Atreyu has posted the first in a series of webisodes regarding their new/upcoming album “Congregation Of The Damned,” which is set for release everywhere on October 27. You can check out webisode #1 below.
The long wait for Atreyu fans is over. The Orange County rock pioneers have completed the follow-up to 2007’s highly acclaimed "Lead Sails Paper Anchor." The album, titled "Congregation of the Damned", produced by Bob Marlette (Airborne, Ozzy Osbourne) and mixed by Rich Costey (Mars Volta, System of A Down, Rage Against the Machine), will be released October 27. A fall co-headlining tour with Hollywood Undead is set to kick off on October 16th at The Pavilion in Lubbock, TX.
“I wrote the line ‘congregation of the damned’ for one of the songs on the album and it got me thinking,” says vocalist Alex Varkatzas. “It kind of feels like in a lot of ways that we, as members of a society, are just gathering around and collectively getting fucked over. When you look at what’s going on in our economy and how other people treat each other, it’s kind of like we’re all just lemmings. We’re lined up blankly staring blindly at nothing and just going along with the flow like a congregation of the damned. So this record really reflects my thoughts and feelings about that in every possible way.”
While Congregation of the Damned addresses some dark, troubling subject matter, creating the album was far from a struggle. The band starting writing new material in January 2009 and by the time they entered Henson Studios in Los Angeles with producer Bob Marlette, they had 25 new songs.
“I think this is the longest our band has ever had laser-like focus on an album,” Varkatzas says. “We were all working together really well and we had a great time in the studio with Bob, who we called BeelzeBob. He’s this jovial cigar-smoking, goatee-sporting dude from Nebraska, and he really helped us fine tune the material and nail our best performances.”
While Congregation of the Damned features some of the band’s heaviest riffs ever on tracks like “You Were the King, Now You’re Unconscious” and “Bleeding Is A Luxury,” it also contains some of truly delicate and sentimental moments, including piano ballad “Wait For You.”
“That one’s just a beautiful song, and if you don’t like it, you don’t have a heart,” Varkatzas says. “I’d say that this album is a mix of everything we’ve ever done. For every song that’s more melodic or rock-driven there’s a total shitkicker, and I think that’s what makes us a well-rounded band.”
Atreyu will kick off a fall co-headlining tour with Hollywood Undead and will remain on the road throughout most of 2010.
“The new set is gonna feature a lot of songs from ‘Congregation’ plus a bunch of other stuff,” Varkatzas says. “We’re just really happy with the album and we can’t wait to play it for people live.”
Atreyu reports that they are almost done with their new album in a short update:
"So it's been a while since we've said anything about it.. but we're about 87.33% done w/ the new record. It should be done by August and it set for release in October I believe. We'll let you know track listing, album title, etc very soon.
"Also, if you didn't know already, we have a Twitter. We update it fairly frequently so add us! Atreyu Twitter."

Unable to sing, vocalist Alex Varkatrzas will sit out Atreyu's upcoming appearances at the Indianapolis May Day Fest and El Paso's Balloon Fest this weekend. The band will still perform, however, with Marc McKnight (Bass) and Brandon Saller (Drums/Vocals) filling in on vocal duties.
Here is an explanation from Alex:
"ATREYU will perform both shows this weekend in Indianapolis and El Paso because the last thing we want to do is let our fans down. With apologies from me to the listeners of KLAQ and WRZX, I won't be able to be there. My voice is blown and my throat is swollen and I have sinusitis and a u.r. infection. I am so sorry. I feel like I owe more of an explanation, so here goes.
"We have been on tour at this point about 3 months. The last few weeks have been overseas in Australia, where we have been flying and playing shows everyday. I don't drink and take good care of myself but the weather/climate changing daily and constant strain on my voice has taken its toll. I saw a vocal doctor for the first time on the TOC tour because I was having a little swelling on and around my vocal chords. He examined me and saw no serious career threatening problems. However, I did have a part of my vocal chord that looked a little abnormal and inflamed and could eventually swell up more and give me problems. On top of EXTREME nasal congestion (I cant breathe thru my nose). If that swelling happens I was told to rest, in the mean time I got three cortisone shots and went back to rocking for several more weeks straight. I pushed and pushed myself every night and then we left for Australia. More...

Tickets for the show go on sale just two days beforehand on Thursday, May 15.

