Latest Suicidal Tendencies News
Below is our complete Suicidal Tendencies news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Note: We began associating news directly with bands in late 2003. Therefore, earlier band news may not be listed on this page.
Long-running Venice Beach, California thrash/punk band SUICIDAL TENDENCIES will embark on a West Coast tour starting on November 15 at the House of Blues in Las Vegas, Nevada. Exact cities and dates will be announced soon.
SUICIDAL TENDENCIES is putting the finishing touches on its new studio CD with producer Paul Northfield.
SUICIDAL TENDENCIES' current recording lineup is as follows:
Mike Muir - Vocals
Mike Clark - Guitars
Dean Pleasants - Guitars
Ron Brunner Jr. - Drums
Steve Brunner - Bass
MINISTRY mastermind and industrial metal pioneer Al Jourgensen has revealed the band's lineup for its final tour, which is expected to kick off early next year. It is as follows:
Al Jourgensen - Vocals
Jimmy DeGrasso (MEGADETH, Y&T, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES) - Drums
David Ellefson (MEGADETH, F5, TEMPLE OF BRUTALITY) - Bass
Tommy Victor (PRONG) - Guitar
Sin Quirin (THE REVOLTING COCKS) - Guitar
John Bechdel (FEAR FACTORY, KILLING JOKE) - Keyboards
In a recent interview with Germany's Rock Hard magazine, Jourgensen said, "We're tourng pretty extensively – we're doing like the CHER farewell tour. [Laughs] It's gonna be, like, 20 weeks of mayhem around the world, and then we're done."
After 27 years, 11 studio albums, four Grammy nominations, and plenty of pain, MINISTRY will release its final album, "The Last Sucker", on September 18. This will give Jourgensen plenty of time to devote himself to expanding his borderland compound, 13th Planet Records.
"I've got a lot of side-projects and new projects I want to focus on," explained Jourgensen. "We have our our own label, 13th Planet Records, we're building, and I want to sign, produce and collaborate with other artists. Being in the studio writing, recording and collaborating is my favorite part of this snake-oil industry. I'd rather be behind the console than behind the mic. Plus, I kinda like the synchronicity of Dubya and MINISTRY riding off into the sunset hand in hand."
"The Last Sucker" is the third in an unrelenting and uber-critical trilogy aimed at exposing the foils, failures and fabrications perpetrated by the George W. Bush administration. The CD, which follows 2004's "Houses of the Molé" and last year's "Rio Grande Blood", is the final nail in the Dubya coffin. The album was produced and recorded by Jourgensen himself at his 13th Planet compound in El Paso, TX, with musicians Thomas Victor (PRONG) on guitars, Paul Raven (KILLING JOKE, PRONG) on bass and guitarist Sin Quirin (THE REVOLTING COCKS). In addition, Burton C. Bell (FEAR FACTORY) makes a vocal appearance on "Die In A Crash", as well as the album's final two songs, "End of Days" parts One and Two.
"The Last Sucker" track listing:
01. Let's Go
02. Watch Yourself
03. Life Is Good
04. The Dick Song
05. The Last Sucker
06. No Glory
07. Death & Destruction
08. Roadhouse Blues
09. Die In a Crash
10. End of Days (Pt. 1)
11. End of Days (Pt. 2)
Huntington Beach, CA's SiX have announced the release of their new album “Between The War and the Warning.” The album, which features guest appearances by Mike Clark from Suicidal Tendencies and bassist Tony Campos from Static-X, will be released independently through the group’s own 1605 Records.
"Tony and Mike were a blessing to this project. After rocking out to one of our rough demos he got from a mutual friend, Mike wanted to meet us. That meeting turned into partying in Hermosa Beach over Tecates and Tequilla. By the end of the night he and his homie destroyed his coffee table, moshing to 'The Day I Died.' He came into the studio and just man-handled the guitar. I've never seen a guy rip like that so effortlessly," says frontman Lauren Boquette. "Tony and I go way back to my days in Drown. We knew he was a monster on the bass and when it came time to track bass parts, I sent him 'The Day I Died' and 'Warning' knowing they would be right up his alley. He came in and within 2 hours the bass lines were on fire, he killed it." More...

In addition to the previously announced stellar lineup, which includes headliners GWAR, Chimaira, Every Time I Die, and Job For A Cowboy, the third annual Sounds of the Underground summer touring fest will feature additional bands in select cities:
- Thrash metal veterans Testament will play before GWAR at the Starland Ballroom on July 14 in New Jersey.
