An audio interview with SEVENDUST, conducted by KISW 99.9 FM at the Hooky Day concert on August 19 at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Washington, can be downloaded in MP3 format at this location.
SEVENDUST are gearing up for the October 11 release of their fifth studio album, "Next", on WineDark Records (distributed by Fontana Distribution, a division of Universal Music and Video Distribution). A video for the album's first single, "Ugly", was shot in Los Angeles, CA on August 28 and 29 with P.R. Brown (BILLY CORGAN, MÖTLEY CRÜE) behind the lens. It's expected to invade TV airwaves by mid-September.
Not one to turn down an invitation to help support troops fighting overseas, SEVENDUST recently participated in an extra special event hosted by WAAF-FM in Boston. On August 26, the station broadcasted live from a brand new home built by Homes For Our Troops (www.homesforourtroops.org) for an Iraqi war veteran who recently returned home and is now confined to a wheelchair. The band leant a hand to the construction of the house throughout the day and entertained the 300-plus volunteers with songs old and new at a party later that evening.
SEVENDUST are currently making plans to launch a U.S. tour starting in January. Stay tuned for details.
A 38-second audio sample of the new SEVENDUST single, entitled "Ugly", has been posted online at this location (Real Media).
"Ugly" is the first single off SEVENDUST's upcoming fifth album, "Next", due on October 11 via 7Bros./WineDark Records. The song, which is scheduled to go for radio adds on August 8, was described by drummer Morgan Rose in a recent MTV.com interview as a mixed bag with a "huge chorus, broken-down verses and really heavy bridges."
"Next" marks the recording debut with the band of new guitarist Sonny Mayo (ex-AMEN/SNOT). Mayo joined SEVENDUST earlier this year as the replacement for Clint Lowery, who left the group mid-tour in December, citing "personal issues." Lowery has since become a full-time member of DARK NEW DAY, the new "supergroup" also featuring Brett Hestla (ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT) on vocals, Will Hunt (ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) on drums, Clint's brother Corey Lowery (ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO) on bass, and Troy McLawhorn (ex-DOUBLE DRIVE) on guitar.
"Next" is the follow-up to "Seasons", which sold a respectable 68,000 copies in its first week of release back in October 2003 to land at position No. 14 on The Billboard 200.
WineDark Records is distributed in the U.S. by Fontana Distribution, a division of Universal Music and Video Distribution (UMVD). SEVENDUST's last four albums were issued through TVT Records.
Sevendust have tapped the track "Ugly" as the first single from their forthcoming new outing "Next". The track is set to impact at radio on August 09th, while "Next" will see a release through 7Bros./Winedark/Universal on October 11th. You can read more on the album here.
SEVENDUST drummer Morgan Rose recently spoke to MTV.com about the recording process for the group's new album, "Next". SEVENDUST's fifth disc, "Next" is the band's first release for the Universal-affiliated WineDark Records after a lengthy stint with TVT Records.
Regarding the songwriting process for the new CD, Rose said, "There was no one really to tell us what to do — and over the past few records, there had been a lot of opinions from a lot of people on a lot of different aspects of the records. We pretty much had the reins to do what we wanted on this record, so we really were able to not worry about any outside influences. I don't want to sound too cliché, but we went back to our roots, because we were able to do some stuff that hadn't been accepted very readily over the last few records.
"Over the last few records, the powers that be were telling us that we didn't need to be doing what we were doing," Rose explained. "We were told, 'You need to be listening to the WHITE STRIPES and the STROKES' — we were told, point blank, to go buy WHITE STRIPES and STROKES records to see what they sound like. I almost fell out of my chair when I heard that. It was like, 'Houston, there's a major f---ing problem here.' "
Rose decribes the new album, due on October 11, as "definitely a hybrid of heavy stuff and melodic stuff, but we don't leave much room for interpretation. It's a straightforward record."

