UMC - promoters for the World's Largest Cruise Festival, 70,000 Tons of Metal - announced via video clip (shown below) that Norwegian viking metal act Einherjer is the 30th act to be added to the 2015 roster, which marks the halfway point for band announcements. The band just released a new digital and 7" vinyl single entitled "Nidstong" earlier this week via Indie Recordings and the music video for the song can be viewed over at this location.
70,000 Tons of Metal casts off on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with a stop at Ocho Rios, Jamaica, returning on Tuesday, January 26, 2015 aboard a new ship, Liberty of the Seas (via Royal Caribbean), which will accommodate four stages. The All-Star Jam band will be back this coming January, which features members from the various acts aboard performing cover tunes live. There will also be two hot tubs on the pool deck stage.

Norwegian viking metal act Einherjer released a new music video for the track "Nidstong." The song was issued as a digital single yesterday and will be available as a 7" vinyl on August 25th via Indie Recordings with the b-side "Etched."

The first round of band confirmations have been made for Maryland Deathfest 2015. The thirteenth edition of the festival will take place in Baltimore, Maryland from May 21-24, 2015.

Dates that each band performs and running times will not be set until closer to the festival dates.
The organizers are satisfied with the venue situation this year and have decided to use the same set up next year. This means that Maryland Deathfest 2015 will use the Edison Lot (located at 545 N. High St) for the two main stages, Rams Head (located at 20 Market Place) will be used each night and will host death/black metal bands, and Soundstage (located at 124 Market Pl) will be used each day/night for grind/hardcore/punk bands. On Thursday, only Rams Head will be used.
The viking metal pioneers in Einherjer are due to release a brand new 7" on the 25th of August, and on digital formats August 4th.
"Nidstong" is limited to 500 copies worldwide, and the single will be a first taste of a forthcoming album, which is to be released later this Autumn.
The band's previous release “Norrøn” made the official Norwegian album charts, and this summer the group has the pleasure of performing at festivals like Summer Breeze (15th August) and RockHarzt Open Air (11th August) in Germany. More...
The Heathen Crusade Metalfest 4, which was scheduled for Saturday, March 9th at Station 4 in St. Paul, MN has been canceled.
The following statement was issued by the organizers of the fest:
Do to unforeseen issues on both sides, the Heathen Crusade Metalfest is canceled. We are extremely sorry for any in convinces this may have caused. For those who have purchased tickets, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or log into the vitaltickets.com website and cancel your order. We wish you all the best and all the bands that were supposed to be on the bill. For those who already bought tickets, I will be sending out CDs that we have received from labels and bands personally. Again if you have any questions for me personally you may email me at: email@example.com.
The 2013 edition fo the Viking/Folk/Pagan metal festival was announced almost a year ago to feature bands including EINHERJER (Norway), VANIR (Denmark), ASHAENA (Romania), TRELLEBORG (RUSSIA), VESPERIA (formerly BOLEROS) (Canada), MINOS (U.S.) among others, some of whom had canceled and been replaced in the months leading up to the festival date.
Norway's Einherjer has checked in with the following announcement about canceling upcoming U.S. appearances:
"To our American fans: we are deeply sorry to inform you that due to extremely unreliable business partners and circumstances beyond our control, Einherjer will have to cancel our planned show at Heathen Crusade.
"Unfortunately, this will also affect our planned appearance at SXSW in Texas. Alas, it will be cancelled as well. We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. We will come back stronger!"

The organizers of Heathen Crusade have announced three more acts for the event, which will take place on March 9th, 2013 at Station 4 in St Paul, MN. Newly confirmed acts include Canadian acoustic folk metal act SIG:AR:TYR (making a rare live appearance), Celtic thrashers Battlesoul (Canada) and Winterhymn (U.S).
This newly announced trio of bands will join Norwegian Viking Gods Einherjer (making its first appearance since 2001), Vanir (Denmark), Ashaena (Romania), Trelleborg (Russia), Hammer Horde (U.S.), Vesperia (formerly Bolero, Canada), and Minos (U.S.) for the United States' premier viking/folk/pagan metal festival.
This is the fourth installment of the Heathen Crusade Festival. Past years events have seen the likes of Primordial, Moonsorrow, Thyrfing, Bal-Sagoth, Vreid, Metsatoll, Skyforger, Rudra, Meal Mordha, Obtest and Manegarm all making their US debuts. Indie Recordings is now streaming the new track "Varden Brenne" from Norwegian Viking Metal Act Einherjer. The track is the first single from the band's upcoming LP "Norrøn," out on Indie Recordings on September 9, 2011 (Europe) and September 13, 2011 (North America).

