Threshold Posts "Staring At The Sun" Music Video

U.K. progressive metal band Threshold posted a new music video for the song "Staring at the Sun." The now official video was created by Achim Bieler of Germany, a fan and winner of the fan made video contest held by the band. The song appears on the latest release "March of Progress," which is available now through Nuclear Blast.

Threshold Reissuing Back Catalog With Bonus Tracks

Nuclear Blast Records has issued the following announcement about reissuing Threshold's back catalog with extras:

"After the phenomenal reactions to Threshold’s new amazing progressive metal masterpiece 'March Of Progress' (out since the 24th of August), Nuclear Blast is now happy to offer you the 'Definitive Editions' – a series of reissue of the entire Threshold discography (except for the band’s 2007 Nuclear Blast debut 'Dead Reckoning'), including extensive bonus material!"

Guitarist and founding member Karl Groom states: “It is exciting to see Nuclear Blast releasing the Definitive Editions of each album now. This is where it all began and where Threshold set its style!”

The definitive editions of “Hypothetical” (2001), “Critical Mass” (2002), and “Subsurface” (2004) are due out on the 16th of November 2012. The definitive editions of “Extinct Instinct” (1997) and “Clone” (1998) are available now, and the track listings can be found below. More...

Threshold Posts Footage Of Former Vocalist

One year on from the sad passing of former Threshold vocalist Andrew "Mac" McDermott, the U.K. metallers have uploaded some previously unseen footage of one of Mac's last performances with the band as a tribute to him. Recorded at the Z7 in Switzerland, you can now watch Threshold perform "Mission Profile” during the Subsurface tour of 2004. Check it out below.

Threshold Issues Recording Update

British metallers Threshold are in the final stages of recording their ninth studio album "March of Progress." The album is being produced by Karl Groom and Richard West at Thin Ice Studios with additional production at Eightspace Studio.

Vocal duties on "March of Progress" have been performed by Threshold's original frontman Damian Wilson, who's been back touring with the band since the release of its previous studio album "Dead Reckoning" in 2007.

Commented Damian Wilson: "I've really enjoyed being back in the studio with Rich and Karl. It feels like the good old days, wailing away at Thin Ice Studios again! My voice has been strong and powerful, it feels like my best work." More...

Threshold Cancels Release Shows

Threshold has issued the following announcement about canceling the band's previously scheduled release shows for the new "March of Progress" album:

"British progressive metallers THRESHOLD are sorry to announce the cancellation of all their pre-release shows that were planned for April 2012.

"THRESHOLD are currently in the studio recording their ninth album 'March of Progress,' but regretfully vocalist Damian Wilson has been taken ill so all of the band's plans are now delayed."

Threshold also previously announced some of the provisional song titles to appear on the album include "Ashes," "Return of the Thought Police," "Staring at the Sun," and "Divinity."

Threshold Announces New Album Title

British metallers Threshold have announced that their new album will be called "March of Progress" and is due for release through Nuclear Blast Records in 2012. The band commented:

"The provisional song titles on the new album are 'Ashes', 'Return of the Thought Police', 'Colophon', 'Staring at the Sun', 'Liberty Complacency Dependency', 'Divinity', 'The Hours', 'Don't Look Down', 'That's Why we Came', 'The Rubicon' & 'Coda'.

"'March of Progress' sees the return of original Threshold vocalist Damian Wilson (HEADSPACE, STAR ONE) who rejoined the band in 2007 following the departure of Andrew 'Mac' McDermott, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

"The album is being produced at Thin Ice Studios and Eightspace Studio in the UK by Karl Groom and Richard West. Threshold will perform a handful of pre-release shows in April 2012 to promote the album."

Further details on the upcoming album release will be announced as they are made available.

Kingcrow To Support Threshold

As was previously announced, Threshold will be heading off on a string of pre-release shows in April for an as-yet-untitled album. The band has now announced Italian rockers Kingcrow will support Threshold for three of the dates.

The Italians recently toured Europe to promote the new album "Phlegethon" supporting Redemption. Kingrowwill support THRESHOLD at the following shows:

Threshold Posts Recording Update On New LP

British progressive metal band Threshold checked in to report that the band is currently recording the yet untitled ninth studio release at Thin Ice Studios in Surrey, England.

The reports reads as follows:

"The band have finished pre-production and are now tracking drums. 'We've got about 75 minutes of music at the moment so there's plenty to do' said keyboard player Richard West, who is producing the album alongside guitarist Karl Groom. 'I'm very pleased with the way this album is coming together' commented Groom. 'It is particularly good to see contributions in writing from more band members.'

"The new album sees the return of original THRESHOLD vocalist Damian Wilson (HEADSPACE, STAR ONE) who rejoined the band in 2007 following the departure of Andrew 'Mac' McDermott who sadly passed away on 3 August.

"THRESHOLD's previous studio album 'Dead Reckoning' was released in 2007 and featured guest vocals by Dan Swanö (NIGHTINGALE, BLOODBATH). The album entered the charts at position 64 in Germany, 95 in The Netherlands and 37 in the UK rock chart.

"THRESHOLD will release their new album through Nuclear Blast Records in 2012."

Former Threshold Vocalist Passes Away

Andrew 'Mac' McDermott, the former lead singer of British heavy metal outfit Threshold, passed away yesterday in England. A condolence page has been set up for the vocalist, which you can visit by clicking here. McDermott has reportedly been suffering from "serious health problems" for a while, which resulted in him leaving the band Powerworld in June. The cause of death is presently unknown.

McDermott was best known for his tenure as the vocalist for Threshold, a position he held from 1998's, "Clone" album to 2007's, "Dead Reckoning." He also spent time with German metal band Sargent Fury in the early 90's and most recently was part of the band Swamp Freaks.

Threshold Recording New Album

Threshold has checked in with the following update about wrapping up its summer tour dates and entering the studio to record a new album:

"Threshold are back from their final shows of the summer after some great performances in the Netherlands and at the Night Of The Prog Festival in Germany.

"The band will now return to the studio to complete work on their forthcoming ninth studio album, due for release through Nuclear Blast Records in 2012."
