Latest Dawn of Ashes News
Below is our complete Dawn of Ashes news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Dawn Of Ashes recently reformed (following a sting under the different name Urilia) and is gearing up to release a new album next year. The band today issues this update:
"Before we arrive into 2016, here is some exciting news about the upcoming DOA album. 'Theophany' is set to arrive next spring. As you may know, Dawn Of Ashes has risen again, and we are currently in the depths of creation on our new album 'Theophany.'
"The new record will summon forth the dark industrial metal that propelled DoA’s previous record 'Anathema' to critical acclaim, combined with the epic scope of our 2010 melodic death metal release 'Genocide Chapters' and introducing new elements that will take our work to the next level.
"DoA creator Kristof Bathory is co-producing 'Theophany' with Mick Kenney -- best known as multi-instrumentalist for British extreme metal unit Anaal Nathrakh -- whose previous production and songwriting credits include albums by Motionless In White, Bleeding Through, The Witch Was Right, and Suffer Well. 'Theophany' is now slated for release in May of 2016 through Metropolis Records. More details are coming soon…" More...
After previously spinning off into the band Urilia and then returning to Dawn Of Ashes again (read the statement from the band about that situation right here), a new album is now in the works titled "Theophany."
Set to drop in 2016, "Theophany" will be a blend of black metal and industrial dombining a fusion from the "Genocide Chapters" era and the "Anathema" era. Check out a teaser trailer below.
After disbanding and reforming as Urilia, Dawn Of Ashes is now back in its previous incarnation. The band comments:
"Dawn Of Ashes is proud to officially announce their resurrection… but first, we want to provide an explanation for the events of the past year. Fans who have stood by Dawn Of Ashes over the years deserve to know the reasons behind the band’s dissolution in 2014 and their reformation as Urilia.
"Following the release of the acclaimed 2013 album 'Anathema' we had reached a new creative peak, and the decision was made to seek an even higher profile under a different label and management. These new alliances prompted some business decisions which we realized were wrong for both the band and our fans.
"At the insistence of this label, Dawn Of Ashes was retitled, and the new project incorporated elements of extreme metal with a lyrical exploration of the Left Hand Path. While we still stand behind the quality and significance of this project, repeated attempts by the record label to dictate our creative and business practices threatened to undo the hard work and Kristof and his fellow artists have put forth for nearly 15 years. To correct this situation, we have formally severed ties with the label, and Urilia will be laid respectfully to rest after a brief but memorable time on Earth. More...
Dawn Of Ashes has released a new music video for "Poisoning The Steps Of Babel," which can be viewed below.
"Poisoning The Steps Of Babel," featuring Nero Bellum from Psyclon Nine, is featured on the 2013 album "Anathema" released via Metropolis Records.
Dawn Of Ashes has released newest record "Anathema" through Metropolis Records. The song "Poisoning the Steps of Babel" is also now available for streaming and can be heard below. The following press release was issued about the album:
"The album, 12 tracks of unrelenting evil dripping with malignant decadence and vicious debauchery, is a sinister mix of all that's dark in the already deviant world of industrial metal. From the characteristic muffled screams of desperate horror and droning feedback to the sleazy, grindhouse aura, the album is everything the dark metal enthusiasts pray for and stands as testament to Dawn of Ashes's position among Industrial and Shock Rock royalty."
Vocalist Kristof comments: "Anathema is an album in which I define to be the masterpiece from Dawn of Ashes and displays the hardworking progress it took to create this album. The album digs deep within the realms of my inner demons; delving into topics of suicide, pill addiction, the occult, blasphemy, and other content that is not for the weak-minded. I feel that all DOA fans (new and old) will be pleased with the outcome of Anathema as it blends a horrifying mixture of Metal, Industrial, & Rock. This is the new era for Dawn of Ashes and the evil shall grow stronger. Welcome to my breathing vision of Hell." More...

Vocalist Kristof Bathory from Dawn of Ashes has issued the statement regarding guitarist Volkar and bassist Othuum leaving the band:
"I will officially be taking over Dawn of Ashes as my solo band. Bahemoth & Rayne will still be in the band with a whole new live line up. I appreciate the hard work that Volkar & Othuum did for this band but it's time that DOA to go back to it's roots with a new feeling that I will be provoking. Stay Tuned! Cheers to Volkar & Othuum again!"
Othuum Volkar Kael also issued the following statement:
"Fans, Friends, Vile,
"Our time with Dawn Of Ashes has been quite a ride. Writing and performing for you has been such a reward.
However it is time that we moved on to other ventures. It is with no ill blood that we depart from DOA, we simply no longer feel we share the same vision or views as the other half of what was Dawn Of Ashes.
"We will be continuing to make music for you, and hope that many of you, including our 'Vile' will follow. We take this time now to announce our new project 'ALAL.' ALAL is the combined vision and sound of Volkar Kael and Othuum. The word 'ALAL' is Sumerian for 'Destroyer' which is most fitting for what we will be bringing your way.
"Thank you for all of your support, and we hope to see many of you spreading the word for things to come!"

Sweden's In Flames will unleash a 2nd digital single "Where The Dead Ships Dwell," off the new album "Sounds Of A Playground Fading," on November 15th.
In Flames was not shy of taking a new approach to the song "Where The Dead Ships Dwell" and went to extremes with the diverse partners that turned in three completely different remixes with versions by German rapper Casper, drum and bass act The Qemists, and Kristof Bathory, vocalist of the black metal band Dawn of Ashes.
"The songs have already been made and the originals are as good as they can be, but what if I give them to an artist from a whole different genre, what would be there take on it?" Says In Flames vocalist Anders Fridén. "I love collaborations like this and all the artists we worked with have done an awesome job. It's not meant to be taken dead serious and it's not how In Flames is gonna sound next, but I love it and I hope you'll enjoy a twist to the formula."
The track listing for the single is as follows:
1. Where The Dead Ships Dwell
2. Where The Dead Ships Dwell (Casper Remix)
3. Where The Dead Ships Dwell (The Qemists Remix)
4. Where The Dead Ships Dwell (Kristof Bathory - Dawn of Ashes Remix) (iTunes exclusive track)
Re-mixer Casper commented, "Since I have been a huge In Flames fan since I was a teenager, I was honored to even be considered for a remix of one of their songs from their new chart-topping album. When I used to play in metal bands, it was all about having riffs comparable to these guys and to now, as a rapper (!!!), be a part of the new single is mindblowing. We didn't really know how to approach the material, since it is my first remix job ever, so we went the dancy French house route. I really deeply do hope that people enjoy it. Feeling blessed."
