Spanish thrashers Rancor have signed a deal with Xtreem Music for the release of sophomore album "Dark Future" on April 15th. The album was recorded by the band during the last months of 2012 under the production of guitarist Vasco Durán, and mixed and mastered at Rock Lab Studios by Dan Díez.
On March 2nd, the band released a mini CD entitled "Raining Bombs," containing an unreleased song from the same sessions as well as an album track ("Dark Future"), plus two old re-recorded songs. This EP is exclusively sold only through the band online and at live shows. Xtreem Music also commented on the upcoming new album:
"Dark Future contains 9 slabs of intense thrash metal in its purest form, blending aggressive riffing with a great sense of melody creating memorable songs dragging varied influences that might remind you to bands like Mortal Sin, Over Kill, Slayer, old Metallica, Testament, early Annihilator, and the Bay Area sound. Album cover art has been made by comic artist Vito Sicilia, who did an awesome job which for sure is a plus for this brilliant album. Rancor is already working on upcoming shows to present 'Dark Future,' some of them supporting (again) UK legend Onslaught." More...
As My World Burns has issued the following announcement about providing a song for the "Hall of Metal Volume 1" compilation:
"After several months of hard work, and coinciding with our 4th anniversary online, we have the pelasure of offering our readers and friends a special present: our first compilation, as a free download. Under the title 'Hall Of Metal Vol. 1' you will find a double CD playing up to nearly 160 minutes of length, including 32 Spanish bands (with lyrics in English) who altruistically gave us permission to use their songs freely, which now we offer you in two formats: mp3 and flac (lossless). Also included in the file you'll find a PDF document in which we included, besides every band's bio, info about all songs and links to the band's websites and contact details. Since we wanted to give this compilation an international character, all the info is in English. Finally, you will also find the artwork made by our friend illustrator Daniel Alonso known for his jobs for DARKSUN, SAUZE or DÖXA, among other bands."
Thrash band Rancor is currently streaming three new songs online from the upcoming debut full-length album. The tracks "Incompetent," "Soul Chamber," and "Wounded Wolf" can be heard at the Rancor MySpace page. Further information on the release date and track listing for the album will be announced as it is made available.
