Bloodbath To Release New Album In September
It’s time for another deep dive into the horrors of mortality and the foul side of the supernatural – It’s time for "Survival Of The Sickest"! The sixth full-length album from Bloodbath, Sweden’s undisputed masters of old school death metal, will be unleashed on September 9, 2022 via Napalm Records. This is death metal at its ugly best: vicious, unrelenting and irrevocably sworn to the black.
The world is in flames, and "Survival Of The Sickest," produced by Bloodbath and co-produced and mixed by Lawrence Mackrory at Rorysound Studios, offers no respite from the horrors of reality. Instead, with the addition of new guitarist Tomas ‘Plytet’ Åkvik (Lik) onboard, Bloodbath’s latest and greatest album gleefully confronts the slavering ghoul lurking in the shadows, and treats him to ten songs of ripping death metal frenzy. Alongside Bloodbath's official alumni, "Survival Of The Sickest" boasts a smattering of irresistible cameos from the great, good and ghoulish of the metal underground, including Barney Greenway (Napalm Death), Luc Lemay (Gorguts) and Marc Grewe (Morgoth).
Alongside its pre-order kickoff, Bloodbath has released the crushing new single and album opener, "Zombie Inferno," a thrashing death metal assault set to draw the listener into a lunatic outburst of ferocity. The song breaks in with anxiety-inducing riffs and the insanely killer vocals of Nick Holmes, and is visually highlighted via a fast-paced, gory music video, acting as a tribute to the glory days of 80s splatter flicks.
Bloodbath on "Zombie Inferno":
"One man's struggle to rid the World of Zombie Infestation that seems to have inconveniently taken over the planet. Particularly, as he's just refueled his 1969 Dodge Super Bee 440." More...
Bloodbath Postpones North American Tour Dates
Death metal supergroup Bloodbath, featuring members of Kataonia, Paradise Lost and ex Opeth members, has announced that after waiting for their visas for over seven months, they have been forced to cancel their scheduled tour of North America. A statement from the band reads as follows:
"First of all, this is an announcement we hoped we would never have to make… But now left in anger and frustration, we are unfortunately forced to postpone our North American tour and our appearance at Maryland Deathfest, yet again.
"Despite applying for our visas over seven months ago (a process that should take three), they have still not been processed in time due to reasons beyond our control. We've done absolutely everything we can to try and salvage this bullshit and make this tour finally become reality, but we have to accept our fate at this point, that it will simply not happen.
"Given that this is the third time this tour has had to be postponed, we both feel and share your disappointment, but we assure you that despite the hardships associated with this tour, we have not given up and consequently will reschedule the dates as soon as we're able to rid the bureaucracy and lift this curse of delusion.
"Until then, stay safe and stay strong and we hope to see you all sooner than later.
"Refunds for all the club shows will be available from your point of purchase."
Bloodbath Signs With Napalm Records
Napalm Records is massively proud to join forces with legendary all-star death metal onslaught Bloodbath! The band has signed a worldwide record deal with the leading rock and metal label.
Formed in 1998 to spread their ruthless old-school death metal in the likes of early Entombed spliced with hints of US-style death metal, Bloodbath released their first three-track EP, entitled "Breeding Death," in 1999, followed by the critically acclaimed first full-length, the brutal Resurrection "Through Carnage," in 2002.
With their fifth record, "The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn" (2018), the band currently consisting of Nick Holmes (vocals), Jonas Renkse (bass), Anders Nyström (guitars), Tomas Åkvik (guitars) and Martin ‘Axe’ Axenrot (drums) conjured their latest relentless storm of chaos, driven by explosive death, thrash and black metal and hailed by fans and critics alike. Teaming up with Napalm Records, Bloodbath is now more than ready to take the band to the next level. More...

