Nephelium Splits With Drummer

Nephelium has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with drummer Alan Madhavan:

"It is with great sadness that we announce Alan’s decision to leave the ranks of Nephelium. Alan has been with the band since its inception, we had incredible times together and will never forget those. We wish Alan all the best in his commitment of being a full time drum teacher (can’t give up those sticks!), and thank our brother for his contribution to Nephelium during our many, many years together.

"We are however pleased to announce that skinsman Dave Black (Blastomycosis, Will of The Ancients) will be fulfilling drumming duties, allowing Nephelium to still perform at the Spread The Metal Festival in Toronto this coming September 7th, with headliners Suffocation!"

Alan commented with his own words on his departure: "It is with profound and sentimental sadness that I announce my departure from Nephelium. To say that my time in this band has played a key role in making me the musician I am today, would be an understatement. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members that I've played with through the years, from back home and here, all the bands and artists I've shared the stage with and most importantly, all our fans around the world - Nothing would ever be possible without you - YOU GUYS ROCK!!! I wish Devlin, Alex and Flo the very best with their success musically and personally - take it to the top boys!" More...

Nephelium Working On New Album

Releasing the brutal six track album ”Coils of Entropy” (reviewed here) at the beginning of 2012 (winning the Best Metal category at the Toronto Independent Music Awards), the brutal death metal band that traces its roots back to the late 1990s from the city of Dubai (now re-established in Toronto, Canada) has issued an update on a new album.

Nephelium drummer Alan Madhavan comments: "Like the churning of molten rock in the entrails of a livid volcano, we have been brewing up some of Nephelium’s most unyielding and devastating work to date. This stuff is NUTS!!! From abstract and eccentric yet masterful riff writing with our signature twist of worldly melodies to time shifts analogous to the precision of a woodpecker and vocals, you wish you believed in God when you hear, brace yourself for the one of the most fierce, violent and viciously musical sprees you’ve ever been on. This album is going to trample and slaughter anything in its path…"

Nephelium Splits With Guitarist

After releasing "Coils of Entropy" (reviewed here) at the beginning of 2012, Nephelium has issued the following statement on the departure of guitarist James Sawyer:

"We are sad to announce the departure of our brother and guitar player, James Sawyer as he has decided to part ways with Nephelium to further his studies in classical guitar and to pursue his degree in music. On behalf of the band, I like to take the liberty in saying that we all have taken from him and learned a thing or two on our journey working with such an intense creative musician."

James also states: “It is with regret that I will no longer be able to continue as guitarist for Nephelium as I am leaving to pursue other interests. I would like to thank all the other members of the band for the opportunity to be a part of Nephelium; it was an honor to work with such talented musicians.

"I would also like to thank all of the other bands I have shared the stage with as well as all the fans and everyone who has supported me in making my time with Nephelium a very memorable experience! Thanks a million for all your support! And to my brothers in Nephelium, I wish them the greatest of success, upward and onward to victory!"

Nephelium is currently writing and recording the follow up to "Coils of Entropy," with more details and new shows to be announced soon.
