Pythia has checked in with the following activity update and announcement about working on a new album:
"Hello Pythians, wishing you all a Happy New Year from everyone here in the ‘band-camp’! Never known for sitting still, the boys and girl have been busy little bee’s lately: First of all, a big thank you to everyone at our last few UK shows of the year. All those at the Scala show were treated to a new track; Just a Lie, played live for the first time. In fact, that was probably the third time the guys had played the song all together in the same room! The crowd reaction was great, so I think you may see that one in regular rotation in the Pythia set.
"Hard Rock Hell was a show of many extremes... Extreme cold, extremely late show time, extremely drunk fans, and an extremely late/pissed off lead singer and lead guitarist. But nonetheless, the show was amazing, just a pity we couldn’t all hang around longer. Before we move on there is a big thank you and somewhat of an introduction needed. The more observant ones amongst you probably noticed Ross’ normally reflective head was slightly more hirsute and a little further from the floor at some of our last shows: Ladies and Gentlemen I give you our long suffering stand in- Oz! Oz is Ross’ former bandmate from Head-On, and generally fills in when one of the boys with a guitar has the sniffles.
"On to what’s up and coming (why else would you be reading this!?). The new album is nearly finished the recording stages and everyone in the band is extremely excited. Initial reports are ‘more of the last album, just bigger and more epic in every direction’ says Andy. The release date is set for sometime in the second quarter of the year and you can rest assured that the live performances will come shortly after, as the gigs are what the band is all about after all!
"There will also be a video to compliment the release. No details as yet, but he lot of them are frantically planning, scheming, setting fire to things, and generally making their garb look more imposing for the event. As soon as we know any more details the Pythia News Network will reveal all we know. There was also a new t-shirt released for the last few shows, if you haven’t got one yet, why not?! Featuring the artwork from the fantastic Clive Arrowsmith and Hayley Madden it is sure to be a future collector’s item! More...

Gothic metal act Pythia has issued the following statement about canceling a previously announced live show:
"The Gathering. It is great with regret that Pythia and The Lorien Trust have to announce that the planned performance by the aforementioned artist is canceled without prejudice. Unfortunately, due to an announcement on the band’s official site with slightly incorrect ticket pricing and ensuing reaction from the player base regarding IC/OOC issues of the performance on the Saturday night, and lack of infrastructure allowing the performance to go ahead on the Thursday as suggested by many, the show will not be going ahead.
"An unexpected backlash from established players has made LT and Pythia re-think the proposed show, as many thought this may interrupt the immersion of the IC aspect of the weekend. Not wanting to offend anyone, as Pythia are also well established participants in the RPG scene, it was thought best that the performance would be better suited to a different type of event, and hope that this is not a reflection upon the artists themselves, but merely the prospect of an electrically ‘live’ performance at The Gathering.
"Unfortunately, many people who were coming to the event to enjoy the LARP experience for the first time through being fans of Pythia who were looking forward to becoming regular members have been left feeling a little amiss. Should these players still attend the event, we suggest that it is best that all existing players extend them the same welcome as any new player should. More...

Female fronted gothic metallers Pythia have issued the following end-of-year recap and information about their upcoming activity:
"Happy Christmas One and All!! Just thought we’d drop you all a line or two to sum up the year.... And what a year it’s been!! Firstly, thank you all for your support and help these last 12 months, you have all been brilliant. Without your enthusiasm and energy we wouldn’t be where we are right now. Special mentions for Mr. Livermore, lil’ Emily, Bev and Frank, George, Laura and Lorna and of course Are for going above and beyond the call of duty!
"Been fun through this year, but ultimately everything we were doing was running up to the album release, so 2010 will have a rolling start. We got plenty planned with gigs, tours, festivals, writing the new album and another single possibly, hitting you all in the first part of the year. The new merch is coming along too, so keep your eyes on the site and the forum. Y’all will be the first to know! Also, keep your eyes peeled for magazine coverage coming up, after the extremely successful day with Clive Arrowsmith, and seeing the results, I’m sure the mags will be fighting over us for an exclusive! That, bolstered with another new shoot completed with Hayley Madden (who did all our album artwork, for those who don’t know), hopefully the buzz around Pythia will just grow in the New Year.
"As I mentioned, we are booking up gigs all over until we can plan the tour to support the album. They’re going to be all over the place in the UK, so watch out for updates. Anyways, long newsletters just get boring, and I have beer to drink, a mountain of chocolate to get through and an unfortunate turkey to stuff! Hope you all have a really good day at Christmas, and see in the New Year in which ever way you see fit!!!! ROCK ON!!"
