More Bands Announced For Wacken Open Air Fest
Axel Rudi Pell, Edguy, and Overkill are the latest names to be added to next year's Wacken Open Air Festival, slated to take place on August 4-6 in Wacken, Germany. Other bands scheduled to appear at the festival are Accept, Nightwish, Sinner, Marduk, Ensiferum, Mercenary, Illdisposed, Endstille, and Turisas. More bands will be announced soon.
Norther To Record New EP In December
Finland's NORTHER will enter Astia Studios in Lappeenranta, Finland in December to record a new, as-yet-untitled EP. The CD will include five songs.
NORTHER's sophomore full-length album, "Mirror or Madness", was released in 2003 through Spinefarm Records. The follow-up to 2001's "Dreams of Endless War" effort was recorded at Astia with producer Anssi Kippo.
As previously reported, NORTHER's Petri Lindroos has been named a permanent member of the Finnish folk-influenced melodic death metal band ENSIFERUM. Lindroos will handle the vocals and guitar in the group, who parted ways with singer/guitarist Jari Mäenpää earlier in the year.
Overkill Confirmed For ROCK HARD FESTIVAL
Long-running New Jersey-based metallers Overkill are the latest band confirmed for the 2005 edition of the Rock Hard Festival, set to take place May 13-15 at Amphitheater in Gelsenkirchen. Other groups scheduled to appear at the festival include The Haunted, Children Of Bodom, Unleashed, Amon Amarth, Masterplan, Ensiferum and Heaven Shall Burn. Overkill's last studio album, "Killbox 13", was released in 2003 via Spitfire Records.
Shape Of Despair Post New Audio Sample Online
SHAPE OF DESPAIR, the Finnish Funeral doom band featuring former AMORPHIS singer Pasi Koskinen and his wife Natalie, released their new album "Ilusion's Play" on September 22nd through Spinefarm. An audio clip of the song 'Curse Life' can be found at this location (click on Music)

Ensiferum To Recruit Norther Vocalist
Finnish folk-metal act ENSIFERUM are still without a permanent singer following the departure of vocalist Jari Mäenpää, who left the band upon completion of their current album, Iron, to focus on his solo project, WINTERSUN. Having had a successful tour with NORTHER singer Peter Lindroos as a stand-in, the band has offered him a permanent spot in the line-up.
No word yet as to whether Lindroos has accepted the offer, but he will perform the following dates with Ensiferum:

Ensiferum Post Artwork For New Single
Finnish folk-influenced melodic death metal band ENSIFERUM have posted the cover artwork for their new single, "Tale of Revenge", at this location
"Tale of Revenge" comes off the band's forthcoming album, "Iron", due on April 19 through Spinefarm Records. In addition to the title cut, the "Tale of Revenge" single features ENSIFERUM's cover version of METALLICA's "Battery".
The follow-up to 2001's "Ensiferum", "Iron" was recorded last summer at Sweet Silence studios in Copenhagen, Denmark with producer Flemming Rasmussen (METALLICA, ARTILLERY).
As previously announced, ENSIFERUM will be embarking on a European tour with FINNTROLL beginning on April 14 in London, England. The band hasn’t yet found a replacement member/members for singer/guitarist Jari. However a stand- in has been found for the European tour. Vocals and guitars are played by NORTHER’s Petri Lindroos.
Finntroll Confirm Festival Gigs, Release Dates
The Finnish Folk/ Black metal force FINNTROLL have confirmed that they will perform at Piorno Rock in Spain on Feb 28th and Waldrock in The Netherlands on June 19th.
Finntroll have set release dates for their forthcoming EP and full-length CD. Both records were recorded and mixed at Sundicoop Studio, Savonlinna, Finland in November 2003 by Tuomo Valtonen, produced by keyboarder Trollhorn himself and mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios, Helsinki (FIN).
Up first is the mini-CD Trollhammaren (meaning Trollhammer), due out on March 15th, which features the following tracklisting: ‘Trollhammaren’, ‘Hemkomst’, ‘Skog’, ‘Försvinn Du Som Lyser’, ‘Helvete’.
Nattfödd (meaning Nightborn), the new full length album, will be released on April 19th and features the following tracks: ‘Vindfärd / Människopesten’, ‘Eliytres’, ‘Fiskarens Fiende’, ‘Trollhammaren’, ‘Nattfödd’, ‘Ursvamp’, ‘Marknadsvisan’, ‘Det Iskalla Trollblod’, ‘Grottans Barn’, ‘Routas Vaggvisa’.
