In Virtue Comments On Music Piracy

Guitarist Trey Xavier of California power metal act In Virtue has posted the following statement online regarding the piracy of music:

"Without judgement on anyone else, I have decided that I will no longer be bootlegging or pirating music at all.

"The reason the music world is full of successful Justin Biebers and broke metal bands is that people vote with their money, and the only people who are voting are 12 year old girls with their iTunes gift cards and daddy's credit cards.

"You can do whatever you want, and I won't say shit, but for me, from here on out, I will eat only what I kill."

You can also check out a guitar playthrough video featuring Trey playing the song "Witch Hunt" in the player below. More...

In Virtue Issues Recording Update

California power metal band In Virtue has issued the following update about recording new material:

"Well ladies and gentlenerds, we are elbow deep in it now. We began the process of recording our debut full-length album in February of this year with the drums. We spent 2 days at the renowned Prairie Sun recording studios in Cotati, CA, which has hosted such bands as Tom Waits, Primus, Marty Friedman, just about every Shrapnel Records shredder and none other than sir Paul McCartney (see the list here). We recorded in their studio B room which features a console formerly owned by Pete Townsend of the Who, used to record their legendary album Quadrophenia. Over the course of 2 action packed days we laid down all the basic drum tracks and drained enough Mountain Dew to kill a bull elephant at twenty paces.

"From there things got a bit tedious, lots of editing, pondering, more editing, then finally, guitars! We're using a process known as re-amping, in which I record all the dry guitar tracks direct at my home studio, then at a later date we can send them through an amp. This leads to infinite tweaking possibilities and saves us mucho dinero since I can spend all the time I need to perfecting the performances at home, without being stuck with one guitar tone. This naturally leads to a kind of perfectionism, since I can spend basically as long as I want on it until it's flawless, but will also lead to a far better end product. More...

In Virtue Enters The Recording Studio

U.S. power metallers In Virtue have issued the following update about recording a new album:

"In Virtue has once again entered the studio to lay their vision to tape in the form of a new full-length album entitled Embrace the Horror, a follow-up to last year's Delusions of Grandeur. The album will be a loose concept album about the end of the world and will contain about 12 songs. The band has already laid down the drum tracks at Prairie Sun Recording studios in Cotati, CA with engineer Jason D'Ottavio (Shrapnel Records) and will be recording the remaining tracks over the next several months."

In Virtue guitarist and composer Trey Xavier also commented: "This album has been a long time coming. We've been sitting on these songs for over a year and now we get to do it right. These are our fastest and heaviest songs to date, and I am confident that this album will be a treat for fans of all kinds of metal. The album is due out sometime in mid- to late 2010, and the band is currently seeking a label to release it."
