Australian metallers Ouroboros (formerly known as Dred) have issued the following update about recording a new album:
"Ouroboros are currently in the process of recording their debut full length album. All tracks have been written and finalized. The drums are near completion and the recording of the guitars will commence towards the end of the month. The upcoming album is shaping up to be along similar lines as the EP, but with a few added elements and more diversity in terms of the arrangements and the complexity of the riffs. We are very happy with the way the album is turning out and we look forward to sharing it with all our fans."
Sydney technical death metal band Dred has announced that they've changed their name and will now be known as Ouroboros. Here's what the band had to say about the name change:
"After much thought and preparation we have decided to change the band name. It was a unanimous decision that we needed a more powerful and meaningful title that more suitably reflects what we are about and better fits our musical and lyrical themes.
"From here on forward DRED will be known as OUROBOROS.
"Our new MySpace page is already up and running and a new merch line is due shortly and the designs can already be viewed on this new page - www.myspace.com/ouroborosmetal
"The current DRED MySpace will remain active for quite some time to come in order to help inform the fans of the name change. Our upcoming full length will be released under our new name.
"Let us stress that despite the name change, the bands line up, the music and our goals remain the same."
The band's next gig will be on the Sydney leg of the "Unleashing The Extreme" tour, featuring Psycroptic, The Amenta and Ruins. The gig takes place at The Manning Bar on June 20th, 2009.
