Mountains Among Us Signs New Record Deal

North Carolina based avant/doom-gaze band Mountains Among Us has inked a deal with Argonauta Records. “Commission the Twelve” will be out in June 2014 in noble DigiSleeve CD limited edition.

Formed in 2007 by Brandon Helms, the band released first full-length "True North" in 2008 followed by the second album "Believer" in 2010.

After working on some experimental EPs from 2011-2012, the band began writing for a first full-length in over four years, described by the band as its "heaviest, most ambitious work to date."

Argonauta Records comments: "Their blackened avant-garde style is constantly morphing into new territory while experimenting in different sounds, which will appeal to fans of Earth, This Will Destroy You, Nadja, and Deafheaven."

Mountains Among Us Issues Studio Update

Mountains Among Us are currently recording their new ep "Redeemer" at The Lodge Studios in Charlotte, NC. During the process they are keeping everybody informed of the progress via a studio blog. Here is the first entry:

"Day 1: Gear: First off we can't begin to tell you how great it is to be back recording new material after a loooooong break, remember 'Believer' was recorded in the fall of 2008 and 'True North' was recorded during late 2007 to mid 2008."

"For 'Redeemer' we are using a completely new amp/effect setup, along with Brandon's brand new Gibson Les Paul Custom 'Custom Shop.' He is also playing through Marshall JCM2000 instead of the Orange amp/head used on the last 3 albums. Pedal effects remain the same Boss DD3, Boss DD7, Boss Super Octave, Boss EQ, Ibanez TS808HW Overdrive (gift), Ernie Ball vp Junior. Boss DC3. Setting are completely different than before, lots of overdrive without the heavy distortion of before. He also likes to use Mogami cables, slightly expensive but well worth the $."

"For Bass Jodi plays a mid 80's Fender Jazz with custom pickups. Pedals are Electro Harmonix delay, chorus, and Tube overdrive through Marshall head and Cabinet. Pretty straightforward setup with lots of bottom end." More...
