The Gardnerz Splits With Vocalist

Swedish outfit The Gardnerz is officially parting ways with vocalist Niclas Ankarbranth. The band comments:

"We are sad to announce that our singer, Niclas Ankarbranth, has decided to step down. Niclas cited lack of time has his reason to leave and we are sad to see him go but we feel that there is no point on dwelling too much on this issue as Niclas is still a good friend and there is now hard feelings what so ever.

"We think Niclas wrote it very well himself in the statement he sent us:

Yo dudes, hope all is well with you guys. Unfortunately this mail is not all of joy as I have some bad news for you. Last year was a year filled with stress in my life. I did not always do what was best for me and carried too much on my shoulders and that took its toll on me. And this is something I had to learn from so 2014 is a year I have a lot of things going on in my private life as well and this means I have to prioritize differently in my life. So with sorrow in my heart I have to resign as the vocalist in the band.

I have already talked with Wilhelm about this matter and I tell you guys as I told him. I have a lot of respect for you all, not only as musicians but also as individuals so I want to be straight with you about this as I do not resign because of any musical differences or grudges against anything. I assure you, it's because I have to prioritize differently from this time forward.

The Gardnerz Offering New Single For Download

Swedish act The Gardnerz has made new single "Exiting Reality" available for free download at
Bandcamp here. You can also stream it below. The "Exiting Reality" single features two all new tracks and was recorded at Funky Cat studios, Armageddon Studio and Natas Senip Studio.

The band had this to say about the single: "With this release we want to affirm our standing as the most interesting and versatile doom/death band around these days. When most bands play it safe, we try to go our own way and incorporate all kinds of twists and turns into our music. I think this is our best sounding release and our most interesting work to date. This being our second release with this line up, I feel that we have really hit our stride and everyone knows what to do to make the sweet music we call deadly doom.

"Lyrically both songs are linked and therefore being Part one and two, Part one deals with an awakening. To see things for what they are, what impact your actions has on your surroundings and the ones around you. Part two is about the liberation from all that. A closure if you like. We feel certain that these two songs will leave you longing for more of our epic doom/death metal." More...

The Gardnerz Streaming Another Song

"It All Fades," the new mini-album from Swedish death/doom metal outfit The Gardnerz, is out now on Abyss Records. The follow up to last year's "The System of Nature," "It All Fades" sees The Gardnerz venture into more melancholic territory while still retaining their trademark massive sound.

"This time around the songs are a bit slower and darker than on 'The System Of Nature' (the band's debut), we tried to continue on the path we have chosen," said guitarist Wilhelm Linhd. "We have found our niche and have no reason to stray, so if you liked our first release you will like 'It All Fades' as well. This time it was a bit more of a group effort and I think that made the songs stronger."

To mark the release of "It All Fades," Axis Of Metal, who gave the world its first taste of the new EP with the premier of the track "Don't Look Back," is now offering fans an exclusive stream of "A Horrible Disease." Check out the track at this location, or below.

The track, entitled "Don't Look Back," is being called a 'a seven-minute doomy-death attack which will punish your psyche...' by Axis Of Metal. Members of The Gardnerz had the following to say about the song: "We have chosen the song 'Don't Look Back' to be the first song out of this new recording to be available to the public eye (or ear in this case) because it sets a good tone for the rest of the mini album," said Bassist Francisco Martín.

The Gardnerz Posts Track-By-Track Breakdown

Swedish metallers The Gardnerz have teamed up with Metalholic to release a track-by-track breakdown of "The System of Nature" album. An excerpt from the breakdown follows:

The Art of Suffering – This was the first track I ever wrote for this band, and one of the once I like the best, very melodic yet at beast in its own right. The song is about people who only see the negative in life and never stop to embrace the positive. Maybe a strange topic for a death metal song, this has been pointed out to me, since we do gloomy music. But I consider myself an optimistic pessimist, yes the world is fucked and most things are shit, but instead of just focusing on this I try to think of what we can do with this to make life better. To quote Neil Young ” Some have taken pure bullshit and turned it into gold”. Instead of dwelling on the past I think it is better to live in the present and make the best of the situation.

Lady in The Grave – Slow monotones and evil, this was the second song I wrote, I think the contrast of the clean part that turns heavy turned out really cool. This is one of the songs that seems to be most appreciated by our listeners, even though it is not one of my favorites. The lyrics for this one was written and vocal pattern was written by our former vocalist, Joel Sundin, we kept some of his vocals in the clean part, he sounds so tortured. The song is about what happens when you cut down on the psychic care and let the not so sane people out in the world. Some nice social commentary for you.

Your Final Solution – So with this song we end the track listing chronologically as this was not song number tree in the creation process. Some reviewer said that this song sounds like Slayer but at a crawling pace, I can only agree, I’m very inspired by midperiod Slayer. Slow and catchy, that’s the ticket. The title has nothing to do with the lyrical theme, I couldn’t think of any lyric to fit the title so I wrote about something different. The song is about how a lot of us enjoy really gory movies and such, but when confronted with real life tragedy we shy away and don’t want to be bothered. Real life is in many ways way more scary than what any sci-fi/horror writer could ever imagine, I guess that is why most of the most nasty movies are often inspired by real events.
