Below is our complete Atreyu news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Note: We began associating news directly with bands in late 2003. Therefore, earlier band news may not be listed on this page.
After emerging from hiatus earlier this year, Atreyu played a sold-out-in-minutes warm-up show in its native Orange County, was a featured main stage attraction at both Aftershock and Knotfest, and released a new song titled "So Others May Live."
Now, the band has confirmed even more good news -- its worldwide signing to the Search and Destroy Records imprint as part of the newly-announced joint venture between the label and Raw Power Management and Spinefarm Records. Atreyu's new album, due out in 2015, will be released through Search and Destroy/Spinefarm.
"We're truly excited for this union," said Atreyu drummer Brandon Saller. "Signing with Spinefarm/Search & Destroy will truly allow us to create without restraint. We are looking forward to the future."
Raw Power's Vice President Matt Ash concurred, saying, "Raw Power is proud to be representing Atreyu for management worldwide and we're very excited to move forward with the guys in this fresh chapter of their career."
"We are beyond excited to welcome Atreyu to the Spinefarm Records roster," said Spinefarm Director of A&R Darren Dalessio. "As one of the pioneering artists of the metalcore movement, it's very exciting to see this new album take shape. The new music they are crafting is nothing short of incredible, and there is a real passion and fire within the band right now that is undeniable. We couldn't be happier to be a part of this next chapter of Atreyu's already impressive storied career. Expect great things to come in 2015!"
Fresh off a main stage appearance at this weekend's Knotfest in Southern California after returning from hiatus and performing a warm-up show at the Chain Reaction in Anaheim, Atreyu will play a headlining hometown gig at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California. The show will take place on December 20th and will be the band's final live appearance of the year.
"It has been far too long since we did a proper, full-scale headlining show at home," said singer Alex Varkatzas. "We are rehearsing and pumped up to play this legendary OC venue that we have all attended so many shows at over the years."
"Chain Reaction was the appetizer," echoed drummer Brandon Saller. "This is the main course. The Observatory is, bar none, the best venue in Orange County. We're exited to rip the roof off of it."
The band is writing and demoing for a forthcoming album, the first since 2009's "Congregation of the Damned." Stay tuned for further details. More...

Southern California’s Atreyu has now officially risen from a self-imposed hiatus started back in 2011.
The reunited lineup, featuring vocalist Alex Varkatzas, drummer Brandon Saller, guitarists Dan Jacobs and Travis Miguel and bassist Marc Mcknight, will return to the stage for the first time in three years for an exclusive mainstage performance at Aftershock 2014 festival on September 14th in Sacramento, CA.
“The time has come,” says drummer Brandon Saller. “We have been spending the last few months planning this moment. Writing new music and thinking about the future while also reflecting on the past. We all came to the conclusion that it was the right time. Our history is too powerful to ignore forever. Our fans have given us too much. The void of Atreyu, in the world and within ourselves, had existed for long enough. We are happy to announce that after almost 4 years, the beast has risen!"
“To say we are looking forward to Playing this years Aftershock Festival is an understatement,” adds frontman Alex Varkatzas. “It's been 3+yrs since we have rocked the stage as brothers, and to be playing with all these high caliber bands, in the state that we call home, is truly awesome.”
As many fans have already noticed, 2014 also marks the 10 year anniversary of the band’s breakthrough album, "The Curse." Could there be more shows announced this year? Could there be new music to be released? Stay tuned as the story of Atreyu is far from over….

Before Orange County, CA-based modern rock band Atreyu launch their "Congregation of the Damned" tour October 20 in Anaheim, CA, the band will release a free five-song digital EP titled "Covers of the Damned" on October 12 via www.guvera.com (US only). "Covers of the Damned" will also be available worldwide on iTunes, amazon.com and all popular music download sites. Limited edition vinyl copies will be available exclusively at each show on the tour (dates below). The tour will see several of these songs performed live with special guests.
"Covers of the Damned," produced by Noah Shain (As Tall As Lions, Orson, Endless Hallway), features two cover songs by Atreyu and three collaborations with the other bands on the tour. Shain notes that, “These young bands all have a unique and different approach to rock music...such radical interpretations of dangerously classic songs. It was amazing to see and hear these guys work together! We recorded the album in a very short amount of time and everyone followed their instincts, so what you hear is an honest interpretation of the music of an older generation filtered through the ears and hands of the generation of artists making the music that defines today's culture. Kind of a once in a lifetime gig for me. And not only is it a bad ass record, it's gonna be a f__king amazing tour!” Adds Atreyu’s Alex Varkatzas, “A whole tour teaming up to release an EP is a rare thing. We wanted to collaborate with the bands on our tour to create a fun series of covers. This shit was fun to record and will be fun to listen to.”
Atreyu and the members of Chiodos, Blessthefall and Endless Hallway recorded the EP in White Buffalo Studios from September 12 to 17. Architects (UK) vocalist Sam Carter recorded his parts remotely from the UK.
The songs are:
Aerosmith’s “Livin’ on the Edge” (Atreyu)
Dead Kennedys “Holiday in Cambodia” (Endless Hallway and Travis Miguel of Atreyu)
Volbeat’s “Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac Blood” (Atreyu)
Thin Lizzy’s “The Boys Are Back in Town” (featuring Atreyu vocalist Alex Varkatzas and guitarists Travis Miguel and Dan Jacobs along with Endless Hallway members Evan MacCarthy and Joe Mullen, Chiodos vocalist Brandon Bolmer, Architects (UK) singer Sam Carter and Blessthefall vocalist Beau Bokan)
Deftones “My Own Summer” (Atreyu guitarist Travis Miguel and bassist Mark McKnight with Brandon Bolmer and Tanner Wayne of Chiodos, Sam Carter of Architects (UK) and Jono Evans of Endless Hallway
All of the songs on the EP were important to the members of Atreyu in their formative years and contributed to their development as a band. Fans can see the behind-the-scenes footage of the making of this EP soon at RevolverMag.com.

On the 31 Dec 1999, no planes came crashing out of the sky, nuclear bombs went off or microwave ovens tried to eat anyone. However, times were about to change and in the metal scene change was already well underway. Let us take a stroll through the decade in metal that was.
Many of the 90s big names like Emperor and Pantera prepared to give their last venomous scream dying off in the wake of ever diminishing interest in the metal scene that had plagued the 90s. In the year 2000 a band named “Limp Bizkit” came out with an album called "Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavoured Water" and in a storm nu-metal took over the public perception of heavy music, changing the face of metal irreparably. Although nu-metal had already been pioneered by Korn, bands like Deftones, Disturbed, Mudvayne and Linkin Park all had breakout releases in 2000. More...
