With some after parties of legendary proportions at one of Helsinki’s many metal bars, I have to admit waking up was not so easy Saturday morning. And then I remembered it was day two of the expo, and went on my merry way back downtown. Day two of the expo would ring in the Finnish metal awards as well as many more bands, with the headliners today being Stam1na and Turisas. More...
Finnish act Pressure Points has checked in with the following announcement about recruiting a new guitarist and working on an upcoming album:
"Up and running! After a refreshing half-a-year break the band is active again. First and foremost we are proud to announce the joining of a young and talented guitarist to the band.
"After Juho's departure, Timo carried on his duties as a live guitarist, and now we get to enjoy his calm personality and song-writing skills as a permanent member of the band. Welcome, Timo Ruokola!
"We are currently writing material for our second album and searching a publisher to release it. To enhance this project Pressure Points is performing in the Finnish Metal Expo on February 18th."
Finland's Pressure Points has issued the following update about parting ways with guitarist Juho Suortti:
"Juho Suortti, our long-time friend and fellow musician, has decided to leave Pressure Points. Juho has gone through some major changes in his life and felt he could not continue with the band anymore. The news was shocking, as it came out of the blue, but now it is time to look forward.
"Every black cloud has a silver lining indeed: Juho's departure gave us a chance to think about the line-up from a new perspective. We have now agreed to begin the search for a new singer-guitarist. Primarily we are looking for a leading clean vocalist with good guitar skills. We expect the person to be passionate about singing and creating vocal arrangements. Having artistic vision and songwriting skills is an advantage. Joining the band requires commitment and devotion, as we are looking for a permanent member, not a session musician. We practice in Heinola once or twice a month during the weekends, and do gigs quite often.
"Nearly all the material is written for the second album. It is in our plans to head for the studio soon after we have found the new member. Negotiations with different labels about the publishing are proceeding. We have played over 100 gigs and recently toured with Nile abroad. So this is the real deal."

Finland's Pressure Points has issued the following update about working on new material:
"Hello fans and friends! Summer is coming so we want to tell you of some of our near future plans and remind you of our summer festival appearances. First of all, we are proud to announce that we'll be playing live with Ajattara at the Tuska festival afterparty, on July 4th, at Dante's Highlight, Helsinki (next weekend). We will also play at the Dark River festival, on August 7th, in Kotka. In autumn we'll be playing a few shows in Sweden with Carnal Forge!
"The swarming caused by Remorses to Remember has been larger than expected, but that hasn't slowed us down. In fact, we have been writing new material for our next album and we will continue writing and rehearsing for the summer and autumn. That means we won't be playing live as intensively as before, but still do some live performances so that we won't get bored and kill each other at the training crib. The schedule of our next album is still undecided - work is in progress. We will keep you updated."
