Lemmy Narrates Motocross Documentary

"Mind of the Demon: The Larry Linkogle Story" is a documentary film narrated by Lemmy Kilmeister of Motorhead screening at Slamdance on Jan 23 & 26. There’s original music from Suicidal Tendencies, Greg Hetson of Circle Jerks, Redd Kross and Bad Religion, Jason Hill of Louis XIV and Marco D. Leone with additional music is from Motorhead and Black Flag. Writer, director and producer Adam Barker says “From my first day of working with Larry I knew that Lemmy had to narrate the film. There was no second choice. Larry is the overlord of FMX and Lemmy is the overlord of metal. When we asked Lemmy backstage at one of his concerts to sign on I told him ‘there was no second choice…and if he died we’d be fucked.’ Lemmy said, ‘I’d blast up from hell and still do it!!’ True story.”

Here’s the synopsis of the documentary:

Mind of the Demon: The Larry Linkogle Story is a brutally honest look into life and mind of one of the most out-spoken, forward-thinking, visionaries ever to come out of the motor-sports industry. Larry Linkogle is a world-record holding dirt-bike legend whose off-the-cuff antics and aggressive "never sell out" attitude was the spark the kick-started the entire freestyle motocross revolution. But as the new sport took off beyond expectations, so did Larry’s battles with his inner demons. Both a thrilling recreation of the rise of freestyle motocross and a heart-wrenching account of the demise of the sport's most infamous legend, Mind of the Demon's timeline is told through incredible archival footage, and interviews with every top industry name. Past and present storylines intertwine to drive the film toward one of only two possible conclusions: one of the most unlikely inspirational comeback stories of all time or a nosedive into a black hole of self-destruction. Narrated by LEMMY KILMEISTER

"Mind of a Demon: The Larry Linkogle Story" will be shown at the following film festivals (which run in conjunction with Sundance Film Festival):

Slamdance:
Location: Treasure Mountain Inn, 255 Main Street, Park City, UT
Screening dates and times: Saturday, January, 23 at 10:00AM and Tuesday, January 26 at 10:30PM

X-Dance: Action Sports Film Festival
Location: X-dance Theatre 272 S. Main St., Salt Lake City, UT
Screening date and time : Sunday, January 24 at 7:35pm

Suicidal Tendencies Announces DVD Tracklisting

Suicidal Tendencies has revealed the full tracklisting for the band's upcoming "Live At The Olympic Auditorium" DVD. The band's first official DVD ever will street January 26, 2010 via the band’s own imprint, Suicidal Records. The approximately 80-minute DVD features 16 tracks including ST classics “Institutionalized,” “War Inside My Head,” and “Possessed To Skate.”

Elaborated Suicidal Tendencies founding vocalist Mike Muir: "The band started getting emails from some crazy guy that always said, 'I know you'll probably think I'm crazy, but I'm not. I'm wanna book ST for a show and I got this idea...'. Well, one by one we shot down the 'unique' ideas until one time he emailed and said the Olympic Auditorium was being bought by a Korean Church. Shouldn't it be sent off with a special last gig? The band agreed and then the work began. The promoter -- Evel Dick Donato who went on to win Big Brother -- tells a bit about the show, making of etc. on the intro. Lots of drama, none more than the day before the show when I woke up and couldn't walk. But the show must go on and the back surgery would have to wait till afterwards. SUICIDAL recorded live at the Olympic Auditorium in front of 4,000 Cycos...but now you can enjoy it in the safety of your living room."

Here's the complete "Live At The Olympic Auditorium" DVD tracklisting:

1. Intro
2. I Shot Reagan
3. War Inside My Head
4. Subliminal
5. Ain’t Gonna Take It
6. Suicidal Failure
7. We Are Family
8. Possessed To Skate
9. I Saw Your Mommy
10. Waking The Dead
11. Show Some Love...Tear It Down!

Suicidal Tendencies To Release Two CDs

Mike Muir, the frontman of crossover thrash metal legends Suicidal Tendencies, recently revealed in an interview with Abort Magazine that the band is planning to release a new album at the end of this year, as well as a live album in the meantime. An excerpt from the interview reads as follows:

"We haven’t done a record in ten years, but we have done a lot in that time. We have people coming up to us saying ‘You know, you guys are doing shows, why don’t you put a record out and tour off that?’ That’s not what Suicidal is about. It's not doing it just because you don’t think you will get another chance, I want to get out there and prove we are better than we ever were. So going out there the last two years, we have kind of re-baptized the converted, reminding people why they love Suicidal, get them on the phone after the show calling up their friends. If you don’t have that excitement, there is something wrong. We’re getting that excitement out there, where people are really excited about a new record. We’re kind of putting out the old stuff, clearing the deck, like with the DVD, we’ve got a live CD straight from the board from 1995 when Infectious grew, Robert Trujillo on bass and stuff, something straight off the board that you can say, wow, that was 15 years ago.

"With Suicidal, we have two CDs coming out, the one, I call it the Mike Clark record, and I call it that because we got Mike (ST rhythm guitarist) into Suicidal after working with him and the band No Mercy he came in on How Will I Laugh Tomorrow after 1987’s Join The Army. Half of ‘How Will I Laugh’ was actually songs for No Mercy. That was another no brainer, like with Eric, why weren’t we using this for Suicidal? More...

Sunday Old School: Suicidal Tendencies

Hardcore is such a great means for getting rid of some teenage angst and aggression. Though that's not what really attracted me to the style, it was beneficial many times. While being far from the greatest song in history, I know I related to the underlying issue: that we're a product of the environment that our own families put us in, while at the same time leveling accusations at us that we're "out of step." If you don't like the song, I imagine you'll love the video.

Thrash Metal's "Big Four" To Tour?

According to Slayer guitarist Kerry King, a dream tour featuring Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax could well be in the works. Speaking to Britain's Metal Hammer magazine, King stated:

“I’ve heard people referencing Lars. I don’t know Lars that well and I haven’t heard it from Lars but apparently he’s talking to somebody about it. Maybe us, Metallica, Megadeth (and), I think he even threw in Anthrax and I said in this day and age, I know we had that time together but how do you leave out Machine Head? There’s better options than Anthrax and that’s nothing against Anthrax, but they’ve just been in pieces for quite some time and that doesn’t make as much sense to me."

The closest the world has got to having the "Big Four" tour together came in 1991 when Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax were joined on tour by the up and coming Alice In Chains, who stepped in for Bay Area thrashers Death Angel, on the Clash Of The Titans tour. The tour also went to Europe where Megadeth and Slayer performed without Anthrax and Alice In Chains but with Suicidal Tendencies and Testament.