The organisers of the Czech Republic's Brutal Assault festival has announced a further three confirmations for this year's event. Newly added to the bill are Scottish hardcore punk/crossover thrash legends The Exploited, Bay Area thrash veterans Forbidden and American mathcore outfit The Dillinger Escape Plan. The festival will take place from August 11th-13th in Josefov, Czech Republic.

Indie Recordings has issued the following announcement about Einherjer, Insense, and Obliteration performing at the label night of the Inferno Festival:
"Following up on a great tradition, Indie Recordings invites you to an evening of metal at our label night at Inferno Festival. It all takes place April 20th, the club-day of the Inferno Festival. During it's three years existence The Indie Recordings label night has grown to be one of the highlights during the Inferno Festival,selling out every year. 2011 will be no exception as we give you the opportunity to experience our three latest signings live: EINHERJER, INSENSE, and OBLITERATION.
"Hope to see you all there. It will be yet another classic evening! Please note that Einherjer will be performing a showcase set here. The first full-blown Einherjer concert in Norway will be at Karmøygeddon Metal Festival May 7th."
Viking metal act Einherjer has signed to Indie Recordings for the release of the band's new album, which is due out in the spring of 2011. Einherjer disbanded in 2004 until 2008 when the band announced a return to the live scene, and in 2009 Einherjer played the Wacken, Ragnarock, Kaltenbach and some selected dates on the Paganfest '09 tour. The band is currently finishing up a 5th studio album.
Einherjer commented on the signing: "Finally, after a long wait, we’re very proud to announce that we have chosen the most dedicated, enthusiastic and hard working label to release our next albums…Indie Recordings! To work with this level of professionalism is something we’ve always emphasized, and Indie Recordings has shown through the years that they can deliver. This will be the start of a new chapter for us and we look into the future with great expectations and a great deal of excitement. We do it our way….we always have and always will!"
Norwegian metallers Einherjer have issued the following update about recording a new album:
"2009 has been a good year for Einherjer. We did some great festivals with Wacken Open Air as the definitive highlight. We got great response and we had a great time. We also spent most of 2009 to write new material and now it's time to bring to the production to the next phase. Einherjer will enter Studio Borealis in January to start recording the new, yet untitled, album. This will be our first album in 7 years. The last Einherjer album was Blot, released by Tabu Recordings in 2003."
Finnish folk metallers Korpiklaani have issued the following statement about the upcoming European Paganfest tour:
"We are all packed now, doing the last checks before boarding and heading Germany for the first show of this year's Paganfest. This big European tour will start off tomorrow in München. We will tour in many European countries and hope to see many of our old friends there, and meet new ones!
"We are asked to headline this Paganfest Tour together with Die Apokalyptischen Reiter. Of course more bands take part in this great tour: Unleashed, Alestorm, Ex Deo and our old Paganfest friends Swashbuckle. During some evenings we will have special guests, like our fellow countrymen Moonsorrow and Norway’s Einherjer.

Romania's forthcoming metal festival, Rock City Open Air, appears to have either cancelled or postponed. A message from black metal legends Mayhem reads as follows:
"Unfortunately, Mayhem will not perform in Romania next week as the whole festival has been canceled (or apparently postponed). We are deeply sorry for the fans who wanted to see us performing there. This is of course totally out of our control.
"A statement regarding the reason of the cancellation should be posted on the festival's MySpace page soon."
This news come after the recent news that Immortal, Blood Red Throne, Macbeth and Trail Of Tears have all pulled out of the event. The festival was scheduled to be held from August 20-23rd in Fetesti, Romania.
EX DEO, the new band led by KATAKLYSM frontman Maurizio Iacono, will make their live debut this September/October on the special edition trek of Europe’s biggest pagan/folk-metal tour, PaganFest.
Co-headlining throughout will be Finland’s KORPIKLAANI and Germany’s DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER. Support will come from Sweden’s UNLEASHED, United Kingdom’s ALESTORM, EX DEO and Canada’s BLACKGUARD.
Special appearances will be made by Finland’s MOONSORROW and Norway’s Einherjer on select dates (marked "Extended Show" below).

Romanian rock festival Rock City Open Air will feature two former Iron Maiden vocalists this year in the form of Paul Di'Anno and Blaze Bayley. The festival will be held from August 20th - 23rd in the city of Fetesti.

Italian gothic metal act Lacuna Coil are the latest band to be confirmed for Germany's Wacken Open Air festival. The festival is sold out and will take place between July 30th- August 1st.
