U.S. outfit Gollum has changed names to Hadea and now signed a record deal with Mighty Music. The band's new album is due out early next year and Hadea also comments:
"We are happy to announce that we've signed a deal with European record label Mighty Music based out of Denmark! Our debut album is tentatively scheduled for release sometime in January 2014. More details to come. In the meanwhile, we have here a video for our first single, 'Hinge.' A nuclear apocalypse never looked or sounded so good! Help us spread the word. Thanks everyone!"
Gollum will perform a one-off show at the Raleigh, North Carolina stop of Rockstar Energy Drink's Mayhem Festival.
The Wilmington, North Carolina group will join Megadeth, Machine Head, In Flames, Unearth and other successful acts of today's metal and hard rock scene. Gollum is set to play the Jagermiester stage on August 3rd at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek. The band's set will be filmed for a possible DVD.
Said guitarist Frank Stroehmer: "We are super stoked and psyched to play alongside all these great bands for the third year in a row! We are especially looking forward to seeing Megadeth destroy! We've been working hard over the last year writing new material for our upcoming Rotten Record's sophomore release and will be showcasing some of the new tunes in our set!"
Gollum is currently working on the follow-up to the band's 2009 Rotten Records release "The Core."
North Carolina experimental extreme metal band GOLLUM has posted the music video for "Blacksmith (Summoning Wrath)" online. The track comes off their latest album, "The Core," released via Rotten Records last spring. The video was shot in the summer of 2009 in the band's hometown of Wilmington. The band performance portion was shot in a studio and later cropped and transformed into abstract CGI while the "movie" portion was filmed in a welding warehouse to capture a blacksmith at work.
The band comments on the video's concept, "The concept for the 'Blacksmith (Summoning Wrath)' video was to have this visually experimental and abstract CGI background during our performance intertwined with a 'movie' depicting a blacksmith forging a battle-ready sword. With the limited resources and good dedicated friends that know how to film and use video software helping out, we think we accomplished that vision, even on such a slim budget!"
