Revamp Recruits New Bassist

Henk Vonk has been revealed as Revamp's new bass player. He replaces Jaap Melman who left the band before the recordings of the new upcoming album. The band comments:

"The decision was made in mutual understanding and we can still drink a glass of beer together. On the album plays Stream of Passion bassist Johan van Stratum, who filled in on short notice and did an amazing job to record and edit the bass parts.

"Henk Vonk will be joining us on stage from now on to seriously rock your asses! He's a great guy and an amazing bass player. Please welcome him warmly!"

Henk adds: "I'm stoked to have been asked to join the Revamp ranks. I've known Jord and Ruben for years and have played with other ReVampers before in other projects. This is a great honor and I look forward to see each and everyone of you on tour!" More...

Revamp Comments On New Album

Revamp's vocalist Floor has checked in with the following announcement about working on a new album:

"In the few years of ReVamp’s young existence the band endured many challenges and unexpected circumstances. Heavy winter storms with long periods of suffocating frost! Followed by sudden summer rains with wild streams of water that’s taking everything with it into unknown territory. A survival of the fittest! ReVamp came out stronger, more mature and with darker and more brutal music that tells the tale of this wild ride!

"Never before in my career I faced a situation like the one we were in with this album. It was a huge challenge because of several reasons. My sickness caused a major break between the first album and tours plus the writing of the first ideas for the second album and the actual finalization of those songs and the album. And right at the moment we started to pick everything back up after I was sick I joined Nightwish. Like a winter and a summer storm, they bring unexpected things, some nasty ones and some amazingly wonderful!

"Also the recording of this album was unlike any I did before because I was on tour with Nightwish most of the time. Guided by Joost van den Broek (ex-After Forever, songwriter first ReVamp album) the talented musicians of ReVamp recorded all the instruments and when I came back to The Netherlands I stepped into the studio to find a rough diamond. A shiny dark crystal: ready for my vocals. That was magical! The singing went smoother than ever before. The lyrics are like a roadmap through our storms and through my personal detours and horrors. Anette Olzon Departs Nightwish

In the midst of the North American tour with Kamelot, Nightwish announced the mutual split with vocalist Anette Olzon due to "conflict in the direction" of the band. The band will proceed with the rest of the North American tour with ReVamp vocalist Floor Jansen on vocals. The joint announcement reads as follows:

"Another chapter of the NIGHTWISH story has ended today. NIGHTWISH and Anette Olzon have decided to part company, in mutual understanding, for the good of all parties involved.

"In recent times it has become increasingly obvious that the direction and the needs of the band were in conflict, and this has led to a division from which we cannot recover.

"NIGHTWISH has no intention of cancelling any upcoming shows, and as a result we have decided to bring in a substitute vocalist starting in Seattle 1.10.2012. Her name is Floor Jansen from the Netherlands (ex-AFTER FOREVER, REVAMP), and she has graciously stepped in to help us complete the ”Imaginaerum” world tour.

"We are all strongly committed to this journey, this vehicle of spirit, and we are sure that this will lead to a brighter future for everyone.

"We forever remain excited about the adventures to come, and we are extremely proud of the two beautiful albums and the wonderful shows we shared together.

"NIGHTWISH & Anette Olzon"

A couple of nights ago, Annette Olzon fell ill prior to the show in Denver and was briefly hospitalized. The show proceeded with Kamelot guest vocalists Elize Ryd (Amaranthe) and Alissa White-Gluz (The Agonist) filling in.

ReVamp Issues Update on New LP

Dutch symphonic metal act ReVamp, featuring Ex-After Forever vocalist Floor Jansen, posted an update that the band is about to commence writing for the second LP with keyboardist Joost van de Broek (HDK/Expedition Delta/Ex-After Forever), who played keyboards on the 2010 debut. The following was posted on the band's Facebook Page:

"ReVamp is proud to announce that we will proceed working on new songs for our second album with the professional help of Joost van de Broek!

"He will guide the songwriting process and use his expertise to make the second ReVamp album a killer! Joost worked with Floor in After Forever and on the first ReVamp album. Their cooperation has proofed itself. ReVamp started writing as a band before Floor's burn out already. Due to her sickness the process stopped. Now that her health is improving we decided its time to pick up the songwriting in a higher speed again. Guided by Joost we will search for a fresh metal sound, a ReVamp sound!!!

"When the album can be recorded and released is not sure yet. We will keep you updated about every step and like you; we can't wait to play you some new stuff!!!"

Floor Jansen has recently recovered from burnout and has started appearing at recent ReVamp gigs as well as a guest with Epica.
