Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose has checked in with an update from the Carnival Of Madness Tour. His message reads as follows:
"It has been going great. We are kind of in the front of the middle of the line-up. So we are protected all over with bands before us and after us. It has been very cool to not to have to carry the weight. We have been headlining for so long. You have to carry that weight on the tour when you are doing that. It has been wake up, do some interviews, go to the venue and play for 45 minutes and grape some food out of catering and relax and have a few beers, watch TV and watch some bands. It has been really laid back for us. It has been a lot easier than what we have been used to. We are really close to a few of the bands on the tour. We get to hang out with them daily. It has just been real cool.
"We are doing a few of the new songs. It is kind of a short set. We got eight records. It is not easy to put anything together that is going to make everybody happy. We switch them around every few shows. To try and keep it fresh. We are doing a few new ones and then we will be headlining in October. Then we will be playing a lot of the new record and a lot of the old stuff too."
British heavy metal icons Iron Maiden have been confirmed as the headlining act for next year's edition of Australia's Soundwave festival. Also on the bill will be American thrash metal legends Slayer, shock rocker Rob Zombie, hardcore outfit Terror and former Guns N Roses guitarist Slash amongst others. Iron Maiden will also perform two arena shows in February.

Sevendust has announced a deluxe reissue of the band's debut, titled "Sevendust (Definitive Edition)." Produced by Jay Jay French and Mark Mendoza of Twisted Sister, the original has sold more than 700,000 copies and was certified Gold in 1999. This digitally re-mastered reissue provides some extra muscle to all of the original hits (including “Black” and “Bitch”) and tacks on 5 bonus tracks and a DVD, which features the nationally aired TV special, “Live and Loud,” recorded at The Metro in Chicago, and additional never-before-seen live and behind the scenes footage of the band.
The bonus track “Breathe” was previously only available on the Strangeland film soundtrack, “Terminator (Breathe Remix)” on the MTV Celebrity Death Match soundtrack, and live renditions of “Bitch” and “Prayer” were only released on the Japanese edition of the record. MetalSucks recently interviewed Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery about his return to the band, the chemistry in the studio, working with producer Johnny K, and what the band's new record "Cold Day Memory" means to him. An excerpt follows:
MetalSucks: How is this record different or a step forward or whatever it is? What’s the deal with this record musically speaking?
Clint: I think it has good songs. I think this is a pure Sevendust record. It’s got all the elements: LJ’s vocals, my vocals, Morgan’s vocals, our kind of riffs, when it’s melodic it is really melodic, and when it’s heavy it is really heavy. I think it is one of the stronger “song” records that we have ever put out. All the songs mean something. There are no filler songs. It’s a real potent record, I think. I think it summarizes everything that this band is.
MetalSucks: What’s your goal with this record? Are you guys trying to accomplish anything in terms of touring or musically speaking? What is the big plan?
Clint: We’re just trying to expose more people to the band, and the people who are already exposed, win their love again. We just want to be a successful band; whatever that means to us. Success means surviving, paying our bills, having people come to watch our shows and enjoy it, and giving the fans what they want. It’s a bunch of different things like that. To us we don’t have to sell a billion records, we just want to be able to survive, and we’ve been able to do that.More...

Motley Crue has announced that drummer Tommy Lee has injured one of his hands recently and as such, is currently unable to perform his role as the drummer of the band. A message from the band reads as follows:
"Mötley has always been an interesting animal. The magic is somewhat unstoppable because it is what it is, it’s Mötley. An incongruous mixture to quote my digital dictionary. Even when accidents happen, we pull it together, even if only by pulling a horseshoe outta our Mötley ass.
"So to get to the point, yes Tommy (Lee, drummer) messed up his hand pretty bad, and yes accidents do happen and yes frustration does happen to everybody including Tommy who would rather play drums (even with a damaged hand) than just about anything in the whole world. But following doctor’s orders for a few shows is what we have to do right now ( or cancel shows ). We all wanna say we're sorry Tommy has to sit out a couple shows, But we hope to have him back up on the drums ASAP. Until then, he is at all the shows, jumping around, helping out with vocals and playing piano ever so lightly on 'Home Sweet Home'.
"Now to the hero of the day… Mr. Morgan Rose, the monstrous drummer from SEVENDUST. Morgan flew out with only minutes to go before there were no flights left from Atlanta. He came charging in like a knight in shining armor, drum pedals and sticks in hand, stepping onstage and pretty much nailing the show top to bottom first time out. I think Morgan needs a standing ovation for his dedication to kicking ass and helping not only Mötley Crüe out, but the road crew and everybody else out here whose lives would been effected. Thank you bro.
"As for now, Mötley Crüe is a five-piece band… making history, one injury at a time... hahhaha..."
