Converge will be appearing on the "H.E.L.L." compilation, and a new trailer for the release has now been posted online. Check out the clip below. The following statement was also released about the project:
"Happy Holidays! We’re very excited to finally be able to announce this project in its entirety. In 2007, Gordon Riker & Kelly Wallace both tragically passed away in bike accidents in Boston, MA. Shortly after, friends of their’s started a non-profit organization titled H.E.L.L. (Helping Everyone Live Longer).
"H.E.L.L. is a DIY group that primarily operates in Boston’s punk and hardcore scene that both Gordon and Kelly were heavily involved in. H.E.L.L.’s main goal is to give out free helmets from donations while raising bike safety awareness. You can learn more about H.E.L.L. at helpingeveryonelivelonger.org
"For the last year, we’ve been working on a compilation to help raise money and awareness for H.E.L.L. This compilation features songs and artwork from Gordon and Kelly’s friends, family, and favorite bands, as well as a few others who have lost someone close to them. Contributions are not just primarily from the Greater Boston area, but also Florida, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, New York, Vermont, Pennsylvania, and Qu?bec. All proceeds from this compilation will go directly to helping keep H.E.L.L. alive.
"The compilation includes NEW, EXCLUSIVE, and UNRELEASED songs from 108, Alanna (ex-Medicated Kisses), Jason Anderson, Attica! Attica (ex-Marathon/De La Hoya), Battle!, The Faux, The First Annual (ex-Guns Up!), Fly Upright Kite, Form & File, Foxfires (ex-Last Lights/Four Year Strong), Give and Take (ex-Battle!), Hunger (ex-Unrestrained/Crucial Times), Late Nite Wars, Life & Limb (ex-Maintain), Brian Marquis (ex-Therefore I Am), Our Lives (members of Vanna/Always & Forever), Powerwolves, Roadrage, Oscar Albis Rodriguez (of Ghost Robot Ninja Bear/ex-Nakatomi Plaza), Peter Long, Ten Thirty Nine, Undark and the Radium Girls, Vanna, Wrong Body (ex-A Loss for Words), yellowbirddd (ex-Fly Upright Kite), and rare songs from Converge, Paint it Black, Four Year Strong, and Freezepop." Paint It Black And Trash Talk are heading overseas to being thieir European tour. Here is the word directly from PIB:
"This one goes out to all our friends across the Atlantic. In two short days we'll be on a plane crossing the ocean with our friends Trash Talk, to launch a 16-day assault on the shores of Europe. We're all really fucking excited about this tour, not only because it's going to be amazing playing with Trash Talk every night, but because its the first time that either band has been to Europe since the release of our new albums on Reflections Records. Traveling far from home, seeing new things, and meeting new people is one of the most exciting privileges of being in a band. We're grateful for all the support that "New Lexicon" has received in Europe since its release in February, and we can't wait to play! We'll see you very soon in one of these cities:

Some bands have dropped off this year's This Is Hardcore Fest and the organizers have posted a message to explain why.
"108- These guys are great. Right now they have things to take care and are taking the remainder of the spring/summer off to handle business. Expect them back at full speed this fall/winter."
"SHATTERED REALM – Another band we were really looking forward to, but due to lineup changes will not be playing the fest. They will however be playing Pressure Fest in Germany with Original Singer Chris (of Suffer The Living)."
"STEEL NATION- With a split 7" in the studio their singer flakes out and leaves them stranded. Pauly Edge of Meltdown came to the rescue but ultimately they are without a singer right now. Hopefully they will have someone by August and will be playing the PRESHOW!!"
Some of the bands that are currently confirmed for the festival's lineup include:
ALPHA & OMEGA
PAINT IT BLACK
POVERTY BAY SAINTS
Although location information was not readily available, the festival is presumably taking place later this summer in Philadelphia, PA, as in past years. More details will be posted as they are made available.

Paint It Black has finished up their new full-length. The effort was co-produced by J. Robbins and Oktopus (of Dalek) and will hit stores in early-2008 via Jade Tree Records. Frontman Dan Yemin recently commented on the production process:
"We were excited that J. and Alap/Oktopus were willing to co-produce this album. It gave us a couple of pretty amazing opportunities: first of all, we got to have multiple perspectives on the songs and the recording, which just sort of expanded the possibilities. We were able to have the confidence that comes with working with a trusted and familiar producer, but also the "wild card" element that you get when working with someone new, especially someone from outside the community of engineers and producers that typically work with punk and hardcore bands."
"I wanted to work [Oktopus] because Dalek's recordings sound totally insane, and I wanted to bring some of that to Paint It Black. Also, it's clear from their recordings that he understands how to really blow out the low end. I'm into that. Hardcore albums usually are over-focused on guitar and treat the bass as an afterthought. It's time to put that style to rest."
"I think there were new influences from both producers: Oktopus brought a density and texture to the recording that we never would have found without him, and not the density that comes from the typical HC overkill of 6 guitar tracks. Also, J., who works with a really wide variety of bands, had just finished a month-long session recording the new Modern Life is War album before us, which I think was a really different kind of project for him, and the ideas that were generated during those sessions about how to best document aggressive music were still fresh in his head when we got there."
While PAINT IT BLACK puts the finishing touches on their latest work, you will soon be able to hear the band on the soundtrack of the next installment of the Tony Hawk's video game series. Tony Hawk's Proving Ground will feature the track "The New Brutality" from the album "Paradise" along with songs by Bad Brains, The Gorilla Biscuits, and The Clash, and previously announced At The Gates among many others.
This Is Hardcore Fest will take place August 17-19 in Philadelphia, PA at the Starlight Ballroom. Both weekend and one-day passes are available. Additional information can be found here. Here's the line-up:
All Out War
Blood Stands Still
Colin Of Arabia
Crime In Stereo
Death Before Dishonor
Fight Like Hell
Know The Score
My Turn To Win
Paint It Black
Rise And Fall
Strength For A Reason
Wisdom In Chains
PAINT IT BLACK activities will soon be in full swing again as the band prepares to enter the studio next week to record their third full length album.
The album will be co-produced by J. Robbins and Oktopus (AKA Alap Momin). PAINT IT BLACK fans should be familiar with J. Robbins' work - including Paradise, the bands 2005 hardcore masterpiece. New to the mix will be the creative genius of Oktopus, best known for his part in the innovative hip-hop duo Dälek. It's safe to say that, while remaining rooted in hardcore, the album will be anything but conventional or predictable.
With two festival shows and quick jaunt out to the West Coast, the band isn't waiting for the next record to appear live. Check out the tour dates below:
08/19/2007 Philadelphia, PA @ Starlight Ballroom (This is Hardcore 2007)

