Devin Townsend Raises Over £65000 For NHS
Music fans across the world are missing the thrill of going to live concerts, and Devin Townsend is here to help. Devin has been hosting live concerts in his home studio this month, each one raising money for healthcare workers around the world. The latest, which took place on 25th April sold 3420 tickets raising over £65,000 ($81,000) for the NHS in the UK.
For each show Devin has put together an impressive 4-camera rig, controlled using nothing more than an Xbox controller. Watch a recording of the NHS fundraiser show below.
The previous show in aid of Vancouver’s General Hospital sold close to 2000 tickets, and raised nearly $50,000.
The third will be in support of hotspot hospitals in New York City. Shows last around 50 minutes, with different setlists each time. The top donors for each show receive signed merchandise from Omerch, album goodies from InsideOut as well as several high-end products from a number of Devin’s gear companies such as Mooer, Fractal, Toontrack, Dunlop and |Fishman to name a few. All ticket buyers will also receive a (somewhat tidied-up) remixed version of the show’s audio recording.

Devin Townsend Project Posts Video
The Devin Townsend Project has been on the road for the majority of 2017 supporting latest album "Transcendence." Recently Devin was in attendance at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods ceremony in London, where he was given the "Riff Lord" award, which has been previously bestowed upon the likes of Dave Mustaine, Brian May, and Phil Campbell.
In response to being recognized and given such a high honor, Devin offered the following statement: “Hey all! Well heck, I guess I won an award for being a guitar guy...sweet! All those years of social ineptitude has manifested in an ability to play 32nd notes. Take that, dad! ...to celebrate, we are doing a 'lyric video' for a track I had been encouraged to release when the album first came out, but decided to go with another one instead.
"As it turns out, people seem to really like this song, so have at 'er! Here's a kind of rockin', kind of straightforward track from Transcendence called 'Offer Your Light', written essentially about trying to look at the positive amidst the ever increasing sea of neurosis-inducing bullshit the world keeps spewing at us. I'm in the beginning stages of writing new music now, and I hope this finds a home in your listening world for the next 4 minutes or so...best part is; there's no guitar solo!" More...

Check out the tweets below. It's not clear at this point if all four are meant to be from a single project or multiple bands, let alone when they might be recorded and released. More...

Reader Poll: Vote Your Best Metal Album
Update: the staff awards are now here! Check 'em out and see who won at this location.
Our year-end awards for 2016 are nearly here as the staff just wrapped up our internal voting on the best album, performance, DVD, and metal newcomer of the year, along with a vote on our most anticipated album coming in 2017.
While awaiting our official awards ceremony later this week, we want to know: what was YOUR favorite metal album that came out this year? Cast your vote below!
In the poll we've listed out every single album that was nominated by our staff this year, but if you thought some other album should be #1 instead that's perfectly fine - just hit "Other" and type in your nominee.
Wondering why we have so many nominees? Each of our staff members nominates five albums, and we reach our winner by consensus of the album that gets the most votes, resulting in a well-rounded winner who was appreciated by a larger group of metal heads rather than just by people who prefer one sub-genre.
Since you can see who we nominated, we'd also like to know: who do you think was our ultimate winner in all the nominees? More...
