Biohazard To Enter The Studio In January

New York hardcore legends Biohazard has announced that they will be hitting the studio next month to record their first album since 2005's "Means To An End." The new album will feature the bands original lineup of Evan Seinfeld, Billy Graziadei, Bobby Hambel and Danny Schuler. This will be the first time the original lineup have recorded together since the 1996 album, "State Of The World Address." The new album will be released in the summer of 2010, with a world tour planned to kick off in April.

Bass player/vocalist Evan Seinfeld states: "Biohazard and our four diverse, yet equal and integral parts converge upon our LA Underground Sound studio and resurrect our patented ‘meat grinder’ writing process. Each guy brings something - riffs, lyrics, concepts, songs, melodies, chants - and we get in a room and hammer it out. I have personally missed this process over the last years but having Bobby back in the band has brought back some extra fire that has helped remind all of us what the Brooklyn style is all about. The process is exhausting, humbling, magical and empowering all at the same time. One of the songs we wrote in our first ‘round’ of this battle, ‘Vengeance Is Mine’, we just played in all of Europe, London, and Moscow and went over so well live, that I am sure we are on the right track."

Evile Covers Pantera, Last Recording w/ Bassist

British thrashers EVILE recently recorded a PANTERA track for the upcoming Dimebag Darrell tribute album, which will be released on the cover of the 200th issue of the UK's Metal Hammer magazine.

The special CD and magazine are being released to coincide with the five-year anniversary of Dimebag's passing, and will be available in shops on December 16th.

Alongside various other well-known bands such as MACHINE HEAD, EVILE were asked to record a song as a tribute to the late guitarist. EVILE recorded a cover of the track "Cemetary Gates," and this tragically turned out to be the band's last recording before the untimely death of their own bassist, Mike Alexander, who passed away on October 5th while on tour in Sweden.

A behind-the-scenes video - the last video filmed with Mike - of EVILE recording the track at Parlour Studios with producer Russ Russell can be viewed below.

EVILE lead guitarist Ol Drake comments:

"The day we got the call from our manager, Julie Weir, saying Metal Hammer have asked us to pay tribute to Dimebag Darrell by covering a Pantera song, we couldn't have been more excited and honoured. I mean, how many more bands are there more worthy of paying tribute to the man? With us all being fans of Pantera, we swiftly said yes. Mike though was the biggest Pantera fan. He'd seen them years ago and absolutely worshipped Dimebag.

"After Dime got killed, Mike couldn't listen to 'Cemetary Gates' anymore. He'd always ask us to skip the track in the car/van/bus because it was too much for him. So when we chose to do the track it was tough for Mike, but I'm glad he did it. It turned out to be the last song he recorded, which to me is a strangely 'appropriate' tribute to him and Dimebag. I remember him nearing the verge of tears whilst I was doing the tremolo bends at the end of the track.

"We hope Pantera/Dimebag fans find this a fitting tribute from us, as we're simply fans ourselves who've been given this rare honour."

Metal Hammer editor Alexander Milas comments:

"I was genuinely over the moon when Evile volunteered to produce a track for our upcoming Dimebag tribute, a stunningly rendered cover of Pantera's classic 'Cemetary Gates'. So when the truly tragic news of Mike Alexander's all-too-premature departure from this world hit the office, the tragic irony wasn't lost on me or anyone here that Mike Alexander's tribute to the immortal legacy of Dimebag would also be a final testament to his own impeccable musicianship and commitment to the music we love.

"To understate the case slightly, it's a very special track indeed, and we're honoured that it's a part of our upcoming tribute collection. Rest in peace Dimebag, and rest in peace Mike Alexander."

The Dimebag Darrell tribute album contains the following tracks:

01. ZAKK WYLDE - "Suicide Note Pt. 1"
02. MACHINE HEAD - "Fucking Hostile"
03. MALEFICE - "I'm Broken"
05. EVILE - "Cemetery Gates"
07. BIOHAZARD - "Mouth For War"
08. SYLOSIS - "Strength Beyond Strength"
09. CHIMAIRA - "Slaughtered"
10. UNEARTH - "Sandblasted Skin"
11. THROWDOWN - "Becoming"
12. KIUAS - "This Love"
13. THIS IS HELL - "Rise"

Biohazard Posts European Tour Update

Reunited hardcore heroes Biohazard has posted the following European tour report online:

"Last night in Munich, Germany (November 15th) kicked complete ass! By far one of the best shows of the tour, we jammed for over 1 1/2 hours, probably the longest Biohazard show ever! We've changed the set around a little bit and are playing some different songs, which rocks!

"Woke up a few hours ago and found out our trailer was missing off the back of the bus, fucking halarious! This new driver we have out on tour (who's here to help out our normal driver Jerry for the long drives coming up) got a phone call from the German police saying, 'Your trailer fell off the bus and is lying in a ditch on the side of the autobahn!' What a douchebag! Someone could have easily gotten killed! So now we're sitting in some German garage's parking lot trying to figure out how we're going to get our equipment out of our mangled trailer (assuming it's in working condition) and into another trailer or rental van so we can make our way to Bern, Switzerland.

"Fucking hilarious! It still beats flippin' burgers!"

Evan Seinfeld Rejoins Biohazard and The Spyderz

Former Biohazard lead singer and bassist Evan Seinfeld has launched an explosive "outlaw rock" band, The Spyderz. The band’s raucous, SRO performances everywhere from New York to L.A., Vegas to London and Amsterdam—and their scorching signature riffs, marching rhythms, infectious hooks and anthemic vocals—have earned them raving sonic comparisons to Black Sabbath, Stone Temple Pilots, Guns N’ Roses and The Misfits.

Evan’s reinvention as a modern day next-gen rocker with roots in the classic rock he grew up with has already been a bona fide hit on slates with Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Megadeath and Motorhead (who shared the bill at Holland’s big Fields of Rock Festival) and Dave Navarro, Tommy Lee and Everlast (who also played at the grand opening at the Starlight Tattoo shop at Mandalay Bay). The Spyderz made their debut in Long Island last year opening for Buckcherry.

Evan’s connection to Navarro extends to other media as well. The former Jane’s Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist is an exclusive in house director at Teravision, the $20 million company adult film company launched by Evan and Tera. The Navarro directed “Broken” won an AVN (Adult Video News) award for Best High End All Sex Feature.

Along those lines, The Spyderz perfect fuse the realms of rock and raciness. For all the critical raves about the music, Evan is just as excited about The Spyderz’ over the top live presentation which includes hot modern go-go dancers doing their thing, spinning on poles behind him as the band jams. Several times, Tera has made impromptu appearances onstage, dancing in lingerie from her newly launched, insanely hot Mistress Couture line.

“There’s this huge void in the music scene today,” Evan says, “all these boring alternative and emo rock bands with no sexual feelings in their music, just dudes wearing ugly clothes from Hot Topic. Back in the day, Guns N’ Roses and Motley Crue were all about hot chicks, but for some reason now it’s become taboo. All the fun stuff is in the hip-hop world. With The Spyderz, I want to get things back to normal while also finding new ways to express myself musically. We’re all about all the things I love: the sexuality of beautiful women, freedom, motorcycles, choppers, hot rods and muscle cars. This is fun music for guys who like sex and rock and roll. I’ve directed some of Tera’s recent films and I’m excited about shooting a video for The Spyderz now. It’s the the best of both worlds.”

A much needed infusion of musical sexuality is not the only thing Evan’s bringing back in 2008. He’s also excited about celebrating the 20th anniversary of his original band Biohazard, which earned global acclaim, multi-platinum sales and years of world tours--to the tune of 250 concerts annually—opening for superstars (David Bowie, RHCP, KISS, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, etc) with its intense fusion of aggressive hardcore, punk and thrash metal, socio-political commentary and authentic hip-hop textures. Though Biohazard enjoyed a 15-year-run of best selling albums on labels like Roadrunner, Mercury and Warner Bros., this spring’s high profile tour will mark the first dates featuring the Brooklyn-bred band’s original lineup since 1995.

In April, 20 years to the day that Biohazard recorded its first demo, the reunited band launches six sold out arena shows Down Under, opening for Korn in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland, New Zealand. After a show May 17th in Sao Paulo, Brazil, they’re scheduled for a slate of shows in the New York Tri-State area in June, major festivals in Amsterdam and Germany in July and major shows in August and September all across Europe. April 17 - Adelaide, AUS - Entertainment Centre

KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer left the band's European tour last month for "personal and family reasons," according to a statement posted by the band at its official web site. Singer Jonathan Davis said, "We fully support Munky's need to be home right now and because we want to come through for all of our European fans, the tour will go on. It's what Munky wants us to do, too. We promise to give it our all every night!"

In a MySpace bulletin, Munky stated about his decision to leave the tour, "If you want to better understand my departure, then listen to the words in the song 'Watching the Wheels' by John Lennon."

Although his departure is not seen as permanent, Shaffer is the third original member of KORN to exit in the last three years. Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch left in early 2005, while drummer David Silveria went on "temporary hiatus" in late 2006 and has yet to return.

KORN's current touring lineup includes guitarists Shane Gibson and Rob Patterson, and ex-ARMY OF ANYONE drummer Ray Luzier, in addition to remaining original members Davis and bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu.

Biohazard's Original Line-up To Reunite For Shows

The original lineup of the highly influential New York-based group Biohazard, whose intense fusion of the aggression of hardcore, punk and thrash metal with the socio-critical commentary and authenticity of hip-hop earned the band extensive international acclaim will reunite for a series of performances in the summer of 2008 to commemorate the band's 20th anniversary. Bassist/vocalist Evan Seinfeld, guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei, drummer Danny Schuler and guitarist Bobby Hambel have not performed together publicly since 1995, when Hambel left the group at the end of the touring cycle for Biohazard's third album and major-label debut, "State Of The World Address."

Like its predecessor, the landmark "Urban Discipline" (1992), "State Of The World Address" sold more than 1 million copies worldwide and capped the band's evolution from a Brooklyn local favorite into an international success. In recent years, Schuler kept busy by playing drums for the band Bloodclot and occasionally mixing music for other artists, frequently in collaboration with Graziadei. In addition to his success with his new band Suicide City (currently working on the second release), Graziadei also stays active producing and recording bands in his studio; Underground Sound Studios. Seinfeld, meanwhile, remained in the public eye via high-profile appearances on HBO (five seasons on the critically acclaimed prison drama "Oz") and VH1 ("SuperGroup"), as well as a column in Stuff magazine. Additionally, he shot photos for such publications as Playboy, Penthouse and FHM and voiced characters in the video games Manhunt, The Warriors and the forthcoming Grand Theft Auto IV, and as CEO of Teravision, he currently manages the career of his wife, leading adult film star Tera Patrick, whom he has directed and performed with under the name Spyder Jonez. He also recently launched a new band, The Spyderz.

Seinfeld admits that none of these extracurricular activities would have been possible without the success of Biohazard, and looks forward to returning to his roots. "Biohazard was the single most important chapter in our lives," he says. "Our music brought us together and helped us rise up out of the streets of Brooklyn. Our journey has been an amazing one, and for me, it's all about my brothers Billy, Bobby and Danny, and of course the fans, whose undying support has never given up on the hopes of a reunion of the original band. I'm proud to announce that the four of us have decided to bring our special brand of hardcore tribal ceremony better known as a Biohazard live show to select venues across the globe. Here comes the pain, and see you in the pit, motherfuckers!" Adds Hambel, "We owe it to ourselves and to everyone who wants to see the original band reunite. We've lost a lot of great friends and musicians over the years, but we're still here — and it's time to set the record straight!"

In early January, the original Biohazard members met and rehearsed together for the first time in a dozen years. "To be in the same room with old friends again fuckin' rocked," says Graziadei. "We created something unique back in the day and I'm psyched we can all hang together and recapture that vibe. It's like time stood still and we're all 19 again!" "I'm extremely happy that we're all friends again," Schuler adds. "Life is too short, and all the fights, rumors and beefs don't matter anymore. What matters is the four of us being friends and getting up on stage again together. I can't wait to do this."
