Dark Fortress Post Another New Song Online

Another new DARK FORTRESS song entitled "No Longer Human" has been posted on the MySpace page of the group's drummer, Seraph. The track "Edge of Night" is still available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. Both cuts come off the German black metal outfit's fifth full-length album, "Eidolon", which will be released via Century Media Records on the following dates:

Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Italy: February 22
UK, France, Greece, Denmark, Norway, Rest Of Europe: February 25
Spain, Portugal: February 26
Finland, Sweden, Hungary: February 29

According to a press release, "Eidolon" is the band's first effort with new vocalist Morean, who is also responsible for the intricate lyrical concept.

In its nine chapters the album describes the initiation, dehumanization and unearthly rebirth of a transcending soul by mirror magic and astral projection.

An "Eidolon" is a Greek concept of an astral double of a living being or a "mirror." The concept describes a magic mirror ritual as while a person is in a trance, the surface of the mirror is used as a gate to enter a new dimension. Three songs each form the album's three chapters:

"Eidolon" track listing (50:17):

The first three songs describe the calling of beings from the other dimension, seen from three different angles:

01. The Silver Gate (6:50)
02. Cohorror (5:37)
03. Baphomet (6:24) *

The second part is the initiation, when the astral soul is dehumanized and torn away from his earthly ties.

04. The Unflesh (5:08)
05. Analepsy (6:01)
06. Edge of Night (3:57)

The third part is the rebirth „on the other side of the mirror“.

07. No Longer Human (5:36)
08. Catacrusis (4:34)
09. Antiversum (7:22)

* Featuring guest vocals by Tom Gabriel Fischer (CELTIC FROST)

Dark Fortress Part Ways With Singer

German black metallers DARK FORTRESS have issued the following update:

"We are sorry to announce that Azathoth (vocals - pictured) will no longer be a part of Dark Fortress. We all came to the decision that we have to go separate ways, due to various - non-musical - reasons. Nevertheless we do wish Azathoth all the best for his future plans in life. Therefore we are currently looking for a new frontman/singer. Serious applications, including audio AND visual (live-videos, pics,…) material, may be sent either to v.santura@thetruedarkfortress.com or seraph@thetruedarkfortress.com. We will keep you updated about any news concerning a new singer. All future live gigs (Summer Breeze Open Air, Kaltenbach Open Air) are probably going to be canceled, however we will play the gig in Alte Kaserne in Landshut, Germany (on May 19th) as a farewell gig for Azathoth. This will be your last chance to see us in this line-up, so make sure you don’t miss it. Furthermore, the work on our new album and it’s release date will be postponed. Again, we will keep you informed."

Dark Fortress Sign With Century Media Records

Century Media Records is proud to present you its newest signing with German black metal hopefuls Dark Fortress, who will debut with their fourth full-length release “Séance” on January 30th, 2006 in Europe.

Formed in 1994, Dark Fortresshave established themselves in the top ranks of the genre with captivating, intense live shows and fascinating pitch black full-length masterpieces that meet the standard created mostly in northern Europe’s prolific scenes with ease.

Having released a self-financed demo tape, a nowadays highly sought-after MCD on the small black metal label Fog Of The Apocalypse and two fantastic albums on the US based underground label Red Stream Records, the band’s 2004 output “Stab Wounds” manifested the reputation within the underground scene as well as it established the name Dark Fortressin the main metal media. As a prime example, German Rock Hard magazine stated Dark Fortress being “too good, too original and heavy to be ignored. Simply the best German black metal has to offer!”

Now “Séance” is the next step to establish Dark Fortressnot only as one of Germany’s most hopeful black metal acts, but as one that does not have to fear the international competition. Once more ennobled by a marvellous artwork of Travis Smith (Nevermore, Katatonia, Opeth etc.) the album evolves around the conceptual idea of the direct contrast between the here and now and the hereafter, the fragility of human existence with its most striking weaknesses - ignorance, arrogance and false illusions – and the crass finality of death. The central motif lyrically of “Séance” dares to leave the stereotypical, cliché-ridden black metal paths and instead deals with the idea of paranormal beings, their individual experiences which are focused on during the course of the album.

The musical side supports this conceptual idea with majestic, gloomy guitar melodies, twisted and morbid passages, ultimately grim vocals and an amount of inventiveness hard to find in the genre nowadays. “Séance” is a diversified, frighteningly extreme and highly creative effort, that should not be ignored. Here the tracklist:

Tracklist:

Ghastly Indoctrination (7:39)
CataWomb (6:41)
