Virginia traditional metal act Volture have revealed the track list and album artwork for the upcoming debut LP "On the Edge." The album is set for release on September 13th via High Roller Records.
Volture is the brainchild of bassist Ryan Waste (known for his work with Municipal Waste) and guitarist Nick Poulus (Ex-Cannabis Corpse). Both got together to form the band in Richmond, VA in November 2008. The song writing leaned towards traditional Euro/US Metal and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The two friends were joined by drummer Barry Cover and vocalist Brent Hubbard (who was later replaced by Jack Bauer). The band's debut mini album "Shocking Its Prey" was issued in early 2010. Quickly after its release Dave Boyd of Twisted Tower Dire fame joined as a second guitarist. The "Rulebreaker" 7" single (plus video clip) followed in 2011 (including a brilliant cover version of Gotham City's "Killer Angels" on the flipside of the vinyl).
Volture continued to tour the United States and Canada throughout 2010/2011. In 2012, the band appeared at the prestigious Keep It True festival. Shortly thereafter the band inked a deal with High Roller Records. The result is the full-length debut album entitled "On The Edge", containing nine highly energetic traditional heavy metal anthems - from "Ride The Nite" all the way through to "Rock You Hard".
Ryan Waste commented: "'On The Edge' is the total heavy metal package. In comparison to the mini-album and the single the themes are a little more involved and the song writing has gotten a bit more complex. Although we never want to stray too far away from our original direction, I think it's important to grow. We will always play traditional heavy metal and that will never change!." More...
Virginia traditional metal act Volture has signed to High Roller Records (a division of Pure Steel Records) for the release of the band's first full length LP "On the Edge," which is targeted for release in September.
Simultaneously, the band has announced that they have recruited new vocalist Jack Bauer (Tengwar). The band is also streaming the title track from the new release (see below).
The announcement reads as follows:
"For those of you in the true heavy metal world, here's the latest on all that is Volture. We fell on some rough times last year. Our label went under, we came back from Europe in debt, our singer Brent Hubbard no longer wanted to tour and he parted ways amicably with the band. We didn't know what the future held for us, but Volture kept on trucking and writing music without a singer. Our heavy metal machine would not be stopped.
"Onward we searched for the right vocalist to complete our band. Our quest would soon come to an end when we auditioned Jack Bauer. He rolled up on his chain mail-clad motorcycle and we immediately caught a good vibe from him. Jack nailed our old songs at practice, securing his position as our new vocalist. Volture barreled on writing and recording new material with Jack and his voice fit the style seamlessly. As a passing of the torch, our original singer Brent came into the studio and laid some guest vocals with Jack on several of the tracks for the new album. Fans of classic Volture will not be disappointed.
"Fast forward to 2013. We signed to High Roller Records and our first full-length album is due out this September. Expect a serious heavy metal attack from Jack on our upcoming LP entitled 'On the Edge'."

Heavy Artillery Records has issued the following announcement about signing a deal with Volture:
"Heavy Artillery Records is pleased to announce the scheduled release of Shocking Its Prey, the debut release from Richmond, VA’s high-powered heavy metal quintet Volture. The six track debut will be unleashed worldwide on January 25th 2011 on CD and limited edition Mini-LP formats. "With the humblest beginnings the seeds for Volture were first laid in November 2008. Inspired by a mutual interest in obscure NWOBHM and early European heavy metal VOLTURE was born when friends Ryan Waste (of Municipal Waste) and Nick Poulos over a few beers agreed to channel those mutual interests into a fully realized project. With Ryan and Nick, respectively, on bass and guitar they were soon joined by vocalist Brent Hubbard and drummer Barry Cover, who had previously worked with Ryan in 2003 in a band called Immortal Avenger. Also joining the fold was Ryan’s fellow Municipal Waste band mate, Landphil on rhythm guitar.
"Throughout 2009, a demanding tour schedule with their other bands left the members of Volture with minimal time to practice. Landphil left the band and the remaining four focused their attention on writing during this time. In January 2010 the four piece entered a small studio in Ryan’s neighborhood to lay down the tracks for Shocking Its Prey, sans any modern studio trickery solely relying on capturing Volture’s natural ability to unleash raw, unedited heavy metal fury. Ryan Waste, guitarist of crossover thrash metal band Municipal Waste, has announced that he has formed a new band entitled Volture, which will be more in the vein of bands such as Judas Priest, Mercyful Fate and Heavy Load. A statement from Ryan Waste reads as follows:
"Ever since I was a young headbanger, I dreamed of doing a real heavy metal band. Growing up on Judas Priest and eventually delving into more obscure NWOBHM bands, I yearned to have one of my own. It wasn’t until 8 years ago when I met our vocalist, Brent Hubbard, that I thought this would actually be possible. His natural singing ability floored me upon the first note and I knew we needed to start a band. It’s been a long time coming, but I am proud to say we have arrived in full force to shock the world with Volture! In this heavy metal ensemble, I returned to my musical roots as a bass player along side the phenomenal shredder Nick Poulos on guitar. Joined by veteran Barry Cover behind the kit, we are now stronger than ever."