Launch Radio Networks reports: New rock "supergroup" DARK NEW DAY is currently on its first national tour, opening up for CHEVELLE, and guitarist Clint Lowery (ex-SEVENDUST) told Launch that things couldn't be going better for the band. "So far, I mean, the CHEVELLE guys, we have a little bit of history with those guys and me personally, I've known 'em for a long time, and, you know, it's a great way for us to introduce this band," he said. "You know, I think our music goes along with CHEVELLE's style as well, and I think their fans have been really supportive and, you know, our fans from the previous bands have been very cool and have come up to the shows, and I think it's a perfect blend."
DARK NEW DAY's debut album, "Twelve Year Silence", hits record stores on June 14. The first single from the disc is called "Brother".
The band was formed by Lowery and his brother, ex-STEREOMUD bassist Corey Lowery, after years of planning to work together.
The group also includes ex-SKRAPE drummer Will Hunt, former DOUBLEDRIVE axeman Troy McLawhorn and one-time CREED touring bassist Brett Hestla, who sings lead vocals in the new group.
DARK NEW DAY, the new "supergroup" featuring Clint Lowery (ex-SEVENDUST) on guitar, Brett Hestla (ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT) on vocals, Will Hunt (ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) on drums, Clint's brother Corey Lowery (ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO) on bass, and Troy McLawhorn (ex-DOUBLE DRIVE) on guitar, have been tapped to open for CHEVELLE beginning in early April.
As previously reported, DARK NEW DAY have selected "Brother" as the first single off their debut album, "Twelve Year Silence", due this summer via Warner Bros. Records. The single is scheduled to go for radio adds on April 18.
"Twelve Year Silence" was mixed with producer/mixer Ben Grosse, who has previously worked with FILTER, FUEL, SEVENDUST and ALTER BRIDGE. A MySpace.com page containing three advance cuts from the album — "Taking Me Alive", "Lean" and "Heal In Time" — can be found at this location.
Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose sent out the following update in the group's latest newsletter: "It's been a while since I've talked to everyone. Things are incredible for us right now and I hope everything is great with y'all as well. As you know [new guitarist] Sonny [Mayo, ex-Snot/Amen] is in our family and actually has been a brother to us for many years. We've been in Orlando for a little over a month bonding and it's been amazing.
"Sonny has brought so much to the table musically as well as spiritually. I can't describe how happy we all are. We will be hitting the road in early April and can't wait to see all of you. There is so much more to talk about, but we'll leave that to another time. It will be in the near future though, so just be a liiiiitle patient.
"We love you guys and can't tell you how thankful we are to have you as family to all of us. Looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks."
Former Snot/Amen guitarist Sonny Mayo has joined Sevendust. He replaces Clint Lowery, who left at the end of the year to start his own band, Dark New Day.
The new "supergroup" featuring Brett Hestla (ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT) on vocals, Will Hunt (ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) on drums, Clint Lowery (ex-SEVENDUST) on guitar, Clint's brother Corey Lowery (ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO) on bass, and Troy McLawhorn (ex-DOUBLE DRIVE) on guitar has changed its name to DARK NEW DAY from the previously announced DARK BLUE. No reason was given for the name change.
DARK NEW DAY are currently mixing their debut album with producer/mixer Ben Grosse, who has previously worked with FILTER, FUEL, SEVENDUST and ALTER BRIDGE. A June release via Warner Bros. Records is expected.
As previously reported, DARK NEW DAY will make their live debut on Saturday, February 19 at Wills Pub in Orlando, Florida. All proceeds from the gig, which will also feature a one-off reunion by SKRAPE, will go to the family of Sam Verrella, the owner of ARS studio, who he sadly passed away on December 31, leaving his wife and newborn son behind.
As of Tuesday morning, December 14, 2004, guuitarist Clint Lowery has left the current Sevendust tour due to "personal issues," according to an official statement. "Sevendust has made the decision to continue its present tour for its deserving fans and deliver a show one has come to expect from the Sevendust moniker," the statement continues.
Sevendust are continuing to tour behind their acoustic live CD/DVD, "Southside Double-Wide Acoustic Live", available on TVT Records. Recorded and filmed at The Georgia Theater in Athens, GA, the set contains many of the band's greatest hits, including "Bitch", "Too Close To Hate", "Black", "Xmas Day", "Broken Down", and a cover of the NINE INCH NAILS/JOHNNY CASH classic "Hurt". The DVD side contains over two hours of live footage and tons of DVD extras.
My assignment was simple; infiltrate X-Fest for an interview with Bobaflex via backstage passes provided by the tour manager. I was prepared for this assignment, questions written in an organized fashion, digital voice recorder fully charged and tested, along with the digital camera for the after interview photos of the band and their live show. Plans to meet the tour manager at the gate were confirmed days earlier, along with rules on photographing, recording and time limitations.
About 12:35 on Saturday, October second, we parked my truck in the post office parking lot, two blocks from the front gates to Harris Riverfront Park. The park sits on the north end of downtown Huntington, West Virginia, directly on the Ohio River. The second was a cool day, grey and gloomy from the full cloud cover. The air was wet and the ground muddied from showers before sunrise. As long as the rain held, it was excellent weather to be at a crowded all day rock concert, surrounded by hundreds of tattooed people wearing black. More...

The following message was written in the Eighteen Visions online journal:
"So im gonna do a real update for once, maybe ill throw some humor in there. Ok so we did 2 weeks on the Vans Warped Tour. It was great to be on the same tour with such great bands as Bad Religion, Bouncing Souls, Alkaline Trio, Yellowcard and NOFX. We Played on the Smart Punk Stage with great bands and good friends Underoath, From First to Last and Saosin. The days were long and hot, but fun to tan, hang out with beautiful women and pogo mosh to The Casualties. I wish we could have been on more of the tour. Maybe next year we will get the full tour and play a main stage.
In other band related news...We just recently parted ways our drummer Jason Shrout and it was on good terms. We love that fool and hope that one day he will shave his legs. =) We now have Trevor Whorror aka The Dark One. You may also know him from having almost 7,000 friends on myspace.
We were suppose to start the Lost Prophets tour yesterday, but due to trailer problems we were stuck in Arizona for 2 days. We got it fixed and then drove to Houston to get our old trailor that our awesome merch guy Zipper [justin] wrecked. Now we sit here in North Carolina on a day off. We play tomorrow here and this will be our first show of the tour... Sorry to everyone in DC and Philly that we couldn't play. We will be back real soon, I promise. A awesome bonus about our day off here is that we get to see Sevendust tonight. I know to most of you people you think that's a joke, but fuck...they are heavy as fuck! They are true black metal."

The fifth annual edition of the music festival will happen on July 31 at Westmoreland Fairgrounds near Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
DISTURBED singer David Draiman told Launch Radio Networks that the band may book some other shows around the same time as the Town Fair.
"I'm thinking that we're probably going to set up some sort of a run revolving around that date, just to kind of keep ourselves in the game," he said. "You know, so that we're not just going down there and coming back, we'll probably play some shows along the way and along the way back."
An abbreviated version of The Town Fair will hit the road in Boston, Philadelphia and Seattle before coming back to western Pennsylvania, with slightly different lineups on all three shows. The June 12 show at Boston's Suffolk Downs will feature SEVENDUST, THREE DAYS GRACE, and FINCH, while FINGER ELEVEN will join those bands on June 19 at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia.
