Poland's Vesania just released a new song from forthcoming album, "Deus Ex Machina." The track, "Dismay," is streaming below, thanks to Revolvermag.com.
The Polish symphonic black metal act - that features current and former members of Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Vader, and Decapitated - has been releasing albums and touring in Europe for over a decade. The band's fourth full-length album, and first since 2007, is scheduled for release on October 28th, 2014 via Metal Blade Records.
The band had this to say about the "Dismay" track: "I often hear the opinion, and I agree with it - this album has no 'single,' each track is different, has its own atmosphere and is equally important for the overall impression. 'Dismay' is the song we started the recordings with, and this is the one that best defines the 'rock' sound of 'Deus Ex Machina.' 'Dismay' is relatively slower, sounds progressive, rather than black metal, and it adds a breath of air between the more intense songs. This is also the particular track, where the 'god from the machine' from the album title is mentioned and comes down to earth." More...
Poland's Vesania, the symphonic black metal act that features current and former members of Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Vader, and Decapitated, have been toiling for over a decade. Their roots are firmly planted in Poland, but their reach has been expanding throughout the years across the globe.
The collective experience of the members of the band speaks volumes of their knowledge and ability to craft world class albums. The band's fourth full-length album "Deus Ex Machina," the first since 2007, is finally scheduled for release on October 24th (G/A/S), October 27th (EU) and October 28th (North America) via Metal Blade Records.
There's no singular unifying lyrical concept on "Deus Ex Machina," but there's a main theme, a coherent and deliberate thread running from the title through the music. The title of the album is a term from ancient Greek tragedy and translates to "god from the machine." The idea for the concept was that a machine, typically a rudimentary crane, would lower a thespian playing god onto the stage to solve the seemingly unsolvable conflict in the plot. In modern entertainment, the term has evolved to primarily refer to a cheap solution in a poorly written script or novel.
Alternatively, Vesania's "Deus Ex Machina" is a call for any kind of help or intervention because all of the lyrics on the album are hopeless and show characters in situations that leaves them powerless. One of the tracks tells the story of the lowering of an actor, supposedly the god, onto a stage before a corrupted man searching for answers. Instead, that actor is lowered by a noose around their neck, having already died. The lyrics paint a drab picture, particularly when paired with equally bleak music. Recording was completed at Sound Division Studio, with mastering by Scott Hull at Visceralsound Studios.

Vesania has been forced to postpone their fall tour until the end of 2008, as their drummer has joined Dimmu Borgir on tour and the schedules of the two bands are in conflict. Here's \what the band had to say:
"The tour which was planned for the beginning of autumn has been postponed till the last months of 2008.
"The reason? - The fact that prooves the strengh of Polish metal scene and the class of its musicians. The drummer of VESANIA, also known from VADER - Daray - has become a member of DIMMU BORGIR - a band that doesn't need introduction to metal fans. Their concert plans have coincided with the plans of Vesania and Creative Music. That's why we are obliged to apologise to Polish fans and postpone the Vesania tour in Poland making sure that the additional time will be used to prepare it even better.
"We will be back with an even more venomous and hellish sound. The info about the new dates will be up soon. Congratulations Daray! In Sorte Diaboli!"
Guitarist Thrufel (AZARATH, YATTERING) has issued the following update regarding his MASACHIST project, also featuring Daray (drummer of VADER, VESANIA and NEOLITHIC):
"We are currently recording our debut album 'Death March Fury' at Progresja studio in Warsaw [Poland]. So far we have recorded the drum and guitar parts. As for the drums, I have to say that Daray totaly outdid himself this time. Absolute fury, violence and bone breaking! In his own words, he has never before recorded such insane drum lines, and I must add that this album will once again prove that he truly deserves to wear that black belt of extreme drumming!!! I have played with many amazing drummers, including Zombek (YATTERING), Inferno and recently Adam from LOST SOUL (awesome death metal band), but fuck! Right now Daray is simply the best! Non-believers will soon be proven wrong" More...
Polish black metal masters VESANIA, whose lineup includes Orion (BEHEMOTH) and Daray (VADER), have completed work on their third album, "Distractive Killusions", at Studio X in Olsztyn, Poland. The band recorded and mixed the effort with engineer Szymon Czech between February and June 2007.
Commented Orion (guitar, vocals): "Last months have been the time of the hard work for us. Although we had many other responsibilities, we've managed to take care of VESANIA. We've completely devoted our time to this recording. After Daray was done with drum tracks, there was the time for guitars. The old Gibson Les Paul Custom and the amps: Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier and Diezel Herbert — that was the configuration we used this time. Worked with no excuses. The sound we achieved is full and juicy. It perfectly coexists with all other instruments." More...
MASACHIST is a band formed by Thrufel (guitarist known from AZARATH and YATTERING) and Daray (drummer of VADER, VESANIA and NEOLITHIC).
A posting on the band's official website states:
"The idea of creating MASACHIST has been in my mind for years but it finally took its shape after meeting Daray in 2005. Convergent music tastes and views on playing extreme sounds resulted in a will to create something new, fresh and different from what we've been playing with our bands.
Due to Daray's responsibilities in VADER we could not rehearse regularly. Nevertheless, our determination resulted in writing a promising material. So far we have recorded drum tracks for our two-song promo. You can find a sample of it here. The rest of the material should be recorded sometime in January '07.
We would like to stress that it is not just a brief cooperation. We are currently working on a full-length album. More details coming soon. Stay tuned!"
Polish black metal masters VESANIA, whose lineup includes Orion (BEHEMOTH) and Daray (VADER), have posted the following message on their official web site:
"We recently returned from another collection of shows that took us through Scandinavia with CRYPTOPSY, ABORTED, VISCERAL BLEEDING; and then through Poland on the Polish leg of the Blitzkrieg IV Tour with VADER, TRAUMA, and AZARATH.
"The Scandinavian tour was a further opportunity for us to perform in places we've never ventured before. The highlight of the tour was undoubtedly Finland, an experience that we're going to remember for a very long time.
"In general, the tour provided many unforgettable moments, great company and a tonne of strengthening and motivating energy. Another experience and another step forward for the band with the final show being an important milestone in the history of VESANIA!
"Blitzkrieg IV was another chapter altogether. The expectations we had were really hard to define as a place on the bill with VADER doesn't necessarily guarantee good shows. Whilst it was a great honour, we knew that in order to be well received we had to put in a lot of hard work. Fortunately, all of our anxiety dissipated on the very first day. The audience, including guests, was nigh on 1000 and the response was just unbelievable and this evening set the tone for the rest of the tour. This enormous energy that we receive from you all is the reason for us showing up on stage every evening and it means a real lot. We're growing stronger as a band thanks to your hunger for our music. Thank you all so very, very much for everything. We needed this dose of inspiration and emotion before undertaking the next album.
"By the way, news about the new stuff will be coming soon so stay tuned. We'd also like to apologise regarding the show in Opole where we've been banned. Unfortunately, not all things are within our control...
"To sum things up, 'God The Lux' turned out to be a breakthrough for us as an album but also on the live front as well. We hit the road for this album with The Domination Tour in February 2006 closely followed by Metalmania and the God The Black Eastern European Tour (headlining) in March, the Scandinavian/European Tour in August/September and finally Blitzkrieg IV. All in all, close to 80 shows! This is a good result and we made it through! Big thanks must go to the Massive Music agency for allowing us the opportunity to be such an active band. Further shows will follow the forthcoming album - see you soon, take care!"
