"So, I heard that Nashville is supposed to be some sort of country music capital of the world," says Avatar vocalist Johannes Eckerström in the middle of the band's set. Looking around the scene at Marathon Music Works on February 10th, you wouldn't have guessed it. The night before, Hatebreed brought Shadows Fall, Dying Fetus, and The Contortionist with them to play the same venue, but the metal mob was out again in full force to greet the Swedes for their first stop in town on their first tour of the US.
Although Marathon Music Works is not some gigantic stadium, it is anything but a small venue. Stretching about three blocks around the side of the building, waiting in the line of fans to get into the venue was no small test of endurance. Thankfully, two bars and a sound system that blares Megadeth, Van Halen, and Killswitch Engage await indoors to kickstart the weary. Nashville was about to get a multi-national blast of warm loudness to counter the falling temperature. More...

Drummer John Alfredsson adds his own words: "It feels truly amazing to get the opportunity to make our first strike in the US with Sevendust and Lacuna Coil. 2013 will be the year of Avatar in the states and we are excited to bring the madness to you!" More...

The Infinite Staircase has posted a preview clip of the band working on upcoming new material, which is available below. The group also commented on the clip:
"This is another preview of the new demo and forthcoming single/video from The Infinite Staircase called 'Slowly At Least.' Sevendust and Call Me No One Drummer Morgan Rose is playing on, as well as producing the album. Look for the single and video to be released September 2012, followed by a 3 Song EP October 2012. The video was shot & eddited by Ralph Savercool III."
Sevendust and Call Me No One drummer Morgan Rose will join The Infinite Staircase in the studio in the coming weeks to begin work on the band’s sophomore effort.
Brothers Lenny & Jeff Cerzosie have been working pre-production at their home recording facility, Majickly Malicious Studios in Staten Island, New York but will begin tracking the new album with Rose at Architekt Studios in Butler, New Jersey in the coming weeks.
The Infinite Staircase released its debut album, "The Road Less Taken," in March of 2009 before embarking on "The Black Label Bash" tour with Black Label Society, Sevendust, and Dope. The album was mixed by Blues Saraceno (Poison) and featured guest appearances by Saraceno and Earl Slick (David Bowie).
After a year-long hiatus following an ongoing dispute with former drummer Paris Bierk (son of ex-Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach), and a few sporadic and special acoustic performances, this is the first official announcement of the band’s continuity. Sevendust coming to Nashville is a rarity, despite the show with Disturbed and Korn at the beginning of the year. If you’re keen on Sevendust history, you’d know that lead vocalist Lajon Witherspoon is Nashville-born. However, in 2002, his brother Reginald was shot and killed here, and the band had been reluctant to play many shows here throughout the last decade. It seems things are a bit more relaxed in the Sevendust camp these days, and Nashville opened her arms to welcome them back again.
There’s a general rule of thumb on lines for shows. For a major band, the line will double in length every twenty minutes about an hour before the doors open. For The Cannery Ballroom on the 21st, that line stretched out quite a ways as fans lined up to get in. Sevendust had brought tour-mates Adelitas Way, Seven Day Sonnet, and Violence To Vegas. It was to be a packed show in a hotbox of a venue. More...

The organisers of the touring Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar tour have confirmed which bands will be taking part in this year's edition of the trek. Headlining the run will be Orange County, California based Avenged Sevenfold, who will be joined by Three Days Grace, Seether, Bullet For My Valentine and Escape The Fate. There will also be a second stage which will feature Sevendust as it's headlining act, along with Black Tide, Art Of Dying and The Black Cloud Collective.
"When we started hearing from our fans they wanted to see us back on Uproar this year, we thought, last year was a blast so let's do it again. The fans are crazy and the bands kick ass,” says Avenged Sevenfold's frontman M. Shadows. “We're spending the first half of summer playing some big European festivals so we're going to be ready to get back home and play America's top rock festival."
"We're thrilled to have Avenged Sevenfold back as headliners,” adds tour producers John Reese and John Oakes. “Their epic stage show helped elevate Uproar 2010 far beyond the standard outdoor festival. The fans wanted more, and we listened." More...
Following last night's Golden Gods Awards, GWAR fans everywhere rejoiced as the two-time Grammy losing shock rock masters did not lose to Sevendust. Lead Singer Oderus Urungus' promise to have sex with anybody who voted for GWAR (who was up against Rammstein, Sevendust, Iron Maiden, Megadeth and Avenged Sevenfold in the category "best live show") apparently succeeded in garnering the band enough votes for Oderus to immediately begin bragging about:
"Sure Rammstein won, so what? The important thing is that we did not lose to Avenged Sevendust. They didn't win, so we didn't lose."
When questioned further about his apparent complete lack of understanding even what the other bands names were, Oderus completely ignored the question.
"I will now go on an immediate fuck-finding expedition where I will personally reward everyone who voted for us with a violent load. I will go anal in the Aleutians, missionary in Mississippi, plus I will fuck the Presidents dog on the White House lawn. This may take some time as I have to wait for as long as 38 seconds between erections. Because of this, I will be completely ignoring all of my other responsibilities, most notably the Crack-a-Thon, which will be rescheduled some time later this year."
The Crack-a-Thon, GWAR.tv's live, web-streaming fund-raiser (to raise money for drugs), had originally been set for June 3rd, but will instead will moved to sometime in September, the date to be announced soon.
In other GWAR happenings, the band has been included as part Rue Morgue's "Hymns From the House of Horror II," an annual compilation put out by Rue Morgue magazine "featuring the latest earworms to haunt your soul." You can get more info here.
