Johanne James won the best drummer award for the second consecutive year. Damian Wilson won the best vocalist award after returning to the band for last year's tour. All the confirmed bands thus far are: DIVISION BY ZERO, GHOST BRIGADE, PAGAN'S MIND, SUSPYRE and THRESHOLD.
UK prog-metal masters THRESHOLD have issued the following update:
Threshold plan to book more live shows for 2008 before thinking about new material. "The whole band have enjoyed touring more than ever this year and are hungry for more", commented guitarist Karl Groom. Threshold have already confirmed their appearance at the Legacy Festival in Serbia next May alongside bands including TESTAMENT and RAGE, and should be announcing more shows soon.
Threshold ended their 2007 dates with a sold out performance to 8,000 fans at WITHIN TEMPTATION's homecoming show in Holland. "It was wonderful to be asked to support Within Temptation", commented vocalist Damian Wilson. "They've achieved so much and put on a spectacular, faultless show. For us it was the perfect end to a great tour, and I feel the beginning of a very positive new era for Threshold". Wilson was Threshold's original vocalist and recently returned to the band following the departure of Andrew McDermott. "Having Damian back has brought a new energy and excitement to our live shows", commented keyboardist Richard West. "We've been having such a good time it's a shame the year's over". Damian Wilson will continue touring with the band in 2008 but no decision has yet been made about his involvement on future albums.
After signing with Nuclear Blast last year, Threshold released their 8th studio album Dead Reckoning in March 2007. The album brought the band their best chart success to date in the UK, Germany and Holland, and led to tracks on numerous compilations as well as a major Hollywood soundtrack. The band toured Europe in the Autumn with a strong support package featuring COMMUNIC, MACHINE MEN and SERENITY, as well as playing many festivals in the UK, US and Europe.
Threshold's live line-up also included Soliloquy's Pete Morten on guitar. "I've made no secret about how amazing it was to tour with Threshold this year! For the first time in my life, I feel I've experienced professional touring the way that it was meant to be experienced" commented Morten. "I've made five new 'best friends' in Karl, Rich, Steve, Johanne and Damian".
Threshold closed the year by releasing their first retrospective The Best Of Threshold - The Ravages Of Time.
UK prog-metallers THRESHOLD have issued the following update:
"As of 2008 guitarist Karl Groom will be using the Rocktron Prophesy II in his set-up after signing an endorsement deal with Rocktron - Technology For Guitarists. After quite a bit of damage to his current set-up on numerous Threshold flights this year, Karl has been looking at more portable options for this kind of gig. The Rocktron Prophesy II features a valve pre-amp with built in effects from the company that brought out the Intellifex. The sound can be quite similar to the JMP1 based set-up, but is small enough to go as hand baggage and plug into any rig waiting at a festival."
Veteran San Francisco Bay Area thrashers TESTAMENT have been confirmed for the Legacy Festival, set to take place May 30-31, 2008 in Belgrade, Serbia. The festival billing is now shaping up as follows:

TESTAMENT recently recruited Paul Bostaph (SLAYER, EXODUS, FORBIDDEN, SYSTEMATIC) to play the drums on new CD. The group was previously rehearsing and writing new material with British drummer Nick Barker (CRADLE OF FILTH, DIMMU BORGIR), but Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and international work visa issues have prevented Barker from continuing to be involved in the project.
Bostaph, who was a member of TESTAMENT for a brief period starting around February 2004, had previously played several live dates with the group in 1992 and appeared on the band's 1993 live EP, "Return to the Apocalyptic City". He also toured with TESTAMENT in 2006.
TESTAMENT's current lineup is rounded out by Chuck Billy on vocals, Eric Peterson on rhythm guitar, Alex Skolnick on lead guitar and Greg Christian on bass.

Threshold are currently making final preparations for their forthcoming European tour starting at the end of August. It features a strong three band support package: COMMUNIC, MACHINE MEN and SERENITY. The tour takes in Germany, Holland, Czech Republic, Hungary, France, Switzerland and Belgium, with Threshold going on to play further dates in England, Denmark and the US later in the year with the likes of IT BITES, KAMELOT and AFTER FOREVER.
Threshold recently experienced the unexpected departure of their singer Mac just days before their first festivals of the year, but fortunately the band's original vocalist Damian Wilson was able to step in for all this year's tour dates. Wilson sang on the band's first and third albums, but apart from a few live UK shows before the release of Wounded Land, he has only toured once with the band back in 1997. "Having Damian Wilson back on vocals adds an edge to the shows this time around", says guitarist and founding member Karl Groom. "Fans who have never had a chance to see him perform with Threshold now have a great opportunity we never thought would happen."
Damian Wilson is also currently lead singer of HEADSPACE, a British progressive rock band featuring keyboard player Adam Wakeman, son of the legendary YES keyboard player Rick Wakeman. Fortunately the Threshold tour dates didn't clash with any Headspace commitments, and after playing two festivals with Threshold in July, Wilson was able to commit to the rest of Threshold's tour schedule. "Playing the festivals was a lot of fun, even without preparation and it was compelling to be greeted with such a positive response. I guess it's the same with most singers; give me a stage and I'm happy, give me an audience and I'm thrilled."
Also new to the band's touring line-up this year is guitarist Pete Morten, filling in for Nick Midson who decided to take some time off from the band last year. "This is a moment in my life that I am very much looking forward to and I don't plan on taking it for granted", says Morten. He also fronts his own band who are currently being produced by Karl Groom. "I see this tour with Threshold as an amazing opportunity to not only play with an amazing band and further my craft as a musician, but see this as a great promotional vehicle for my own band SOLILOQUY."
This year's set list will include a blend of new songs from the Dead Reckoning album alongside older classics including songs from when Damian Wilson was in the band. "We're doing a few tracks from Wounded Land and Extinct Instinct, but the main focus is to promote the new album," says keyboard player Richard West. "We ended the last two festivals with 'This Is Your Life' (from Dead Reckoning) and Damian really owned it, he gave it a new flavour and it sounded amazing."
Mac has confirmed that he's left Threshold. In a statement he told fans that he knew the timing was bad but thanked them for all their support. He also wished the band all the best and expressed his gratitude to the band's original singer Damian Wilson for standing in for him at last weekend's festivals.
Mac replaced Damian Wilson as Threshold's vocalist in 1998 and recorded five studio albums with the band as well as various live and fan club releases. He was previously lead singer for German band Sargant Fury who released three albums in the 1990's.
Threshold had confirmed that Damian Wilson would once again perform with them at the Subtacto Festival in Oslo, Norway on 4 August, however the Progfest has announced financial difficulties and has cancelled Threshold and Pendragon from the bill.
A statement posted on the Subtacto website explained that "The reason for this is that we as organisers don't have enough funds to see this through. We therefore have to reorganise the event, and that means that we can't afford those two bands."
Threshold are disappointed at the cancellation and expressed their sympathy to all their fans who bought tickets and were hoping to see them perform. The festival is offering full refunds to fans who no longer want to attend. Talks are also in progress to see if Wilson can perform at all of Threshold's remaining 2007 shows.
The band recently released their 8th album "Dead Reckoning" on March 23.
DARKANE and MACHINE MEN have been confirmed for the ProgPower Scandinavia festival, set to take place November 9-10, 2007 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The festival billing is shaping up as follows:
