"Even though we toured the U.K. hard in 2008 and are still planning to kick some serious ass at the Hellfire Festival next month, when the opportunity came to do this tour with STRATOVARIUS, we just couldn't say no.

"U.K. and Ireland have turned out to be some of the best places on earth for FIREWIND when it comes to our ever growing fanbase and on how dedicated our fans are in these countries. Teaming up with STRATOVARIUS makes this such a killer package. They are a band with quality, catchy melodic songs and a high level of musicianship. They are pioneers in their genre. They are definitely a band that has inspired us and we are honoured to share the same stage with them!!

Firewind Guitarist Checks In

Firewind guitarist Gus G. has posted the following tour report online:

"So, we're back from our UK tour! This was a very smooth nine date run for us and we are very happy with how the whole thing went down!

"To start with, we had two killer bands with us: KIUAS and DEAR SUPERSTAR. All very nice guys and good live bands! Our crew was top notch and amazing people. So if the foundation is right, the rest can be a piece of cake. Right? Well, actually our feelings were mixed up. Stressed and excited. We didn't know what to expect, as this is only the second time we were headlining in the UK and many of these places we visited for the first time. We didn't know if anyone would turn up for these gigs. More...

Century Media Celebrates 20th Anniversary

2008 has become an extremely exciting year in the history of Century Media Records, one of the world's most respected independent homes for heavy music, as the label is celebrating its 20th anniversary!

The company's Anniversary year started off with an extremely successful, first-ever yard sale/party at the Century Media office in Dortmund (Germany) in June, where several hundred guests partied out on exclusive live shows by Angel Dust and Turisas. A video with impressions from the event can be seen at this location. A photo gallery for this event can be viewed here.

To further celebrate this anniversary Century Media Records will release the very special 2CD compilation "Covering 20 Years Of Extremes" on September 15th in Europe and on October 14th in North America. The various artists covers-release includes 32 mostly exclusive recordings and will be available in stores for the price of one CD. Sticking to the "keep it in the family" slogan, CM approached their artists about covering songs from other acts within the label's repertoire and the response from the musicians was overwhelming.

Some choices were obvious and homages to the bands that influenced them, others were inspired picks. This combination ended up leading to a heavily entertaining and truly special final result across all sub-genres of heavy music.

Here is the tracklisting: More...
