Argus To Release New Album "From Fields Of Fire"

Four years after the release "Beyond the Martyrs," mighty U.S. heavy metal torchbearers Argus will release "From Fields of Fire" on September 8th via Cruz Del Sur Music! "From Fields of Fire" is the defining moment from a band that has delivered the goods album after album. It is the highlight of the band's career to date and it is an album that will be seen as a highlight in heavy metal circles, not just this year, but for years to come.

Argus no longer needs an introduction. Three studio albums, three EPs, several European tours and US showcases and festival appearances have established the name of Argus as an established force in the heavy metal universe. Yet, Argus is a band not content to rest on its achievements. This is a band that is still hungry - a growing and strengthening animal that shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.

Judging from the outside almost nothing seems to have changed this time around on "From Fields of Fire." Another exceptional and visionary cover provided by Brad Moore (shown below), and an Intro/Outro on the track list, another of Argus' trademarks through all the records. But it's when you get on the inside, when you bite this album below the flesh to the bones that you realize Argus has not only been able to maintain uniqueness, but the band has raised the quality of the creativity and therefore raised the stakes for the future. There's a definite step ahead in terms of production and songwriting, which has reached the highest quality with the addition of producer and guitarist Dave Watson and bassist Justin Campbell in the line-up. The tense opener "Devils of Your Time" and the emotional closing "No Right to Grieve" are the songs that most clearly express their courage and confidence of exploring unusual sonic paths. More...

Wardruna And More Confirmed For Roadburn

Roadburn is very pleased to announce Wovenhand, Russian Circles, Wardruna, and a second Enslaved performance among the latest additions to the 20th edition line up of the festival, which will take place in April 2015. The festival organizers had this to say:

"Wovenhand’s incendiary performance at Roadburn 2011 remains one of the most talked-about shows in the festival’s history, and it’s a great pleasure to have David Eugene Edwards and his band back at the festival for what should be another thrilling, transformative concert. The band will reignite the 013 stage as the headline act on Thursday April 9.

"Led by former 16 Horsepower frontman Edwards, Wovenhand similarly delves deep into the darker, more gothic side of Americana, only on a much more personal, introspective level. The latest album ‘Refractory Obdurate’ is the band’s most visceral work yet, with its heavier arrangements packing a devastating punch.

"Already veterans of Roadburn, Chicago instrumental trio Russian Circles will return to the 20th edition of Roadburn Festival for a much anticipated main stage performance on Thursday, April 9, filling the main hall with their spacious, tonally lavish sound. More...

Argus Releasing New Album In October

Cruz Del Sur Music will release "Beyond the Martyrs," from US doom metal outfit Argus, on October 1st in North America and on October 7th in the UK. "Beyond the Martyrs" starts where their 2011's release "Boldly Stride the Doomed" had left us...at the Ruins of Ouroboros. The cover artwork and tracklisting of the eight-song release follows below.

In between these two releases Argus has tested its strength and valor in several live shows both in its homeland and in Europe, receiving high praises from fans and from the record industry. 2. No Peace Beyond The Line
3. The Hands of Time Are Bleeding

Legendary Pittsburgh metal band Dream Death, which disbanded in the late 80's, will be reforming to play one gig in its hometown on April 21st at the 31st Street Pub. The band will be playing with Argus and Closer To Hell on the bill. Dream Death is viewed as one of the lesser-known forefathers of the sludge/doom movement.

When they disbanded, the members went and formed others bands such as Pilsner, Penance and Eviction. Drummer Mike Smail went on to drum for Cathedral on its "Forest of Equilibrium" release and later appeared on Pentagram's 2004 album "Show 'Em How." Argus Announces Self-Titled Debut Album Details

Pennsylvanian metallers Argus have announced that their debut album will be self-titled and will be released in May through Shadow Kingdom Records. The record label issued the following statement about the release:

"With those of you familiar with Butch era PENANCE (USA Classic Doom), you already know how great his vocals are and those of you who aren’t will learn soon. ARGUS, a new and hungry band from the USA are very well versed with the Maryland Doom Metal and Epic Heavy Metal scene. They released a very well written Demo in 2007 on John Brenner’s Bland Hand Records as a download. For those of you that loved the Demo like I did, this is what you would expect their full length to sound and then some!

"THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG fans are going to go absolutely nuts over this album for the sheer volume of twin axe guitar shredding alone!! There are a lot of catchy, layered riffs on top of many hooks and sing a long choruses. On top of all these well-written Epic songs, there are TROUBLE-eque Doom Metal break downs to die for feathered throughout the album. Shall I say “instant classic”? That’s for you to decide. Look for them to release a 10” EP on one of my favorite labels, The Miskatonic Foundation in the near future as well."

The album's track listing will be as follows: More...
