Progressive blackened death metal from Columbus, Ohio named after a female chemist from Ancient Rome regarded as the first documented serial killer. LOCUSTA released their debut full-length via Kentucky-based Pragmatic Records upon an unsuspecting underground earlier this year. The 10-track, self-titled offering was recorded/engineered by Brian Simakis at Capital City Studios, mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound Mastering and features strikingly stark cover art by local artist Stefan Hoza.

After a two-year hiatus, the Ohio technical grinding death metal peddlers in Locusta will be embarking on a live takeover through the East Coast this Spring.
Slated to commence on May 13th in Raleigh, North Caroline, Locusta will rape faces through Columbia, Knoxville, Columbus, Washington DC, Baltimore, Brooklyn, Providence, Portland, Philadelphia, Harrisonburg and Richmond with additional incursions to be announced in the coming weeks. The band will be joined by drummer Alex Tomlin (Battlemaster, Arsis, Withered et al).
Locusta is currently putting the finishing touches on an as-yet-untitled full-length tentatively scheduled to drop later this year. Comments the band of the forthcoming live offensive:
"We're looking forward to hitting the road again after such an agonizingly long break from touring and to what we're anticipating will be some of the best shows we've ever played, both in respect to the caliber of the bands we're billed with and the fact that our live sets sound tighter than they ever have before. Our set lists will mostly contain songs from the new album, including the first track we've ever written that extends past the nine-minute mark, which is easily the darkest and most epic piece of music we've written so far. There is more grinding technicality than before, but the songs are also much more mature from a songwriting point of view than what you hear on our first album. We're excited to be sharing this time in the band with all of our new and old friends on the road, but...no survivors."

Ohio's Locusta will kick off the band's first tour of 2011 this Sunday in Richmond, Virginia with Battlemaster and War Graves. The short but ravenous trek will massacre eight more cities before winding down in Columbus, Ohio at the Carabar.
Commented guitarist Dru Silver: “After a year of absence from touring, we’re happy to announce that this coming week we will be kicking off our first tour of 2011 on the East Coast of the United States. Speaking of said absence, our drummer just became the proud father of a newborn daughter — congrats Simon! — and will be unable to join us. However this has granted us the opportunity for a very special lineup that you will only get a chance to see, as Alex Tomlin from Battlemaster will be stepping in to offer his services of tearing up the skins for us. Don’t miss it!”

Ohio progressive black/death metallers LOCUSTA, who regrettably had to skip the entire first week of their US tour with Tennessee black/doom bands Argentinum Astrum due to vehicular trouble, have issued the following update from the road:
Guitarist Dru Silver commented, "Unfortunately, due to van trouble we had to scrap the first week of our tour; we had the (dis)pleasure of breaking down in a dry county in Kentucky for three days, and with the added financial stress of automotive repairs it was next to impossible to go on as planned. Fortunately for us they were mostly regional dates, however we apologize to anyone that was planning on attending any of those shows on either band's behalf. We shall return...
"In other news, we've been immensely enjoying the natural wonders that the western frontier has to offer-- particularly Massacre Rocks/Craters of the moon in Idaho -- and have been getting along great with the folks in Argentinum... practically peas in a pod. The reception has been good so far, and we can't wait for what else this side of the country has to offer! Many thanks to those that have aided us in our journey so far." More...