You can now head over to Nonelouder and check out the new Atreyu song, "The Squeeze." It comes off the special edition of "Lead Paper Sails Anchor 2.0," which will be available as a special CDVU on April 22nd. The newly enhanced version comes packed with three new songs, 10 video clips, tons of never before seen photos, and a digital booklet.
Atreyu will be touring this summer as part of the Projekt Revolution tour.
Tenth Street Entertainment — which represents MÖTLEY CRÜE — has shot down as (at least partially) "blatantly false and completely unfounded" Internet rumors that CRÜE will headline a festival-type tour called "Cruefest", with support from several other artists from the Tenth Street management stable, including BUCKCHERRY, PAPA ROACH, SIXX: A.M. and DROWNING POOL. According to Tenth Street, CRÜE's April 15 press conference/announcement in Los Angeles will relate to "a few" (but presumably not all) of the following artists:
PUDDLE OF MUDD
THEORY OF DEADMAN
THREE DAYS GRACE
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE
BELLE & SEBASTIAN
3 DOORS DOWN
All four members of CRÜE will be present at the April 15 press conference at a location yet to be determined for what the release hyped as "by far...one of the biggest music announcements of the year!!" The band is also launching a contest in which one grand prize winner from each major city in the country will be flown to Los Angeles to cover the announcement, complete with a chance to interview the band and have the interview broadcast live. Details can be found at the official CRÜE site.
To celebrate the April 22nd release of "Lead Sails Paper Anchor 2.0" CDVU, Atreyu have launched their new “Falling Down” video game. Fans can play the new game at UGOplayer.com. The exciting new game consists of five mini-games, one for each of the guys in the band. Alex’s game slaughters “cute stuff” and leaves a bloody trail of teddy bear parts behind, Brandon takes a trip into hell in search of some ice cream, Dan tests your fast finger work, Marc goes “ghostbusting” with his bass and Travis grills up a remake of the arcade classic, Burger Time. The jam-packed game follows up the popular “Becoming The Bull” interactive game launched last fall.
"Lead Sails Paper Anchor 2.0" CDVU comes packed with new video profiles of the band, behind the scenes footage from the road, tons of never before seen photos, a digital booklet, and three new studio songs. You can check out the teaser for the album and its new content here.
The Pulse of Radio reports that a scam centered around tickets to the Taste of Chaos tour has hit the Web. A person passing themselves off as "Jennifer Weds" at the email address email@example.com is sending out emails offering two VIP tickets for $95 each. The messages generally say in part, "You have been chosen to receive two VIP tickets for the Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour! Your name will be on the will call list plus one guest. Please be sure to bring a print out of the email and your photo ID when picking up your tickets. Will call will be open one hour prior to showtime. Have a great time and keep rockin!"
The Taste of Chaos has asked fans to disregard these emails as they are totally false.
In other news, anyone who signs up for the DKMS Bone Marrow Registry through Music Saves Lives will gain early entry to stops on the Taste of Chaos run. Concertgoers 18 and older who register with the marrow program, which helps those with leukemia and cancers of the blood, will be allowed into the venue 30 minutes before doors open to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at what goes on before the lights go down.
Only 20 people will be allowed in per show. Information on how to apply can be found at TasteOfChaos.com.

ATREYU will re-issue its latest album, "Lead Sails Paper Anchor", in an expanded edition on March 18, according to HardDrive Radio. The enhanced version of the band's major label debut will include a newly recorded song, DVD content and other bonus features. Frontman Alex Varkatzas told The Pulse of Radio more about the group's plans for the release. "We just really want to, you know, write a really cool song as part of the expanded edition of the CD, and we're gonna do some cool, like, DVD view segments, whatever that means, and enhance up the CD, stuff like that," he said.
"Lead Sails Paper Anchor", ATREYU's major label debut, arrived last summer and features the single "Becoming the Bull". The newest single from the disc is called "Falling Down".

The new BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE album, "Scream Aim Fire", sold 53,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 4 on The Billboard 200 chart. BULLET's first-week sales total is only eight thousand copies less than that of this week's chart-topper, ALICIA KEYS, whose No. 1 album is said to be among the the lowest-selling in modern chart history.
"Scream Aim Fire", has achieved the following first-week chart positions:
United Kingdom: #5
A No. 4 debut might be sweet for BULLET singer Matt Tuck, who told The Pulse of Radio that making the disc was a difficult process. "Yeah, totally, every day for the last eight months, prior to it getting actually mixed and mastered and finished, it was like just a never-ending struggle every day, really," he said. "But, you know, it's definitely worth the work."
The CD follows up the group's acclaimed 2006 full-length debut, "The Poison", which has sold more than 375,000 copies in the U.S.

Varkatzas did not have a title for the new song, nor a release date for the expanded edition of "Lead Sails...", which will come with a DVD.
