Drew Shoup of Warbeast will receive surgery to repair tendon and nerve damage to his fingers. The Warbeast guitarist severed 3 tendons and damaged nerves in his fingers due to accident involving a blender blade. Warbeast posted the following update via Facebook:
"Hey everyone… I have an update on our new Warbeast guitarist Drew Shoup. I know everyone has been concerned after his freak accident the other night to his fingers. I have some bad and good news to report.
First of all for those that aren’t aware of what happened….
Drew was washing a blender blade for like 2 seconds and right then their cat tried to jump up on the fridge. She missed and landed on his hand and it forced it onto the blade. It sliced them down to the bone… ouch!!! He was rushed to the ER and they gave him stitches that night.
Today he went to see a hand specialist. The bad news is that he severed 3 tendons and a bunch of nerves. At the moment he has no feeling or movement in his index finger. He will have to schedule a surgery for next week for them to put it all back together.
Now for the good news… right after the surgery, he will have to therapy for awhile and they’re telling him that it should all heal 100%. The timeframe on that is a guess right now… but Drew says he’s determined to work hard and get back to playing as soon as possible. So we are hoping for about 6-8 weeks for the best case scenario. Metal frontman and Housecore Records founder, Philip H. Anselmo, is bringing his horror-themed film and metal festival back for a third year. After a great ride in Austin, the festival will kick off in San Antonio, Texas at the Aztec Theater on November 13th -15th, 2015.
The decision to return was driven by the desire to honor his friend and festival co-founder, Corey Mitchell, who tragically passed away last October.
Mitchell was the driving creative force behind the festival's success, and Anselmo believes there is no better way to pay tribute to his friend than to carry on for a third year. "I've got a great team in place to help make this what Corey and I wanted it to be," he says. "There are a lot of mixed emotions here because no one can replace him. But, we know he would want this to continue and so that's what we're going to do. We miss him and think about him every day."
Bands already confirmed to play are Suffocation, Autopsy, Cripple Bastards, Nails, SYk & Dalila Kayros, YOB, Eyehategod, Child Bite, Warbeast and many more to be announced soon. Maryland Deathfest co-founder Ryan Taylor will be booking bands this year and will help Anselmo craft a musical lineup that would make Mitchell proud.
In addition to showcasing the best in extreme metal, the festival will screen film gems from the personal vaults of both Anselmo and Mitchell. Horror filmmakers are encouraged to submit their films and winners will be selected in various categories and given the coveted Rot-Scar Award. "When Corey and I started this thing, it was important to us that we help independent filmmakers get their incredible work discovered," Anselmo continues. "Nothing has changed, in that respect."
Tickets to go on sale soon - stay tuned for additional announcements. More...
The Texas thrash behemoths from Warbeast are readying for a live takeover with a slew of one-off shows through their homestate and beyond throughout the Spring and Summer months.
The festivities commence this Friday in San Antonio at Fitzgerald's. The following evening, the band will bring sonic devastation to the Welcome To Hell Fest 2015 in Houston alongside Deadhorse, Poor Dumb Bastards and more.
The latest bout of live mayhem finds Warbeast with an updated lineup featuring newest recruits, second guitarist Drew Shoup and bassist Lyric Ferchaud (stepson of vocalist Bruce Corbitt), two young, thirsty Lonestar thrash heads and longtime Warbeast devotees.
Comments Corbitt, "We are back with a new lineup and we're ready to hit the stage again doing what we do best, that is to kick some ass Texas thrash style! We are also busy working on some new songs and talking about entering the studio sometime in August to record this deadly new material. I'm anxious to start this next chapter of WARBEAST. It will be memorable, I can guarantee everyone that much!" More...
Lineup changes are nothing new for Texas thrash outfit Warbeast: the band has proven its resiliency over the years by simply reloading and continuing on.
The Housecore Records Recording artist has once again added some new weaponry to its arsenal. This time Warbeast has chosen to bring in some young bloods. Drummer Joey Gonzalez elaborates:
"2 young guns with a fire-in-their-bellies and hungry for thrash. It’s humbling and refreshing for me to work with two dedicated individuals ready and eager to hit the road and continue the tradition of thrash."
Drew Shoup (20-years-old) is now the band’s 2nd guitarist, and he comments: “Warbeast is one of the tightest, most energetic bands I've ever heard. I am very excited to be a part of what they do.”
Lyric Ferchaud (17-years-old) will take over the bass duties and proclaims: “I've watched the band become who they are and to be a part of that is pure excellence. I feel that joining this band will keep 'The Beast' alive as it should always be, and lead to even more powerful thrash metal than before.” More...
A good night’s sleep and mild weather helped me catch a second wind on the fifth consecutive day of metal concerts. I watched NWOBHM legends Satan at Beerland on Wednesday, the day before HHFF kick-off party. The sun’s rays dimmed just a little due to Superjoint Ritual backdrop and a breeze gave us some relief while catching the bands on the Midway stage. For me, today’s activities didn’t start there, though, it started at the Grindhouse tent located around the side of Emo’s. More...

Warbeast will be touring with Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals later this summer, but the band has now checked in with the following announcement about seeking replacement dates for the planned Canadian shows:
"Because Warbeast is unable to get into Canada (please don’t ask why)… we are obviously not able to do the 2 Canadian dates with Phil’s new solo band on our upcoming tour with them in August.
"So we are still looking to add a show or 2 or 3 on those off dates. So if any promoters, bands or whoever out there can help us with booking something… please let us know. The dates we have open are August 10th, 11th and 12th.
"The shows would have to be somewhere between Royal Oak Michigan (Detroit) and Worcester Massachusetts. So please don’t start offering any shows that are too far out of that route. Look it up on a map if you have to see if it is something that would work for us. Areas like in Ohio or upstate New York might work. I guess if we can’t book anything on those dates we will have a mini-vacation during the tour… which means we will just have to party our asses off… haha!" More...
Philip H. Anselmo will take to the road for his first-ever solo tour, "Technicians of Distortion," which will kick off July 31st in Tulsa, OK.

Warbeast has been on the road in support of latest album "Destroy," but the band posted a message online yesterday about being stranded in Kansas due to a van breakdown. Warbeast has now checked in with the following update:
"So we are still in Overland Park, Kansas. We won't be able to make the Nashville show tonight either. Scott and Bobby went to where the Van was parked at mechanic shop.
"They think it's a clogged muffler, but they didn't have the parts to fix it. So they are getting it towed to a muffler shop right now. Once the van is fixed we will start the 14 hour drive to Greenville, South Carolina to finish the rest of the tour.
"We will be be forced to checkout of our hotel in about an hour and just have to wait outside somewhere with our bags until the van is fixed. Our spirits are still high and we are determined to finish this tour no matter what. There's just the 5 band members left to do everything from this point on. But we will make it some how. Sucks that Casey has to spend his Birthday like this... but he's not bitching about it.
"Thanks to everyone that has been trying to help us through this ordeal... it really means a lot to us!!!" More...
Warbeast has checked in with the following update about breaking down on the road during tour:
"Warbeast stranded in Kansas... Van broke down 3 times. Had to cancel Tulsa... we apologize! But we were broken down on highway 3 times. Got towed... 3 different mechanics thought they fixed it and it would just break down again.
"Now everything is closed until Monday and they can't work on it until then. Plus we couldn't find a another van to rent yet because of everything closed around us. We can only hope something happens for us to continue this tour."
Warbeast released new album "Destroyer" earlier this month. Check out the band's new music video for "Blood Moon" in the player below. More...
