It's been months in the making, but the schedule for Blastfest 2016 is complete. Now in its third year, the Bergen festival has not only put together yet another incredible lineup, but also one in which will be a one-time-only celebration of the Norwegian scene.
A 100% Norwegian lineup, which includes the likes of Abbath, Arcturus, Taake, 1349, Gorgoroth and even some rare appearances from the likes of Green Carnation. Blastfest 2016 will be a truly memorable occasion, with chief and owner Yngve Christiansen comments:
"2016 will be a very special festival edition with a lineup consisting solely of Norwegian bands. The bands represented at Blastfest are the legends, those from the beginning, the ones who made it evolve... the ones who disappeared... the ones who never stopped... the ones whom you should have heard more about... and the ones you will hear about. We have done our best to make a strong lineup representing Norway in the best possible way." More...

"Also fresh from the same tour, Helheim's V'Gandr (Aeternus, Taake), will fill in on bass for Frank Watkins on the Gorgoroth tour. So fans of Gravdal, Helehim, Aeternus, Taake, Malsain, who are going to see Gorgoroth, keep a look out for the guys."
Norwegian folk black metallers Galar, whose second full-length album "Til Alle Heimsens Endar" was released on Dark Essence Records in March of this year, have announced the band’s live line up. Joining founder members M. Kristiansen (screams and rhythm guitar) and A. B. GRAVDAL has issued the following update:
"We’re now moving towards the close of the year, and it’s been a very eventful year for GRAVDAL, so we thought it was time for an update on what has been happening with the band, and a look ahead to the future."
"The biggest event for GRAVDAL in 2010 was of course the release of our second full-length album 'Torturmantra,' which was produced by ENSLAVED’s Herbrand Larsen, and recorded by Larsen, Bjørnar E. Nilsen and Arve Isdal. We saw 'Torturmantra' as a big step forward from our first album 'Sadist,' and an expansion of our ideas and sound for the band. The track that probably surprised most of you was of course the slower ballad-like 'Mishandlet,' a song that was new territory for us, and for which we were able to feature SHINING’s NIKLAS KVARFORTH on vocals. We have been very happy with the response to the album both from the fans and the press, and the feedback we have been getting has greatly encouraged us." More...
Classically trained musician Christina Sandsengen is set to make her debut appearance on bass for Norwegian black metallers Gravdal when the band plays at this year’s Hole in the Sky festival on August 28th. The band commented on recruiting Christina:
"With a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Guitar from the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Conservatorio 'Manuell Castillo' Superior de Musica in Seville, Christina is no stranger to the world of metal, having previously played with Immune and Lucid, and she is a current member of bands such as Bleed the Freak. It is anticipated that for the time being at least, Oslo-based Christina will take on the role of live session bass player.
"Due to the very strictly enforced age limits in clubs and venues, HITS for KIDZ is one of the rare opportunities for the younger Norwegian metal fans to attend a live concert. With no age limit, HITS for KIDZ, which is being held at the Garage venue, has become an extremely popular part of Hole in the Sky, attracting audiences of all ages. Aside from Gravdal, this year’s event will also feature sets from Norway’s Hellish Outcast and Germany’s Secrets of the Moon."
Norwegian metal act Gravdal has issued the following announcement about guitarist Specter joining Aeternus:
