Charred Walls Of The Damned drummer Richard Christy has posted the following recording update online:
"Last week I recorded drum tracks for 12 new songs for the second Charred Walls Of The Damned album!
"I flew down to Miami, Florida the day after Christmas to start tracking drums at the legendary studio The Hit Factory Criteria Studios.
"The drum room we recorded in was insane; it was the size of a school gymnasium and my drums sounded massive in there!
"We got a very natural drum sound, thanks to our awesome engineer, Mark Lewis, and the amazing drum room. Everything went really smooth and we finished up in a very quick two and a half days, and I'm super-excited for everyone to hear the monster drum sound we got for these awesome songs.
"Seeing gold albums hanging on the walls from bands like The Eagles and Black Sabbath was so inspiring, too. The historic music that's been created at that studio is just unreal and it was an honor to record the drums for the second Charred Walls Of The Damned album there.
"We'll be finishing up the rest of the album in January and February at Audiohammer Studios in Orlando and we're hoping to have the album out sometime this summer.
"The songs are super-heavy, brutal, and very melodic and catchy, like the first album,
"I can't wait for people to hear our new material!"

The biggest oddity of Charred Walls of the Damned’s first tour is they are playing smaller venues – bars and small theaters and the like. With the amount of experience and reputation this supergroup has (although admittedly half of the studio members aren’t on the road), it seems like they should be playing arenas and ampitheaters, or at least opening for big name headliners.
But as it stands, Charred Walls of the Damned kicked off their first ever tour in Chicago at the Empty Bottle. The Empty Bottle is the type of old school dive where the air feels sticky, not to mention the restroom floors. Thus, it is perfect for an old school traditional metal show. And suffice it to say there wasn’t anyone in the crowd that became a metal fan after hearing “Nothing Else Matters” in high school, and nobody was rocking the latest Hot Topic sampler on the way to the show either. The folks here were all metal-for-life types, even the young ones. More...

Richard Christy's Charred Walls Of The Damned is hitting the road in support of the band's debut album this July. The group will be touring from Chicago, through Canada and up to Worcester, MA for a show with Dream Theater. The tour will also feature comedian Don Jamieson from VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show."
Richard Christy commented on the tour: "I am soooooooooooooo pumped to get out on the road and blast some heavy metal with Charred Walls of the Damned this summer! Tim 'Ripper' Owens and I are beyond excited about this tour! The response to our debut album has been so amazing and I think people are going to be blown away when they hear these songs live! I'm sweating my buns off in the rehearsal room every day getting tighter and tighter on our songs so that we will be absolutely blistering when we get out on the road in July! Steve DiGiorgio and Jason Suecof have prior commitments and won't be able to join us on this tour but we have the incredible musicians John Comprix (Beyond Fear, Ringworm) on guitar, Dennis Hayes (Beyond Fear, ex-Iced Earth) on bass, and Matt Sorg (Ringworm) on guitar joining Charred Walls of the Damned for this tour!
"We'll be playing our debut album in full and we'll have plenty more surprises as well! Joining us as host of the tour and also doing stand up at each show will be the hilarious comedian and carrier of the heavy metal torch, Don Jamieson from VH1's That Metal Show! I've known Don for many years and I'm so psyched to have him as part of this tour! Coming soon we'll have more big announcements about the tour including opening bands in each market and other cool surprises! So get ready to raise your fists and bang your heads with Charred Walls of the Damned this summer! See you on tour!"
Tim "Ripper" Owens adds: "Man I really look forward to this short run of shows, just going out with some friends and playing in front of some of the best fans around. And watching Don every night just tops it off!!! See you all on the road!" More...

Charred Walls Of The Damned is about to release their debut album on Metal Blade Records and have completed their first music video for the single, "Ghost Town." The video can be seen below. All of the lyrics on the album were written by Richard Christy and "Ghost Town" in particular is a dark description of a near abandoned and "creepy" town that Richard grew up near in northeastern Oklahoma.
Richard comments further on the video, "I'm really psyched for everyone to see the Ghost Town video! The director Mike Schiff worked so hard filming and editing the video and it definitely shows! The video looks amazing and I'm really proud to present it to the fans! It's a perfect companion piece to a song that I'm also extremely proud of!"

Metal Blade Records announced the signing of CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED today, and issue the following statement on their website:
"Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the signing of Richard Christy's new project, CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED! This newly formed outfit features some of the most talented musicians in metal. Their collective experience is colossal and their musical pedigrees speak louder than any verbal or written praise.
Founder Richard Christy comments: "To be a part of the Metal Blade family is such an honor. I've been a fan of the label since I was an eleven year old kid ordering Metal Massacre cassettes through the mail. It's so amazing to be label mates with some of my all time favorite metal bands like AMON AMARTH, KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE, CANNIBAL CORPSE and LIZZY BORDEN, just to name a few! Brian Slagel is a true metal legend and I'm honored to be a part of his label. I'm beyond excited to get back into the studio and make some crushing Heavy Metal with my friends!"
Metal Blade Records founder Brian Slagel adds: "We are very happy to welcome Richard Christy and his band Charred Walls of the Damned to the Metal Blade Family. In addition to his duties on the Howard Stern show, Richard has had a great career in metal. He has put together a really great new band with some of metal's most talented artists and we can't wait to have everyone hear it."
In the Spring of 2009, Richard Christy, former drummer for Death and Iced Earth, finished writing the music for a new project. The music for album began to take shape roughly two years ago, after several years of Richard being on a musical hiatus. And though Richard is mostly known for his drumming prowess, he has also actively played guitar since 1992. The project would come to be named CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED.
Upon completing the music for the album in 2009, Richard began to put together his dream band of musicians whom he considers to be some of the best in the world. Included in this musical collective is famed producer Jason Suecof. Suecof has produced and/or mixed some of the most prominent albums from metal's leading bands, including: Trivium, All That Remains, Bury Your Dead, August Burns Red, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, Daath, Chimaira, DevilDriver, God Forbid and many, many more. Richard and Jason have been friends for over ten years and wrote music together for years while Richard resided in Florida. On vocals for Charred Walls of the Damned will be none other than legendary metal vocalist, Tim "Ripper" Owens. Richard and Tim played together in Iced Earth from 2003 to 2004. Tim "Ripper" Owens' first and most well known gig was with metal legends, Judas Priest. He currently performs with Beyond Fear and Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force. On bass guitar for CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED will be one of metal's most heralded bassists, Steve Digiorgio. Richard and Steve played together in the bands Control Denied and Iced Earth. DiGiorgio has also performed with Death, Autopsy, Control Denied, Testament, Vintersorg, Iced Earth, and is a founding member of technical thrash pioneers, Sadus. He is widely renowned for his technical skills, and is one of the very few bass players in the metal scene who plays fretless bass.
Look for a full length album by CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED this fall, produced by Jason Suecof himself at his Orlando, FL based studio, Audiohammer Studios. More details, a myspace page, and music will be coming soon, so stay tuned.
