Sacred Mother Tongue Calls It Quits

British metal act Sacred Mother Tongue announces today that the forthcoming co-headline tour with Voodoo Six will be the last shows the band will ever play.

Having released the "Out Of The Darkness" album earlier this year, but been unable to reach the wider audience needed to survive, the band have decided that now is the right time to call an end to its existence. Lead singer Darrin South comments:

"I am deeply saddened to announce that this upcoming tour with Voodoo Six will be Sacred Mother Tongue's last. This is a gut wrenching decision that has troubled us all for some time, but alas, with a heavy heart we have decided to bite the bullet and bring an end to the band.

"So with what will now be, our farewell tour, we're gonna play the hell outta these shows as if our lives depended on it. Come along as it will be your last chance to see Sacred Mother Tongue perform, and we're gonna make sure it's a memorable tour for all. More...

"Opening Friday’s main stage, and fresh off the back of the release of ‘IV’, their first album in ten years, are British post metallers, Earthzone 9. The band are stoked to find their way to Catton Park’s hallowed ground, commenting 'Earthtone 9 have never played Bloodstock, so we could not be more excited! It's one of our only gigs this year, so we are truly going to make the most of it. There may well be some drinking!' Sacred Mother Tongue Recruits New Bassist

Sacred Mother Tongue has checked in with the following announcement about recruiting a new bassist:

"So... we're pleased to announce that following 2 weeks of video auditions we have found our new bass player to replace Josh.

"When we announced that Josh would be leaving we were left with a very daunting prospect of trying to find someone that fits the bill and of course, the huge shoes of Joshy himself. It was a scary place for us to be in especially with the timing, having just released our second album... not to mention our Main Stage Download appearance getting ever closer.

"We have been humbled by the amount of extremely talented applicants for the position, and we're pleased to say we've found the perfect man for the job. In a stroke of luck we found a dude that ticks all the boxes for us and he has been offered the full time position, as bass player for Sacred Mother Tongue.

"Keep your eye out for a full press release regarding the identity of our new bass monster. Thanks for everyone who took part in the auditions and helping us through this difficult time."

Sacred Mother Tongue To Release New EP

Sacred Mother Tongue has announced the release an upcoming new EP titled "A Light Shines..." coming this September 3rd, 2012. The track listing is as follows:

1. Evolve / Become
2. Seven
3. A Final Idea (acoustic)
4. City Is Crying (live from China)

The following press release was also issued about the EP:

"EMI Label Services are proud to announce the release of Sacred Mother Tongue's brand new EP, the monumental 'A Light Shines...'. This is their debut release on EMI Label Services and precedes their second album, 'Out Of The Darkness', which will be released early next year. 'A Light Shines...' is a defining moment for Sacred Mother Tongue, their stake in the sand as one the most exciting bands in British metal. Opening with the powerhouse chorus and heavy-as-hell guitars of 'Evolve/Become' and followed by the thumping darkness of 'Seven', it's instantly apparent that SMT have made a quantum leap on from their well-received debut album 'Ruin Of Man' in 2009, from which they reinterpret 'A Final Idea' as an acoustic number on this EP.

"And now, Sacred Mother Tongue in 2012 are channelling the melodic power of Metallica, the dark demons of Alice In Chains and the visceral intensity of Machine Head to create a vital update of all these influences coupled with a whole heap of skyscraping ambition. And it's that ambition that saw them head to China last month on tour, from which comes the final track, 'City Is Crying', another new song which received its live debut on those foreign shores.

"The band play their first UK show in support of 'A Light Shines...' on July 5th at The Intrepid Fox in London's West End. With a live show of quite spectacular proportions in the works this is a must-see showcase where Sacred Mother Tongue will unveil many of the tracks from the forthcoming album 'Out Of The Darkness' in a small venue, ahead of a full headline tour later this year. This is a one-off free gig and support comes from Cypher 16 and Imicus. More...

Sacred Mother Tongue To Film New Music Video

UK metal band Sacred Mother Tongue has issued the following update:

"It’s been a hell of a long time since our last video release, and after our mis-fortune with the last attempt we have been planning it carefully. Of course when Two Thousand Eight Hundred was made we really had no money or in fact no idea what we were doing, so it was a small miracle that it came out ok, and actually made it on screen with Scuzz and MTV2. So our follow up video for Anger on Reflection was on a bigger budget and was meant to be the business… however due to directorial differences between the film makers and ourselves, we decided to pull the video from You Tube after a short two weeks and it was never submitted to the TV stations."
