Devin Townsend Project Posts New Music Video

The new video from the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, “Bend It Like Bender,” has been posted online and can be viewed below. The song comes off the group’s new album, “Addicted”, which was met with worldwide critical praise and debuted at #2 on the Billboard Heatseakers chart.

Townsend further states: "The video for 'Bend It Like Bender' was directed by none other than the mighty Konrad Palkewicz, who directed 'Almost Again' by STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, and 'Coast' off of Ki. It's an all animated affair that is not nearly as 'puffy' as the song, it's a mini movie with his incredible skills once again making my music seem much more poignant than it really is. I've seen some clips and it’s crazy good."

Townsend will join genre visionaries Between The Buried and Me, Cynic and Scale The Summit for a massive North American trek which kicks off January 8th. Dates for Europe and Australia are in the works, but you can already look forward to:

13th-15th August 2010 (UK) Catton Hall, Walton-On-Trent, Derbyshire – Bloodstock Open Air

New Song From Devin Towsend Project Posted Online

After releasing “Ki” in May 2009, DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT is preparing the second installment of the series of four albums. Entitled “Addicted,” the album is set for European release on the following dates:

GERMANY, AUSTRIA, SWITZERLAND, ITALY: Friday, November 13, 2009.
UK, BENELUX, FRANCE, GREECE, DENMARK, NORWAY, PORTUGAL, REST OF EUROPE: Monday, November 16, 2009.
SPAIN: Tuesday, November 17, 2009.
FINLAND, SWEDEN, HUNGARY: Wednesday, November 18, 2009

The album’s title track can be heard now on Noisecreep along with the first U.S. interview with Townsend concerning this release.

Townsend states: “Musically, ‘Addicted’ is along the lines of the big, wall of sound hard rock/heavy metal of Ocean Machine and Accelerated Evolution (even Physicist at points). It is a very direct and 'to the point' album with an emphasis on groove and the chorus. In the past, lots of my records end up taking a kind of Pink Floyd-ish route (between song meandering, etc.) ‘Addicted’ is really simple: 10 rocking songs with no bullshit.

“The vocal duties on this record are handled by myself and Anneke van Giersbergen (ex-The Gathering). I wanted to have male and female vocals kind of 'tell the story' so to speak. It's an honor to work with her and she has a lovely, lovely energy. I absolutely love this record and it affects me in a way that I wasn't prepared for. It's a fully rocking album of optimism.”

As previously reported, the multi-instrumentalist has just been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010 as a very special guest appearance. This will be his only UK show in 2010.
