Quartered, Bison B.C, 3IOB Nominated For Award

Vancouver metal act Quartered has announced that it has been nominated in the "Best Metal Band" category at this year's first annual Urban Culture Conference. The new awards event has categories based in music, blogs, arts, sports, food, beer, radio and nightlife (amongst many others) which all spotlight distinct Vancouver talent.

Artep Announces Album Release Date

Vancouver's Artep will be releasing their album, "Thy Will Be Done On Earth As Is Done In Hell," on May 22nd via Bleak Art Records. The album will be available for purchase on the Bleak Art records website, the band website, and many distributors world wide.

Artep to Film Upcoming Show for DVD

Vancouver's Artep will have professionals filming and recording the show at the Rickshaw Theater on January 23rd after the premiere of the black metal documentary "Until the Light Takes Us." The movie will start at 8:30 and Artep will be on immediately after, followed by headliners Tyrants Blood.

The show will to be released on a DVD together with Artep's new music video. The DVD, entitled "Thy Will Be Done In Vancouver As Is Done In Hell," will get world wide distribution.

Unearthing the Metal Underground in Vancouver

Each week in "Unearthing the Metal Underground," we'll be putting a few quality underground bands in the spotlight in an attempt to get the word out about them. This week, I am exploring the metal scene in Vancouver, Canada.

First, I give you one of the best live bands in Vancouver: Gross Misconduct. As huge fans of Chuck Shuldiner (R.I.P.), Gross Misconduct picks up where Death left off. The band also draws influences from Iron Maiden, Slayer and good old Metallica. The death/thrash-metal four-piece have opened up for big names such as The Haunted and Amon Amarth. Gross Misconduct maintains the high quality metal that epitomized Death.
