Threshold Singer To Miss Remaining 2024 Tour Dates
British progressive metal veterans Threshold has announced that singer Glynn Morgan has been forced to sit out of the remaining shows in 2024 following surgery. Taking his place behind the microphone will be former Power Quest and Arthemis vocalist Alessio Garavello. A message from Morgan reads as follows:
"Hands down this is one of the biggest decisions I never wanted to make. Being a singer and losing your voice is indescribable both physically and emotionally, and not knowing how long it would take to recover made it a huge gamble both for myself and the band for me to commit to the upcoming tour.
"I would like to wish my band mates all the best for the adventure ahead and a huge thank you to Alessio Garavello for stepping up and grabbing the mic in my place. Threshold fans are the best in the world so I'm sure he's gonna get a warm, loud welcome!
"Thankfully my voice is getting stronger day by day and I am now totally confident of a full recovery given time. A massive thank you to all those who wished me well and I promise I will be back!"

Threshold Announces London Show
Prog metal masters Threshold have announced an exclusive UK show for 2023, with the band set to land in London on the 13th May. The band will also be appearing at Cambridge Rock Festival in August and will headline the final day of Summer's End Festival in October.
The show will serve as the band's first opportunity to perform songs from their critically acclaimed 2022 record "Dividing Lines."
Threshold keyboardist Richard West comments: "It's almost five years since we played in London so we're thrilled to be coming back for an exclusive UK club show. Expect a healthy dose of our new album Dividing Lines along with some old favourites!"
Threshold Announces European Tour Dates
Threshold are about to hit Europe with their latest and critically acclaimed record Dividing Lines in spring 2023. Guitarist Karl Groom states:
"It has been too long since Threshold were on tour and the band cannot wait to get out and present Dividing Lines along with some fan favourites in 2023!"
Formed in leafy Surrey in the late ‘80s, Threshold truly blossomed in the following decade, and swiftly established themselves as the UK’s chief progressive metal standard bearers. From 1993’s Wounded Land debut onwards, the enduring creative core of guitarist Karl Groom and keyboard maestro Richard West constructed a unique new strain of heavy, progressive music, combining incisive melodies, thought-provoking lyrics and intricate but thunderous arrangements. Threshold have marched inexorably forward across three decades of creative fervour, arguably hitting a new peak of potency on the conceptual and musical splurge of 2017’s Legends Of The Shires.
With Glynn Morgan back in the fold, the Brits’ enduring line-up of Groom, West, drummer Johanne James and bassist Steve Anderson somehow pushed themselves to new heights, receiving widespread acclaim and finding themselves in more demand than ever before. Despite the unavoidable setback of a global pandemic, the band arrive in 2022 in the best of health.
Following up a newly-minted classic was always going to present Thrteshold with a challenge, but the band’s twelfth studio album swiftly confirms that the challenge has been met. Darker, heavier and even more adventurous than its predecessor, Dividing Lines reveals a band with a lot on their collective mind, while also boasting some of the most wildly inventive and melodically potent material they have ever recorded.
Support acts will be announced soon.

Threshold Reveals New Album Details
Threshold return with their 12th full length album "Dividing Lines," which is set to be released on 18th November via Nuclear Blast Records.
"Dividing Lines" marks the second album since the return of former vocalist Glynn Morgan, who reunited with the band on their previous effort "Legends Of The Shires" (2017). A darker album than "Legends Of The Shires," the band have described it as “Legends’ darker, moodier older brother”.
Get your first taste of the album with the single "Silenced," which comes with a stunning new video, below.
Richard West comments on the song: "'Silenced 'is about how we seem to be heading towards less voices, less artists, less venues, less platforms where everyone can be heard. People seem so scared to speak out or debate anything anymore. I know I sound old but I miss the good old days! When freedom of speech goes then society is lost."
The video was filmed by Sitcom Soldiers in the UK who also filmed the band's last video "Small Dark Lines." The video portrays a boy coming up against a threatening foe, only defeating them by summoning a mighty scream (unsilenced).
Threshold Begins Recording New Album
British prog metal mainstays Threshold have entered Thin Ice Studios in Surrey, England to record the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2017 album "Legends Of The Shires."
Guitarist Karl Groom comments: "After not seeing the rest of the band for the longest time I can recall, it's great to be spending time together making music again. A new Threshold album is always special for the band, but this will mean a lot after recent events."
Following the release of "Legends Of The Shires," Threshold toured the album across 18 different countries before their touring plans were put to a halt by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Legends Of The Shires" saw the return of vocalist Glynn Morgan, for the first time since the band's 1994 record "Psychedelicatessen." In regards to rejoining the band, and recording the follow up to "Legends...," Glynn explains: "It's an absolute buzz meeting up with the guys again and totally exciting to be getting going again. The whole 'Legends' journey was just so cool and it was awesome to be part of it, I just can’t wait to do it again!" More...
Threshold Begins Work On New Album
British prog metallers Threshold have confirmed they've started work on a follow-up to their 2017 double album "Legends of the Shires."
As with most bands, Threshold's plans have been heavily disrupted during 2020 with tours to Europe and Australia cancelled due to coronavirus.
Guitarist Karl Groom commented: "It’s a good feeling to have something positive to say about music again. We've been writing for a new Threshold album for a while now and are starting to exchange demos. Following 'Legends of the Shires' is quite a thing, but we've always aimed to take a step forward each album and I'm very excited by what we have so far!"
Threshold's new album is expected to be released in 2021.

