"This is Where Death Begins" was produced by Oumi Kapila (Filter) plus Combichrist's own Andy LaPlegua and mastered by Vlado Meller (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slipknot). The 15-track album also features guest vocals from Chris Motionless (Motionless in White) and Ariel Levitan (MXMS).

After 10 years of electronica in the studio and a full live band, I feel like I captured the live sound and energy. Every style of music that I have done through the last 25 years has some kind of presence on this album."

New album "This is Where Death Begins" will be released on CD, deluxe double-CD, double-vinyl and as a strictly limited fan box containing the double-CD plus an exclusive DVD of the Combichrist performance at the Summer Breeze Festival 2015 in Germany. Combichrist Plays Elysium in Austin, Texas

Metal Underground.com has followed Combichrist's recent jaunt over Europe with Mortiis. That tour must have been special with two of the major players in the modern electro-industrial scene. On Friday, May 2nd, I caught Combichrist's mechanized performance at Elysium in Austin, Texas. This tour saw them at the top of the bill with William Control and New Year's Day providing support.

I missed New Year's Day as the concert started at 9 and not 9:30 as the event markers stated. I can't say I'm a fan of their pop-friendly California rock style, but I did hear good things about their performance. Much like the industrialized section of nu metal, the group wore face paint and watching a female singer front a hard rock band is always fun. I wish I could say more about the Anaheim-based group, but for now the You-tube video embedded below will have to suffice.

Mortiis Gearing Up For Tour With Combichrist

After a month of prepping, Mortiis is ready to hit the road later this week for a full European tour with Combichrist. "The new material rocks hard,” enthused Mortiis, namesake of the ever-evolving band. “The old has been upgraded to the point where it stands well next to the new material.”

The new material will be drawn from the band’s latest release, “Perfectly Defect,” which was released last fall as a free digital download. Mortiis will also showcase songs from the upcoming release, “The Great Deceiver.”

“Right now I’m equally curious, nervous, and excited about how our fans, old and new, will take to this,” he added. “We’ve spent a lot of energy in the last few weeks improving the quality of our live sound and I think it will be very obvious. I think it will translate to the actual performance of the band itself, as well.”

Mortiis also posted a teaser trailer online for the band's upcoming 2011 tour dates, which can be viewed below.

Mortiis Comments On Upcoming Tour

Mortiis will be kicking off a European tour this coming January alongside Combichrist. "In some fundamental ways, Combichrist and Mortiis are very different, but in other fundamental ways, we are very much the same," explained vocalist and namesake Mortiis. "At the end of the day, both bands have this 'f-you' attitude. It's expressed somewhat differently musically, but energy and attitude-wise we're carrying the same torch, so to speak. I think fans of both bands will pick up on that."

"We've seriously pimped up a selection of older songs that we'll be performing," Mortiis said. "So, across the board, it will be a new, and for lack of a better expression, very 'pimped up' bunch of songs!"

The dates are as follows: More...