Eighty, of the 150, bands for the 2022 edition of the Brutal Assault Festival have now been announced. The five-day festival will be held in its usual location of Fortress Josefov in the Czech Republic on August 9-13, 2022.
The festival will be one day longer than it has ever been before, and tickets purchased for the 2020 and 2021 festivals remain valid.
Confirmed bands so far include: 1914, Abbath, At The Gates, Bloodbath, Dark Funeral, Katatonia, Mercyful Fate, Uada, and Winterfylleth.
Bloodbath Guitarist Leaves The Band
Swedish death metal supergroup Bloodbath has announced that guitarist Joakim Karlsson has decided to leave the band. A statement from Karlsson reads as follows:
"I am putting away my Bloodbath vest for good.
"To be honest, I’ve never really considered myself a guitarist – at least not a particularly good one – just someone who plays guitar out of necessity because I wouldn’t be able to write my music otherwise. Bloodbath needs a lead guitarist; someone who can pull off these fast, evil solos and whatnot, and to be completely honest, that guy simply isn’t me. Bloodbath needs someone who can do it justice.
"I have had pretty much only good moments with the band, and I’m glad to have been a part of it for the last year and a half, but now I’ll do other things. (I vaguely remember having a main band which hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves during the last year. I think I’ll focus on that for a while.) Alright... Later, Bloodbath fans. I hope I at least managed to trick some of you into listening to Craft.
"By the way, some of you were making guesses about what songs I wrote for 'TAOSID.' I wrote 'Wayward Samaritan' (music/lyrics), 'Only the Dead Survive' (music, together with former Craft guitarist John Doe), 'Ride the Waves of Fire' (music/lyrics) and 'Wide Eyed Abandon' (music)." More...

70.000 Tons of Metal: Day 1

After sitting out the 2018 edition Metalunderground.com writer and photographer Georg Wilfinger boarded The World’s Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise, 70.000 Tons of Metal again, taking place January 31st through February 4, 2019.
The largest and longest-running sea travel of its kind this year headed again from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Labadee, Haiti and back, featuring 60 bands playing 123 live shows on 4 stages to fans from over 74 different countries. For most fans on board it’s "the" annual metal highlight. Below you can see George's personal extensive photo-recap of the events, scenery, and shows of his favourite bands taking place on "The Independence Of The Seas" metal-battleship:
Day 1: Dark Funeral – Fleshgod Apocalypse – Soulfly – Bloodbath
Due to weather delays on the Northern American side - the snow and cold cancelling almost every flight – some bands and co-sponsors of the event arrived late at Port Everglades. So the boat was almost two hours late, when leaving the dock and the first bands were already performing their shows. Having cruised the 70K before, I could notice some nice improvements onboard, lots of new eateries and bars, even in the indoor venues.
Swedish black metal band from Stockholm Dark Funeral were afforded the Royal Theater, the biggest of the three indoor venues, performing their one hour set:

Kreator Heralds The European Apocalypse
I've mentioned before that 2018 had some of the most exciting tour packages in recent years. It can be argued that the most exciting of these was the Headbanger's Ball tour (see report on the London show here,) but for those who want more variety in a lineup, the European Apocalypse had you covered. What more could a metal fan ask for than to spend the evening with thrash metal gods Kreator, black metal outfit Dimmu Borgir, American hardcore stars Hatebreed and Swedish death metal supergroup Bloodbath? It was one Hell of a way to cap off the year and when the tour rolled into London, I was there to catch it in all of its glory.
Kicking things off in suitably dark fashion was Bloodbath. It was interesting comparing their opening slot inside the Roundhouse to the well received performance on the main stage of Bloodstock Open Air four months earlier. Frontman Nick Holmes proves once again that he's a natural fit for the band, delivering powerful screams interspersed with dry humour throughout and casting a tortured shadow over the stage. Material from their new album, "The Arrow Of Satan" is drawn sounds fantastic live and fits in perfectly with older songs such as "So You Die" and "Outnumbering The Day," before the quintet closed their set with a rendition of "Eaten." Great performance and an adrenaline raising way to get the night going. More...

Bloodbath Posts New Music Video Online
The 1980s saw these Swedish teenagers consuming all the horror and slasher movies they could, glued to their VHS’, their obsession with the genre only intensified as the media campaigned and lobbied against an outbreak of “video-violence”, preaching warnings of how it would ruin a generation of kids.
Fast forward 30 years and those media warnings have come to fruition as those teenagers grew up and became Bloodbath, Sweden’s shadiest death cult and they now present to you "Chainsaw Lullaby", the gore-filled, blood splattered ode to their weapon of choice spliced together with an AC/DC inspired death ‘n’ roll soundtrack.
Welcome to the terrifying Bloodbath world where the saw IS the law! More...
