Human Streaming New Single

New Zealand act Human has posted a new single online titled "Teenage Bonesaw Massacre," which can be heard in the player below. The band also previously commented on the track:

"The track 'Teenage Bonesaw Massacre' showcases the band in perfect balance - heavy, fast paced, and also lyrically amusing at the same time (the song itself is written from the perspective of a hunting party in pursuit of a group of teenage campers in the woods) and it captures Human’s ‘death metal for the fun of it’ attitude perfectly." Human Releasing New Single

Human has checked in with the following announcement about celebrating 20 years of being together and releasing a new single:

"2012 is a very important year for Human, the four piece death metal act hailing from the earthquake riddled city of Christchurch, New Zealand. Not only does it mark the band's 20th year of creating psychotic metal in it’s home territory, but it also marks a true return to form... the lunatics are back and it’s about to get messy.

"Human has chosen to release a brand new single worldwide in May 2012. The track 'Teenage Bonesaw Massacre' showcases the band in perfect balance - heavy, fast paced, and also lyrically amusing at the same time (the song itself is written from the perspective of a hunting party in pursuit of a group of teenage campers in the woods) and it captures Human’s ‘death metal for the fun of it’ attitude perfectly.

"And while the group already boasts a 3-way vocal frontline, the idea of adding some guest vocalists to the song became too much of a good idea to resist. Enter the vocal talents of Ross Sewage (from Oakland, California gore masters Impaled) and Adde Mitroulis (from Sweden’s crazy grindcore merchants Birdflesh and General Surgery). Production credits go to Nik ‘Captain Catsquid’ Coulter, who has managed to capture HUMAN’s live insanity so well in the making of the single." More...

Human Recruits New Drummer, Working On Album

New Zealand's Human has checked in with the following update about recruiting a new drummer and working on a new album:

"We have secured a new drummer in the form of Daniel Pawsey, a Christchurch local, and we couldn't be more happy with the way it's been working out. We plan to do our first show with him on May 12th at 'Capital Punishment 3' in Wellington! After that we have our 20th anniversary show happening in our hometown, at our favourite venue; The Dux Live!

"Human had started work on a new studio album with our previous drummer late last year but that all fell through pretty quickly, which was unfortunate for all involved. However, we still have all of the songs we need and we are starting to record again with Daniel on the skins this time. And it'll be the best thing we've ever done. We hope xD Our good friend Nick 'Captain Catsquid' Coulter will be manning the controls for the production of the album!

"Brief enough? Don't forget we still exist on these websites so do check them out and leave your comments - we read them all. Except the shit ones... they get deleted. Metal on!"

Human To Record New Album

Christchurch, New Zealand metallers Human (who were also highlighted in the New Zealand edition of our Unearthing the Metal Underground column) have completed the tracking of a new set of demo songs for their 4th studio album, which they will begin recording in July of this year.

The band randomly selected 20 of it's Facebook fans to preview and rate the songs. Guitarist / vocalist / founding member Scott Spatcher-Harrison says, "We had a slew of songs to pick from for our next release and decided that this time around we would prefer to see what the metal fans really wanted to hear from us. It's all very well and good for us to go and pick the songs we like for an album, however we're not the ones buying it so we wanted to get a look into what the people want from us instead. And if it ends up being full length or an EP at least we'll know we've got a solid recording anyway. I'm looking forward to seeing what reaction the songs will get."

Songs include: "Dawn of The Braindead," "Death Comes Shuffling," "Teenage Bonesaw Massacre," and "Retardo The Avenger," among others.

The band's forthcoming album will be a follow up to the 2009 release "Cadaver Academy."

Unearthing The Metal Underground In New Zealand

Each week in "Unearthing the Metal Underground," we'll be putting a few quality underground bands in the spotlight in an attempt to get the word out about them. This week I am delving into the New Zealand metal scene.

While NZ's main metal export for some time has been either 8 Foot Sativa (melodic death meets groove metal) or Dawn of Azazel (brutal death metal), New Zealand has a number of other gems in the rough with a lot of local support. Even bigger names in the NZ metal community have a harder time translating local fans to recognition overseas because of the distant home base, so this is dedicated to all the southern legions.