- Mushroomhead will close the show in their hometown of Cleveland, Ohio on July 21 and will also perform as special guests in Columbus on July 22, Chicago on July 23, and Minneapolis on July 24.
- The legendary Suicidal Tendencies will close shows in San Jose, California on August 3, Irvine, California on August 4, and Mesa, Arizona on August 5.
- Modern thrash titans Lamb of God will headline a recently added date on August 11 in Louisville, Kentucky and will be joined by special guests Hatebreed and Behemoth.
The regular lineup for Hot Topic Presents Sounds of the Underground includes headliner Gwar, with co-headliners Chimaira, Every Time I Die and a band to be announced soon rotating set times throughout the tour. The lineup will be rounded out by Job For a Cowboy, Necro, Darkest Hour, Amon Amarth, The Acacia Strain, The Devil Wears Prada, Heavy Heavy Low Low, The Number Twelve Looks Like You Goatwhore, This Is Hell, and 2 Cents.
Oderus Urungus, lead throat-thing of GWAR, rulers of Earth, when told of the addition of the various guests, responded, "I give my personal seal of filthy approval to this excellent selection of bands. Suicidal in particular played one of the first GWAR shows ever. Tonight I shall burn a baby upon the Altar of Eternal Syphillis."
The SoundWave Festival rolled across Australia this southern hemisphere summer with dates in Brisbane, Sydney and Perth. While billed as an "all day rock and mayhem experience", headliners Deftones and +44 (a band made up of former members of Blink 182) meant the festival was always going to attract a diverse audience. The inclusion of Suicidal Tendencies, Hatebreed, The Bronx and Terror in the lineup ensured a healthy metal contingent was in attendance.
The official web site stated that the capacity of each venue was around 10,000. If this was the case, the Claremont Showgrounds, where the Perth show was held, was not filled to capacity. This meant that the crowd around each of the three stages (one indoor, two outdoor) was quite small - more so considering the licensed areas were fenced off some distance from each stage. The thin crowds meant members of some of the bands playing early sets could be seen wandering around throughout the day, chatting to fans and checking out the other performances. More...
SUICIDAL TENDENCIES' official web site has been updated with the following message:
"February 18 is the Chinese New Year. This is the year of the 'Boar.' Hopefully it will also be a great year for 'Cycos.'
"The band is off tomorrow to Australia to do the first shows since Mike Muir's last back surgery. Everyone is quite excited and we like to thank all the Aussies for their emails and support...even the ones that were mad the band wasn't playing near them. This will be the first time back to Australia and many years and it's always a favorite spot. The band will also be starting an Australian Suicidal Records and is getting the street team going too. If you are from Australia or New Zealand you can email Lorenzo (Lorenzo.Meroni@eu.sony.com) from the European street team, or Stigfamilia@aol.com. The band got added to this festival late, but is happy that a show could be added in Melbourne (which the festival missed) and gets to do a club date in Perth the night before the Perth festival. This should be quite a blast and W.A. will be off the hook for a Cyco weekend. Hopefully this festival will be a great re introduction to SUICIDAL for the people down under and the band will be back later with a full-on headlining tour and dates in New Zealand too.
"In April the band will be going to France to do some festivals and some headlining dates. Since the dates were first announced we've been getting bombed with emails about touring etc. There's a lot of interesting dates being discussed and some not so interesting, lol. A lot will depend on how these dates go. Then the band can safely make further commitments and plan the release schedule.
"There's several projects the band has been working on and most a couple will be completed after the band returns from Australia. Yes the live DVD from the Olympic will be released this year. Yes, a new ST CD will be released....and there's several more projects that will be released by Suicidal Records in the next two years. So thanks again for all your support and patience. The band is looking forward to going Cyco worldwide. Hope to see you there. We know the Aussies will kick it off right!"

SUICIDAL TENDENCIES have issued the following statement:
"Unfortunately the band has had to cancel the Brasilian festival dates and all the plans for 2006 are on hold again as Mike Muir [vocals] had to have another back surgery this week. Obviously this is a big setback for the band and Mike personally, but he is now out of the hospital and the long process of recovery/rehab starts all over again. The band was just getting rollin again and all was looking good, but there's really nothing we can do at this time.
"There'll be another [statement] when Mike is feeling better, but in the meantime, thanks for all the people that were at the Rock Al Parque festival in Colombia and all the Cycos that showed up to the Grand Olympic Auditorium last month to make it a special event. Everyone was looking forward to going back to Brasil and then finishing the new ST CD, and getting back out on a world tour next year, but we'll now have to wait and see how everything goes with the rehab.
"Thanks again to all those that have supported ST in the past and that will in the future.
