October 22, 2016-Texas Revolution Festival held in Austin is a festival run by promoters Come And Take It Productions.
I’ve covered a lot of Come And Take It shows for Metalunderground.com, including the spring version of the festival, Texas Independence Fest in 2015. That festival featured such bands as Between The Buried And Me, Vital Remains, White Chapel, COC, Death Angel and Cavalera Conspiracy. Tonight billed such artists as Hatebreed, Devildriver, Soilwork and Crowbar.
The Independence Festival was a three-day outing, while Texas Revolution was only one day. Both festivals were held at the same venue—Empire Control Room & Garage. The Control Room stage was an smaller, inside stage that held many of the lesser-known and local acts. Ringworm headlined that stage. The Garage is an outside stage that housed the headliners. From Montreal, Canada, Ion Dissonance was one of the creators and refiners of a sound in the mid-'00s that was equally brutal, technical, and rich with pit-friendly grooves.
Along with French Canadian countrymen Despised Icon and U.S. bands like The Red Chord, Ion Dissonance mixed dizzying math and earthquaking heaviness into a vibe that served as a gateway for the deathcore boom that followed. Between 2003 and 2010, the band released four albums and toured the world.
Now in 2016, Ion Dissonance is set to return with its fifth album, "Cast the First Stone," to be released November 18th on Good Fight Music. Check out new song "Treading on Thin Ice" below.
Ion Dissonance frontman Kevin McCaughey offers this statement: "First and foremost, we are excited that we inked a new record deal with Good Fight Music. For those who know us well it is certainly no secret that our band has encountered its fair share of obstacles through this 15-year journey, leading us to remain inactive for the better part of the last six years. With that being said, we look forward to a fresh start, and couldn't ask for a better fit than the relationship established with the Good Fight family. The professionalism, dedication, support and hard work going into this record is so much moe positive than our previous experiences thus far.
"On a side note, we are beyond stoked to finally share with our fans the songs we've been working on for some time now. For the occasion we reserved some of the hardest hitting grooves you've heard from us to date. With Antoine [Lussier, Ion Dissonance guitarist] at the helm of production once again, we made sure to include a little bit of everything on this one. Cast the First Stone is a solid mix of all the essential elements you would expect to hear from us, with some new twists added. This is the next chapter in the Ion Dissonance discography and we are far from finished." More...
Ion Dissonance has a new track online for streaming titled "Ill Will," which can be heard in the player below. The group also had this to say:
"The wait is finally over… We would like to thank you all for your patience and support. Nevertheless, here is Ion Dissonance’s way of saying thank you.
"We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Dominic Grimard from ‘The Last Felony’ into the Ion Dissonance family. For those who know us well, you know that we have a nasty habit of recycling up guitarists to play bass for us. Dominic is no exception to this rule. The guy shreds, and we are happy to have him helping us out with bass duties. For those of you wondering, Yanic is still involved with the band and helping with the recording process. Unfortunate health issues have forced him to step aside for now. We wish him all the best and a prompt recovery.
"So without further delay, here is the first installment of our upcoming release. If you want to purchase the song, we have included the bandcamp link within the Youtube video. The Montreal and Toronto shows are on for this upcoming weekend. See you all there."

"It’s been a while already since we made THE announcement and I know some of you are probably saying 'WTF, these guys still aren’t done yet?!' hahah Well, instead of canceling the tours we had in the works at the time, we figured it’d be a good opportunity to play in our favourite cities, tour in a few countries we had never visited before and rock out with you guys for the last time."
"After touring in 24 countries in the last 6 months, we’re finally back home and getting ready to play our last Quebec and Ontario shows next week. This final world tour was simply amazing and since this is the last time we check-in with you guys, I just want to sincerely thank you all once again for all your help and support. We’ve had some good fucking times together!"
"For those who were planning on coming to our final Montreal shows, we have a few surprises for you. The original Despised Icon line-up (2002-2006) will make its appearance and play a few songs from the first 2 albums! We're also happy to announce that our brothers in Ion Dissonance and Beneath The Massacre will be supporting their new records for the first time at home and ABACABB will also be playing one of their last shows ever with us. Canadian deathcore act Ion Dissonance has announced that is has dropped off of the "Portals Tour" which features Arsonists Get All The Girls, Within The Ruins, And Hell Followed With and Structures. The band issued the following statement:
"We are truly sorry to announce that we have decided to drop off the Malus promoted “Portals” tour with our friends in AGATG, Within the ruins, And Hell Followed With and Structures. We don’t want to waste anybody’s time getting into the details of why exactly we have decided to drop off, so lets just say that a certain clothing company did not hold up their end of the promotion deal that was necessary for this tour, and that the shows we played were no where near what we had anticipated as a band.
We sincerly appologize to everyone who had planned on coming out to see us and watch us play, as well as all those of you who found out about the show the following day. For those concerned, be assured that internal problems within the band were not a factor in our decision to drop off. The band is doing quite well actually and monatary reasons are the major influence on our decision to go home.
We want to take a minute and give a shout out to everyone participating with the portals tour. Arsonists get all the girls, Within the ruins, And hell followed with, Structures and destruction of a rose. You guys are all great dudes and musicians and we miss you all (even Joel). Hopefully the news of our departure will help promote the remaining shows of the tour.
Take care and stay tuned for more on the situation.
