Insomnium guitarist Ville Friman has posted the following tour update on the band's travel blog:
"Hi, we're back :)
"We just packed our van and left snowy Joensuu behind us: Germany here we come. We are just cruising to Mikkeli through beautiful wintry scenery to pick Niilo [Sevänen, vocals] with us before heading to Helsinki harbour. Plan is to take ferry to Rostock and hopefully our comrads from the Swallow the Sun will join us for this nice boat trip. We'll arrive to Rostock in the monday evening so we have lots of time to disco, sauna and other stuff. Maybe have nightcap or two. You never know, we might even get drunk. Well, we let the pictures tell you all when we update this blog next time. Anyway, it's nice to see these jolly fellows again as we really had good time in USA. This time we’ll be moving with our van and StS will share bus with Amorphis. Good thing is that we have our own equipments, sound engineer and even light technician with us. So you might even call this progress in some sense. We’ll post short presentations about these guys later when we get proper photo material, heh heh…But more talk about nothing will follow during next three weeks. Hope you enjoy our ride as much we do ;)

Despite suffering the evil eye of American TSA agents, experiencing Dr.Pepper, and playing in a few clubs smaller than your bathroom - Katatonia is coming back to the US with three of the genre's most interesting rising stars. Kicking off September 4, the tour will make nineteen stops around the country. Thats 19 chances to see this lineup before they sneak across the border to Mexico for round two!
Katatonia made their stateside touring debut last fall performing alongside Moonspell and Daylight Dies (North Carolina, US). With Swedish tech-metallers Scar Symmetry in tow this time around, Katatonia will be introducing Finnish neighbors Swallow the Sun and Insomnium to our weak beer beginning in Springfield, Virginia. Touring in support of their first live album, Live Consternation, it will be the first time long-time American fans will be able to experience a full set from this deeply talented group.
From the press release, "Live Consternation, set for American release June 5, is a stunning 5.01 cd/2.0 dvd package which features selections from the band's successful 2006 album The Great Cold Distance and choice cuts from their growing and popular catalog. Kerrang notes, 'submlime melodies and moments of sheer mellow bliss,' while Rocksound adds, 'absolutely astonishing.' "

'The Killjoy' is lifted from Insomnium's new album, Above The Weeping World, available via Candlelight Records on October 17th.
Candlelight Records today confirms October 17 as the American release date for Above The Weeping World, the new album from Finland's Insominium. Now available for viewing, the label has uploaded the band's new video for album track 'Mortal Share'; bring your browser to www.myspace.com/candlelightrecordsusa.
Recording at renowned Fantom and Finnvox Studios, Above The Weeping World contains Insomnium's skilled melodic death metal, stunningly heavier with even further dynamic and melodic variety than that of their previous efforts. "This is by far the best Insomnium album", says vocalist/bassist Niilo Sevänen. "It is the first time we feel we really succeeded in studio. We have nine great tracks on the album. As a band we are very happy with the end result."
