The band is powered by the twin guitar assaults of Herman Li and Sam Totman, vocalist ZP Theart, keyboard player Vadim Pruzhanov, bassist Adrian Lambert, and drummer David Mackintosh. A standard line-up for a rock band it may at first appear but DragonForce features a uniquely diverse, multi-cultural line-up (Hong Kong, UK, New Zealand, South Africa, Ukraine).

Early DragonForce can best be described as a mix of modern melodic power metal with the fury of speed metal, since than, the band’s style has evolved into a even more distinctive sound of their own. By combining all their favorite aspects of different rock and metal styles they like, ranging from – classic/power/thrash/speed/death/progressive metal/hard rock and video games music, played with a high octane energy, DragonForce’s sound maybe best described as ‘Extreme Power Metal’.

The catchy and instantly memorable melodies that stand shoulder-to-shoulder with some outrageous speed, power, complex twin guitar wizardry and extreme metal drumming are just some of the qualities that separate this band from the masses. This sonic fury in no way hides the bands greatest strength - their songwriting ability.

The band started off with a self produced demo which attracted over half a million (500 000) downloads from 1 internet site alone. DragonForce had already toured with the likes of Halford, Stratovarius and Virgin Steele as well as headlining their own shows across England without having an album out. After the release of their debut album, Valley Of The Damned, the band was invited for their first tour of South East Asia, headlining their own shows in Thailand, opening for Helloween on their Japanese tour, and performing to an invited audience in Taiwan.

Holy Grail Comments On Upcoming Tour Dates

Holy Grail, which is currently recording the follow-up to"Crisis In Utopia" (named one of 2010's Top 20 releases by Revolver, who called it "the catchiest album of pure heavy metal since Maiden, Priest and Dio ruled the early '80s"), has been confirmed to support DragonForce on a spring tour kicking off at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival on April 21.

In addition, the group, which just completed a successful tour of Australia, will play four shows at South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas next week as part of a short tour alongside Saviours. While in Austin, Holy Grail will play two showcases -- Prosthetic's official label showcase, as well as another presented by MetalSucks -- in addition to two prominent day parties.

Front man James Paul Luna checks in with the following recap of the band's Australian tour, centered around performances at the Soundwave Festival series alongside dozens of major acts: "I can't even begin to express the awesomeness we experienced at Soundwave. It's one of those things that every band must do; it's guaranteed awesomeness. I imagine its like the 10,000 Tons of Metal cruise, but the only people traveling are the same 100 bands and you really create a close bond with each of them. Holy Grail was especially lucky because our 'sidewave' shows were with Black Label Society and Hellyeah. Both bands and their crews were so nice and awesome, it blew us away. Not only did we get to share the stage with them, but we actually got to chat as peers, which was so humbling and inspiring. It's a strange phenomenon to shoot the shit with bands and musicians you grew up idolizing, but that seemed to be such the norm at Soundwave that you end up forgetting about it. More...

More Bands Confirmed For Soundwave Festival 2012

Joining the 60 bands already announced are Staind, Wednesday 13, Unearth, Cathedral, Shadows Fall, Heaven Shall Burn, Your Demise, Kittie, and 14 other (mostly non-metal) bands.

Hole has pulled out of the festival after frontwoman Courtney Love refused to play before Limp Bizkit. Soundwave boss AJ Maddah said on Twitter that he was "relieved we got the moody old cow off the bill. [There’s] no point talking her back, only for her to cancel later, or turn up & act like a rotten twat to other artists, fans, etc."

A third announcement in early December will add another five bands to the lineup, and Danzig is one of the confirmed possibilities. More...

Dragonforce Announces New Singer, Marc Hudson

British based power metal outfit Dragonforce has announced that the band has finally found itself a new lead vocalist, who comes in the form of 23 year old Marc Hudson. Hudson will be taking over the role from former vocalist ZP Theart, who left the band in March of last year.

"I'm really excited about being a part of the DragonForce family." Says Marc. "It's always been my dream to dedicate my life to making music. I'm going to bring all the power and emotion I can to the songs, and help make the killer new record the fans have been waiting for!"

Born in Oxford England, Hudson was picked from the thousands of applications via a number of video auditions and live performances, which left the rest of the band in no doubt that they’d found their man. Since the age of 16, Hudson has been building his vocal skills, gigging with bands in the UK underground scene, developing a powerful style with influences which include Bruce Dickinson, Michael Kiske and Sebastian Bach.

Guitarist Herman Li added: "After almost a year of searching around the globe, it's great to be able to finally tell our fans the good news. Marc's expressive and melodic vocals are sounding phenomenal on the new songs, adding another dimension to the DragonForce sound that I am sure all the fans will love."

The band has been working on a new album since early 2010, recording in various studios in California, London and the South of France.

"Everyone in the band is extremely excited about how the new material is shaping up.” continues Herman. “We haven't felt this kind of energy in the band for a long time. We can't wait to unleash the next DragonForce album later this year."

Sabaton Recruits Dragonforce Member For Euro Tour

Swedish metal act Sabaton has announced that the band has recruited current Dragonforce bassist Frédéric Leclercq to take ove guitar duties for its forthcoming European tour. Leclercq will be filling for Sabaton guitarist Rikard Sundén, who is taken a short hiatus from the band for the birth of his first child. Sabaton commented on the addition of Leclercq by saying:

"Of course, it's the highest wish of Sabaton to tour with all six members, but this time Rikard wanted to pass and to ensure that the fans that come to these shows will get a good show we wanted to bring in a person with both great musical talent as well as a great stage act together with a chemistry that we know fits in Sabaton. We are sure that Frédéric is that person. This is, of course, a temporary situation, Frédéric is still a full member of Dragonforce and Rikard is still the guitar player of Sabaton. For the American tour that starts in April, Rikard will be on stage again, ready to rock and a hopefully a bit richer in life."