Paint It Black is currently finishing up the writing process for their next album. The effort will be co-produced J. Robbins and Oktopus. Here's a statement from the band:
"This is a really exciting time for us here at Paint It Black HQ. We've been hard at work polishing up the new songs for our next album, and we finally have all the logistics mapped out. This album will be co-produced by J. Robbins and Oktopus (aka Alap Momin). The initial tracking with be done in Baltimore at the Magpie Cage by Mr. Robbins, who in addition to recording/producing our last album, 'Paradise,' and being the founding member and primary songwriter of Jawbox, has numerous production credits to his name, including the soon-to-be-released new Modern Life is War album, the Black Cross full-length, and emo-pop masterpeices such as Braid, Jets to Brazil, and Promise Ring. We have a long-standing relationship with J. both as friend and colleague and are thrilled to be working with him again.
We're especially excited to be joining forces with Oktopus, who for the uninititated, is the genius behind the apocalyptic wall-of-sound that is Dalek (Ipecac Recordings). As a producer/engineer, he's pioneered an innovative sound in independent music, forging a unique synthesis of sounds that is equal parts Swans, Public Enemy, My Bloody Valentine, and Sonic Youth. After putting initial tracks to tape in Baltimore, we'll relocate to DeadVerse Studions in Northern NJ for overdubs, sonic tinkering, conceptual overhauling, low-end theory, and mixing.
For those of you who are getting worried that this is sounding too wierd or experimental, rest assured that the backbone of this album is still straight-ahead Hardcore Punk, equally inspired by Minor Threat, Poison Idea, Black Flag, Ignition, Embrace, Naked Raygun, with lyrics inspired by both political frustration and personal and redemption. The songs are still short and to the point. We just feel that Hardcore is always at risk of getting stale and aesthetically rigid, and feel a responsibilty to keep pushing it into new territory. We can't wait to get started."
After four years with Paint It Black, drummer David Wagenschutz is amicably leaving the band. States the group:
"Don't worry, this parting is on only the best of terms -- we're sad to see him go and wish him all the best in the future and, here's the exciting part for you guys, we're sending him off with an epic summer hometown celebration! So listen up: Dave's final performance with the PIBs will be on Friday July 28th at the First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia alongside a bill of dear friends: The Loved Ones, Cloak/Dagger and The Ratchets."
For the time being, Jared Shavelson (The Hope Conspiracy) will be filling in on drums though the group will soon begin looking for a permanent replacement. Interested candidates should send an email to email@example.com.

Hellfest 2005 has announced more bands and their zero tolerance policy along with upgraded security this year. Here's the announcement about the secutity and zero tolerance policy:
"For the past eight years Hellfest has maintained an almost spotless safety record—less a very minor setback last year. This year, Hellfest has made the decision to make adjustments to our safety policy. This year’s motto—ZERO TOLERENCE. Hellfest takes our fans safety as a serious matter. The bands support it, so should you. We've all heard the speech from the pit, you know, the one found in almost all bands hardcore handbook that starts like this—"We're all family here. If someone falls down, you pick them up." We live by that, but we are very aware that not everyone is always 100% willing to cooperate. We're not naive and we know you aren't either."
"In the past Hellfest has had the t-shirt enforced security on site to ensure everyone’s safety, this year we've upped the anty. We understand with the growing numbers and popularity of Hellfest, our security needed an upgrade. This year we've not only welcomed back our faithful t-shirt security to enforce safety on and around all stage areas, but we’ve enlisted armed security and police officers stationed at all other locations, available within arms reach in case of an emergency. The increased security isn't to ruin anyone's fun, but to keep the hardcore scene about things the scene was built on: music, ethics, DIY attitude and the family mentality. Hellfest fans are on the top of our list. We want the best bands, skateboarders, tattoo artists, merchandise, catering and above all else, the best security. In case there’s any confusion on our definition of ZERO TOLERENCE, we offer you an easy to understand list of consequences. The first incident of disorderly conduct will result in the ejection of all parties involved, arrests will be made and you will receive a fine up to a possible $1000. The Sovereign Bank Arena has welcomed Hellfest with open arms, let’s show them the utmost respect from the hardcore scene. Jail is one place the Hellfest and Sovereign Bank Arena staffs don’t want to see you on the weekend of Hellfest. Whether you purchased a three-day pass or a one day ticket, we don't want any unnecessary incidents happening what cause anyone to miss the most talked about festival of the summer."
One day tickets are also on sale now. From July 27 to August 3, a very limited number of single day passes will be available for a reduced rate. A very limited number of $99.99 3-day passes are still available ($20 less than any other tickets for Hellfest) as well.
