Cardiac Arrest Signs With Razorback

A foreboding covenant dripping with darkness and dread has been sealed that will bring together splatter metal label Razorback Recordings and the punishingly perverse Illinois act Cardiac Arrest.

2014 will now see to the unleashing of the band's fifth and most foul album to date, “And Death Shall Set You Free." Razorback Records comments:

"Formed deep in the black infamy-choked bowels of Chicago in the late ‘90s, Cardiac Arrest has been a known associate of Razorback’s for years and, while the two camps had bonded over their shared obsessions with all things horror and metal, they never worked together – until now!

"Releasing their four previous albums elsewhere, the fearsome foursome of Midwest metal maniacs continue their legacy of death metal brutality with 'And Death Shall Set You Free' and the ten cruel scythe cuts of horror-weltered cacoffiny offered therein, with such aural atrocities as 'There Is No Escape,' 'Bridge Burner,' and 'Rise! Part Man, Part Beast.'

"While the new album will be the catchiest yet, it will still be as unforgivingly heavy as a sledgehammer to the skull. And it is coming for YOU in the late Summer or early Fall of 2014 … You have been warned! ‘Til then, as those abominable gore-adorers who are Cardiac Arrest always proclaim … ROT FOREVER!"

Cardiac Arrest Releasing New Album

Following 2010's "Haven for the Insane," Chicago-based death metallers Cardiac Arrest are set to return this spring with their fourth full album, aptly titled "Vortex of Violence." Guitarist Tom Knizner had this to say about the release and the recent addition of drummer Nick Gallichio:

"Well, the new Cardiac Arrest album, "Vortex of Violence" is about to be unleashed. We have been relatively quiet about this release until now. No need to bore anyone with the details why. 'Vortex of Violence' was completed in early 2011 and we decided to sit on it until we felt the time was right. 2011 brought about a line-up change and we decided to work with our new drummer, Nick Gallichio, rather than push an album or do extensive live stuff. 2011 was a tough but rewarding year for us, and we look forward to 2012. Cardiac Arrest will again perform live a handful of times in 2012, so be sure to catch us when you can. Cheers and beers!"

Guitarist/vocalist Adam Scott added the following: "Alright ladies and gentlemen, it's with pleasure we give you 'Vortex of Violence,' our new album which will once again be released on Ibex Moon Records. Not gonna sit and yammer about how 'this is our greatest album to date' because everyone says that and I'm sure you're sick of hearing that. We hope you enjoy the eleven tracks of heart stopping death rot that ooze from your speakers!! Til next time - let the blood flow freely!"

"Vortex of Violence" will be released on May 22nd via Ibex Moon Records. Cardiac Arrest has made the track "Primitive Lunacy" available for streaming on its ReverbNation page, or check it out below.
Cardiac Arrest has announced the following live dates, including a hometown show with the legendary Autopsy, along with Cianide, Bones and Reign Inferno, next weekend (Saturday, May 5th). The band will have copies of Vortex of Violence on hand at the show.

Cardiac Arrest Comments On Upcoming Album

On June 8th, Chicago metallers Cardiac Arrest will release their Ibex Moon Records debut, "Haven For The Insane." Drummer "Grindhead" Jim Deabenderfer issued the follow statemetn regarding the release of the album:

"We are very proud of this record, and couldn't be happier with the initial press response. The metal community has been very supportive of us in the past, but the reception of HFTI so far has been a welcome surprise. Die hard CA fans should love what we have in store for them with this one, and new listeners are also in for a treat. This isn't a death metal record for the squeamish - it's a statement that aggressive, low end death metal is alive and well. Ibex Moon has put together a phenomenal package for the disc, with a bonus DVD that we think is a step above most of the ones being put out these days. We hope everyone enjoys this release, and we look forward to a future filled with ROT."

Shortly after the release of "Haven For The Insane," Cardiac Arrest will join Ibex Moon Records label mates Gravehill and Hod on the Campaign For Death Metal Purity 2010 tour. Kicking off July 2nd in Portland, OR, this tour was designed for the sole purpose of taking death metal back to its roots. Guitarist Tom Knizner had this to say regarding the upcoming tour: More...

"Campaign For Death Metal Purity" Tour Announced

Cardiac Arrest, Gravehill, and Hod will be touring together as the "Campaign For Death Metal Purity" 2010 tour. Ibex Moon Records issued the following statement about the tour:

"Death Metal has grown weak and soft… with the infiltration of hard-core breakdowns; gravity blasts, emo singing, and MTV saturated 'fashion agenda'…what a sad affair when Death Metal becomes another genre of pop music!" Ibex Moon Records would like to invite the True Death Metal Elite to a series of select dates across the United States of America! A Tour designed for the sole purpose of taking Death Metal back to its roots, a time when metal wasn’t a fashion statement and Death Metal came from some place much more sinister and far more deadly!"

John McEntee, Ibex Moon Records label mastermind and guitarist/vocalist for Incantation, had this to say about the tour: “With all the trends in metal these days and all these fest type tours that mostly only highlight the flavor of the month bands. We wanted to put together a tour with 3 strong Death Metal bands that all in their own right have proven themselves to be true warriors of death! Each band has forged their own legacy by being 100% true to themselves and it shows with their intense live performances. This is the time to take back our underground scene and show your support to some of Death Metal’s top extreme bands. Death Metal is Eternal Under the Ibex Moon." More...

"This is no frills American death metal that leaves one remembering the varied songwriting and bulldozerish grooves, while never forgetting the pain inflicted from the merciless pummel and the tales of horror told through the lyrics. The riffs gouge out the eyes, the searing solos pierce the skin, the rhythmic assault batters the body, and the commanding growl ‘n screech vocals will leave listeners in a perpetual state of shock and awe. The band has established a devout fan base in the Midwest through unforgettable live performances and an impressive catalogue that continues to garner attention in death metal circles.'"