Threshold Tells Of "Legends" In London
The idea of performing an album in full is one which has become a common trait these days. Everyone from Slayer and Metallica to Amorphis and even Snoop Dogg performing classic record from their back catalogue in full. Few bands however, take the decision to perform their new album in full and when they do, it can be seen as self-indulgent and short changing the fans, as many British Iron Maiden fans complained when the group played "A Matter Of Life And Death" in its entirety in 2006. Threshold however, have chosen the perfect moment to do this. Their latest album, "Legends Of The Shire" has received overwhelming praise from fans and critics and a year after the release, giving fans time to digest the record and so it seems the opportune time to embark on such an endeavour, which I was able to see at the concluding show in London.
Opening the show was Swiss outfit Maxxwell. Bringing with them a more classic heavy metal sound which would fit in well in arenas, the quintet are a great opening act that filled the room with excitement and a sense of fun. Promoting (heavily) their new album, "Metalized," the old school vibes of songs like, "She's Mine" went down a treat and delighted attendees who were polite enough to turn up early and check them out. Chants of "We want more" as they were finishing up and leaving the stage was an interesting sight for an opening band, especially one which had never performed in the country before. More...

70000 Tons Of Metal: Day Four
All good things must come to an end, as they say. After three fantastic days at sea with sixty one metal bands, it almost time to head up. Fret ye not however, as there was still one more day filled with metal for those on board to enjoy.
Up first (at least for me,) was sunshine, fresh air and German thrash metal, as Destruction took to the stage for their second set of the cruise. The setlist wasn't changed enormously from their first, though this time "Nailed To The Cross" went down particularly well as there were two men dressed as Jesus in the mosh pit. Sacrilicious. Fortunately, the teutonic trio faced no visible technical problems this time around and put on a hell of a show, despite playing in the earliest slot of their career. It shouldn't be necessary to say this, but Destruction are one of the top thrash bands in history, still to this day, thanks not only to their superb catalogue, but to their towering stage presence and scorching live performances.
Following some lunch and finally being able to get into the merch room, it was a trip to the Alhambra Theater for something very special; The All Star Jam, hosted by Annihilator founder Jeff Waters. Members from many bands on board joined together to perform metal classics and favourites. Naturally, some groupings and songs went down better than others, with highlights including Riot's, "Swords and Tequila" performed by Snake from Voivod, Mike Silfringer of Destruction, Metal Church drummer Stet Howland, Korpiklaani bassist Jesper Anastasiadis and Primal Fear guitarist Tom Naumann, as well as the AC/DC classic, "Hells Bells," sung by Battle Beast's, Noora Louhimo, with Elias Viljanen if Sonata Arctica and Jeff Waters on guitar duties, Primal Fear's Mat Sinner on bass and Enslaved drummer Cato Bekkevold, all before the final number, which saw the dreams of thrash metal fans come true as Kreator frontman Mille Petrozza joined Destruction's Schmier and Vavver on stage to perform Metallica's, "Whiplash," in a lineup that was rounded up by Andreas Kisser of Sepultura and Matt Harvey of Exhumed performing guitars. A one of a kind experience which is a real treat for metal fans. More...

70000 Tons Of Metal: Day Two
After a superb first day aboard the Independence Of The Seas, it was time for another long day of seeing and meeting some of the most revered bands in metal. There's worse ways of spending a long weekend I suppose...
A late night and jet lag meant sleeping in longer than expected and missing out on the first few bands, though I was up and fed in time to head to the pool deck for the first time and check out one of the greatest names in British death metal, Benediction. While some may onky recognise them as the group Barney Greenway fronted before joining Napalm Death, the Birmingham based bruisers have had a long career with some outstanding music under their belts and it's fair to say that a live setting is the best place to sample it. There's no frills and no pretentiousness about Benediction, they're working class English guys who play old school, thrash inspired death metal and they do it wonderfully. I imagine Benediction to thrive in a small venue, which makes an outdoor venue with thousands of potential crowd members something of a risk, as not all bands used to intimate stages can work on a bigger setting. I'm pleased to report however, that Benediction don't have this problem. Those in attendance were treated to a blistering performance, which no doubt won over those who are put off by the poor production of their earlier work and delighted fans and curious parties. A great way to kick off the day. More...
