Latest Gorguts News
Below is our complete Gorguts news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.

According to Luc, the album will be a single track opus. When asked about progress on new material, Lemay responded:
"[Bassist] Colin Marston and [guitarist] Kevin Hufnagel, when they come over for gigs, we like to spend more days working on material. The new record, besides lyrics, everything is written. The music is finished, let’s say 98%. We’re into the minor detail phase, which we stop every two seconds and go 'minor detail, what about this and this.'
"The new record is going to be a single track… one long song. I’ve been wanting to do that for a long, long time. After hearing Porcupine Tree’s 'The Incident,' Meshuggah’s 'I,' the Deathspell Omega EPs, I said I really wanted to get into this compositional exercise, to get one big movement, and I think it’s pretty good. I can’t wait to share it with the crowd and that’s going to be a lot of fun to play live." More...
War On Music Records will soon release a massive Gorguts demo anthology on vinyl. After almost two years of planning, re-planning, adding and expanding, the Canadian based vinyl label is ready to unleash a colossal collection titled "...And Then Comes Lividity," named after the cult 1990 demo tape which first caught the attention of Roadrunner Records. Century Media Records is proud to announce the re-issue of two groundbreaking technical death metal albums by long-running Canadian legend Gorguts on April 6th, 2015 in Europe and April 7th, 2015 in North America. Founding member Luc Lemay (vocals/guitar) comments:
"Hi everybody! It's with excitement that I write these lines to you today, because I'm proud to announce that our 1998 record 'Obscura' and 2001's 'From Wisdom To Hate' will finally be re-released! We did a lot of touring for our latest record, 'Colored Sands,' and everyday someone would ask me when 'Obscura' would be out again. Well, here we are!
"For this re-issue, I decided to include liner notes that tell the story behind each record. How we got together as musicians, what was the composition process that made this sound possible and that made us grow as artists.
"You'll also notice that both re-releases bear the new logo. Well, I decided to change the logo because, with a step back, I realized that I never really like the original one on 'Obscura' and I wanted to give the record a fresh look. I kept the same logo for 'From Wisdom To Hate,' because it was created for this record.
"Thanks again to all our fans for their unconditional support through all those years... Krank the volume to 11.........INTRA LIMPIDUS OBSCURA!!!!!!!!!!!!!" More...

The line to get into Mohawk was split in half between minors and adults. Although The Black Dahlia Murder has more than a decade under its 30-something beltline, the band is still a hot commodity among young listeners. The older demographic spawned by Carcass and Gorguts wasn't always welcoming to the 'core kids and their icons, TBDM; however, in terms of attendance, Decibel Magazine was onto something when they squeezed together, and I do mean squeeze, these disparate bands.
Baltimore, Maryland upstarts, Noisem provided a jolting dose of death/thrash. Featuring tracks culled from their recent "Agony Defied" album, the A389 recording artist played fast and spurned on oncoming body-mass wall. Standing on the first balcony, I often found myself checking out the bang bodies below. Long-hairs and spiked dos came together, often in a brutal-yet-loving fashion.
Origin drummer John Longstreth has checked in with an update on Origin, Gorguts, and his upcoming debut instructional DVD. Longstreth's upcoming DVD was recorded at the Warehouse Studio's in Vancouver BC, Canada. He comments:
'Hey just to give everyone an update on what is going on for me in 2014. Origin has completed the record 'Omnipresent' I am extremely happy with the outcome and can't wait until everyone gets to hear it!
"The DVD is coming along nicely but it will take a few months to complete everything. After it's completion I will be able to start sending out perks to all the contributors. I would like to thank everyone for their support this could not have happened without you. I will keep everyone updated as it progresses.
"I have been getting asked about the Gorguts up and coming dates lately. I will not be joining Gorguts on the up and coming tours.
"Luc Lemay has decided to take out Patrice Hamelin for all dates in 2014. I can't say I am not disappointed but I respect his decision and it allows me to concentrate on Origin, the DVD, other projects and future drum clinics/workshops. I am very happy to say that some Gorguts material will be included on my up and coming DVD."
Luc Lemay also issued the following statement:
"I'm writing today to share with you that we will now have a new drummer sitting behind the kit for Gorguts. Unfortunately, John won't be playing with us anymore.
"When I first asked John, Colin and Kevin to join me to be part of Gorguts, rule number one, for me, has always been that each of their respective bands and solo career would always come first. More...

"It’s with great joy that I share this music with all of you today. This record was a labor of love, and no details were left neglected. I can never thank each of you enough for your support with the little messages sent to us through the modern media. Please, grab your headphones; close your eyes…..and crank the volume up! Come with us, through the magic of compositions…we will take a trip to Tibet to witness magnificent beauties…as well as a dramatic fate."
