Swedish outfit Wolf will release "Devil Seed" on August 25th in Europe and on September 2nd in North America via Century Media Records.
The band has now posted a documentary clip covering the recording of the album, which can be seen below. Wolf also comments:
"People have asked us about the making of the 'Devil Seed' album. Luckily our guitar player Simon Johansson took a camera to the studio and recorded a studio diary so people can see what's going on behind the scenes.
"Citizens of Europe, mark August 25th in your calendars, citizens of North America, mark September 2nd in your calendars because that´s the day this baby is born! Meanwhile we bring you the "Making of 'Devil Seed' - The Studio Diary. What happens when a studio runs out of coffee? Did they really use a xylophone on one of the tracks? What's more useful, a roll of toilet paper or a bass player? The answers to these questions dwell within this epic mini documentary." More...
Sweden's Wolf will return with their seventh studio album entitled "Devil Seed." The album will be released on August 25th in Europe and on September 2nd in North America via Century Media Records.
For the new release, Wolf has teamed up with Jens Bogren (Kreator, Paradise Lost, Opeth) over at Fascination Street Studios and have delivered not only a heavy sounding release but also one chock full of clarity and complexity. The cover artwork was created once again by designer Thomas Holm (Mercyful Fate, King Diamond) and can be seen below.
Guitarist Simon Johansson (guitars) commented on the artwork:"Wolf is back and once again we have worked with the amazing Thomas Holm (Mercyful Fate/King Diamond) for the album art. Thomas has a way of catching the feeling of an album and to put colors to our music. This time Niklas Stålvind also contributed to some drawings found in the booklet and the collaboration between the two of them turned out great. Devil Seed starts as an embryo and when you least aspect it you find yourself dancing with the Devil."
The track list for "Devil Seed" is:
1. Overture in C Shark
2. Shark Attack
3. Skeleton Woman
4. Surgeons Of Lobotomy
5. My Demon
6. I Am Pain
7. Back From The Grave
8. The Dark Passenger
9. River Everlost

Carrying the energy over from ProgPower XIV’s Friday show to Saturday’s show was like a Herculean trial for me, running on a combined total of 6 hours sleep from the last two days. In the quiet of dawn, nobody from ProgPower: Hardcore, the unofficial fitness group, was awake enough to run or work out, but not for lack of effort -- They had put in a good run and hot yoga session earlier in the week. (Only at ProgPower, folks.) Fortunately, each of the seven bands on the second day’s roster brought its game face and gave me and the other concert-goers what we needed to raise our bodies, put our hands in the air, bang our heads, jump (if you really enjoyed Sabaton), and fall in love all over again.
After descending upon Einstein Bagel Co at the end of Peachtree St for breakfast with my group of fellow black-shirted friends, which brought a few funny reactions from the locals, we headed down to The Loft next to Center Stage to see Wolverine’s exclusive all-acoustic set for Gold Badge holders and sponsors only. Having rehearsed well in advance, Wolverine was a well-oiled machine, although the same could not be said for the guitar cables that seemed to be shorting out on them by the dozen. Nevertheless, the show was to be unforgettable. Drawing heavily from “Communication Lost,” perhaps the easiest Wolverine album to translate to an acoustic setting, the show took the form of a sort of “Storytellers” gig.
The typical routine they followed went something like this: Vocalist Stefan Zell or bassist Thomas Jansson would give a background and context to a song, they would play it through, Jansson or keyboardist Per Henriksson would take a passionate but subdued solo, Zell would light up the air with his voice, and the crowd would weep. It’s true -- one attendee brought a box of tissues with her, which the band autographed after the performance, for members of the audience that couldn’t help but resonate with the song. The whole performance gave the impression of a slow burn -- warm and electrifying. A special set, indeed. More...
In its 14th year for 2013, the ProgPower USA Festival is one of the longest-running US festivals, and the longest-running US multi-day festival to feature bands from outside the US.
This year, it has the special distinction of being the US debut show for five bands. Totaling more than a hundred and twenty band performances in its time, it has developed a reputation as a tastemakers’ festival, heightening awareness within the US of foreign bands.
It can be a daunting festival, price- and endurance-wise, but it’s one that should be considered if the genres it derives its name from at all turn your head. Here’s what you can expect from this year’s celebration of the fast and the nerdy down at Center Stage in Atlanta, Georgia, starting on September 4th. More...

Niklas Stålvind (vocals and guitars) comments: "We have never had so much fun making a video as we had on this one. Smashing a car into smithereens is something we always wanted to do without cleaning up after us or get in trouble with the police. It was the best exercise/therapy you could ever wish for. I felt like I was 10 kilos lighter in both body and spirit afterwards. We had to work hard to demolish it good. A Volvo is made in Sweden and hard to tear apart - just like this Heavy Metal band. This one is for all the skull crushing metal heads out there - We salute you!" More...

As the tributes from fans, friends and critics alike pour in, more contemporaries of Ronnie James Dio have spoken about the man, his music and his legacy. You can read some more tributes below.
Exodus' Gary Holt - "What more can be said about Ronnie that hasn't been said by so many others. He was the kindest, most humble metal god I've ever had the pleasure and honor of touring with. I first met him at Foundations forum, about two to three weeks before our tour with them during the Dehumanizer tour, for about ten minutes while he waited outside for his cab. I introduced myself, said it was an all time honor to meet and tour with him and said see you soon. Fast forward to the first day of the tour, and he sees me and says "How are you doing Gary?". I would not have been offended if he never knew my name the whole tour, but he remembered it from a ten minute chat around three weeks earlier. We had many golden moments hanging out with him, while he allowed me to relentlessly badger him for stories about Ritchie Blackmore and the time spent singing for my favorite band, Rainbow. R.I.P., your impact on me won't ever be forgotten." More...
