Switchblade has issued the following update about collobarating with Nevermore guitarist Jeff Loomis:
"Sydney's Switchblade are proud to announce that guitar legend Jeff Loomis (Nevermore) will be contributing a guest guitar solo on the band's new album. Currently being mixed in Chicago by producer/engineer Neil Kernon, the track "Reflective Curse" was chosen to be the candidate for Jeff's signature shredding.
Switchblade drummer Mat commented on the collaboration:
"I don't think it's really sunk in yet that it's happened... We started off talking about this years ago with Jeff and after so long you think everyone would be too busy to make it happen, but Neil was into the idea and once we asked Jeff again he was still keen to do it. So we're really thankful that Neil and Jeff both took the time to make it happen. The solo is just incredible... Jeff's playing with Nevermore has been one of our major influences since day 1 so to work on this track together is just crazy. I can't wait for people to hear it!" More...

Cyclop Media has announced that it will be releasing the next album by Sweden's own Switchblade.
Switchblade's fourth album evokes a monolithic sludgy aura with a sound which is shimmering with harsh resonance. The songs' deconstructed momentum brings to life two monstrous tracks characterized by an oppressive and crushing heaviness. The Swedish three-piece executes this feast with a subtle degree of melodic decorum and manages to be graceful in its sloth. To add further bleakness and beauty to the album, there are guest vocals by 'E' of Watain and Matthias Friberg of Logh.
The forty-three-minute-long release will be released by Cyclop Media in North America on May 9th, 2006.
Sweden's Switchblade has officially joined the Deathwish Inc./Icarus roster. Formed in 1998, the group has previously released a 10" Ep, a split (with Cult Of Luna), and two albums with Trust No One Recordings. Switchblade has since recorded a full-length with Carl Wikman (Kelly 8) at EAR studios, which is 47 minutes long, and, according to Deathwish/Icarus, "the definition of epic, a dense storm of ambient soundscapes, driving repetition, and dark instrumental passages." Look for the album to hit streets in early-May. For now, download one of the group's tracks here.
