Warbringer Gives Finntroll Tour Report
Warbringer has issued the following tour report along with the announcement that they will be supporting Soilwork on their upcoming tour:
"So we're back in N. America touring the US and Canada with FINNTROLL. It was quite a rush as we flew directly in from Amsterdam (as Holland was our last European show with Sworn Enemy/All Shall Perish) into Philadelphia and had to get our butts down to Jaxx in Springfield the next day to start this tour. It was a bit chaotic but we want to thank everyone who responded to our post for a ride.
"This tour has been great! It feels good to be back home and playing in front of metal audiences and sharing a bus with the 'Trolls has been awesome. It's been some time since we played the US, as we pretty much spent all summer in Europe, and it's nice to feel the energy of the audience every night. Merch sales have been good too - thanks! Warbringer Hits The Road, Shoots New Video
After returning home from Germany's Wacken Open Air festival and touring throughout Europe alongside labelmates Sworn Enemy and All Shall Perish, L.A. thrash warriors WARBRINGER now set their sights back on North America as they prepare to embark on back to back tours. The first trek, which kicked off on Aug. 22nd, sees the group as direct support to the Finnish sensation Finntroll and the second run, which kicks off on Oct. 1st, as direct support to legendary thrash titans Overkill.
John Laux (guitars) states: "Thanks to everyone who saw us on the Metal Hammer stage at Wacken Open Air. There is nothing compared to hearing thousands of thrashers screaming 'Total War' louder than your own stage monitors. We loved the energy and can't wait for the next opportunity to slay the masses. We can't wait to get back on the road throughout North America with Finntroll and then Overkill, which means we are hitting a lot of places so be sure to check out the MySpace page because we are most likely coming your way. Thrash til death."
WARBRINGER just completed a new video for the vicious track, "At The Crack of Doom," with up-and-coming director Joe Hendrick. The clip is a savage, performance based video that unleashes a fury of aggression and all out thrash madness.
Hendrick states: "The aesthetic style and vibe of this video is drastically different from their previous video. We have numerous smooth, wide, crane and dolly shots that show off the location, resembling the look of the metal videos from the 80's."
Laux (guitars) further comments: "A brand new WARBRINGER video should be showing up online sometime in the middle of next month. Originally we wanted to shoot at a castle, but we ended up performing 'At the Crack of Doom' at a very old, evil and torn up building in the Mojave desert. This video is a performance piece like 'Combat Shock,' but we also had extras running around in hooded robes carrying torches as part of a post apocalyptic cult or something. Needless to say, after working on the project we are very excited for its release."

Warbringer Announces New Drummer
Upon returning home from their first European tour earlier this summer, in support of Napalm Death and Suffocation, WARBRINGER found itself one member short. While the group had just made touring bassist Ben Bennett official after six months of live shows together (since original bass player, Andy Laux, was still in high school), they were now faced with replacing drummer Ryan Bates after he informed them he wished to leave the band.
Fortunately, after putting a number of potential candidates through the wringer, the very talented Nic Ritter won the band over with his diverse and technical style. Ritter, 27, had been playing with progressive thrash act Prototype, a band whose song "The Way It Ends" was a bonus cut on Guitar Hero III, since relocating to LA from San Diego. He has also been keeping busy with his death/grind side-project, Bodybag Johnny.
WARBRINGER's recent show in Mesa, Arizona last weekend was his first with the band and from all reports the group didn't miss a beat. You can catch a glimpse of his capabilities via video on his MySpace page.
Ritter had the following to say about his induction into the band: "I have been working at getting in a legit, professional band for a while now, and I feel this band is a great fit for me. I can't wait to get on the road and play with the new and improved WARBRINGER lineup. We are already throwing around ideas for the next album and I can't wait to write and record it with the rest of the band. It's going to be brutal!"
Also speaking to the potential of the new album, Bennett added: "I gladly look forward to contributing with riffs and songs for the new album. Oh and by the way, expect some fat bass in the future of WARBRINGER."
Under an arduous life of non-stop touring, the band has certainly approached its developing career much like the title of its debut full-length, "War Without End." However, as young as some of these guys might be, they understand that along the road to reward there will be a few unexpected bumps, and with a new drummer and a permanent bass player they're ready to show Wacken their best lineup yet on August 2nd.
Soon after their return from Europe, where they'll tour with Sworn Enemy and All Shall Perish, WARBRINGER will embark on a North American tour beginning Aug. 22 with label mates and blackened folk metallers Finntroll. This will be the band's third tour of the States after sharing stages with the likes of Exodus, Goatwhore, Nile, Suicide Silence and others. The latest Warbringer tour dates follow: More...
Finntroll Cancel Serbian Show
Folk metal band Finntroll has cancelled their Serbian show. The band issued the following statement on their website:
"Hmmmm. Due to some "unfortunate events", according to certain people, the Serbian gig is cancelled. We´re freaking sorry, and next time......heh, well, what did your mother say? Don´t trust anyone? Nah. Somebody fucked us up and here´s the deal. And trust me, it´s not fun to wake up for this, being already in Serbia 8 AM either- we´d rather play a gig here than just get drunk."
Finntroll also recently announced that they will be recording a live DVD at their Amsterdam show on September 20th.
Finntroll To Film Live DVD
FINNTROLL guitarist Skrymer has posted the following brief update:
"We're recording a live show for DVD at Melkweg in Amsterdam (on September 20th, 2008)! So we're expecting everybody to come there and tear the place to pieces with us!!!
Cheers!"
Crimfall Signs To Napalm Records
Epic Folk metal band CRIMFALL has signed to Napalm Records. The label comments: "Although their debut album will not be released until fall/winter 2008, Pagan and folk metal fans are advised to note this band's name. Trollhorn (FINNTROLL) supported the band on their demo recordings and his influence will surely be evident on the forthcoming album. "Building bridges between the styles of TURISAS and FINNTROLL, CRIMFALL skilfully blends the best of these two bands to create something completely new."
