Darkest Hour Announces European Release Date

"The Human Romance," the new album from Washington D.C. metal act Darkest Hour, will be released in Europe on March 7 through Century Media Records. The new album, which will be issued in North America on February 22 through eOne Music, was recorded at a North Carolina studio with producer Peter Wichers.

Darkest Hour guitarist Mike Schleibaum commented by saying:

"We have been working on these tunes ever since we left the studio last April. 'The Eternal Return' was written during a very dark, bleak time for the band and I think that record matches that in both tone and character. Our vision was for it to be an in-your-face, no-frills aggressive assault. The new material shares in that aggression and pushes Darkest Hour beyond the unknown."

Darkest Hour To Enter The Studio

Darkest Hour is about to enter the studio and has announced the band is teaming up with Soilwork's Peter Wichers. "We're really excited about working with Peter on this album. It's going to be amazing collaborating with such an inventive and unique guitarist/musician to produce and document what we feel is the most emotional and melodic Darkest Hour album to date,” says drummer Ryan Parish.

"Peter is someone we've admired and very much respected as a musician and producer for quite some time. Being a pioneer of the Swedish metal sound, (which has so greatly influenced our band) we hope to refine all of those classic elements with him and incorporate new methods to improve our songwriting" says font man John Henry.

Guitarist and founding member Mike Schleibaum also commented on the new material, "We have been working on these tunes ever since we left the studio last April. The Eternal Return was written during a very dark, bleak time for the band and I think that record matches that in both tone and character. Our vision was for it to be an in your face, no frill aggressive assault. The new material shares in that aggression and pushes Darkest Hour beyond the unknown."

Darkest Hour Posts "Eternal Giveaway Contest" Clip

Darkest Hour has released a new webisode documenting the band's final performance on "The Eternal Return" touring cycle. Just before the release of their last record, the band ran a contest, with the grand prize of having Darkest Hour perform at the winner's house. The webisode documents this experience start to finish, which can be viewed below.

Darkest Hour guitar player Mike Schleibaum commented: "We couldn't have been more excited to reach out and do something special for the people that continue to support us. Special thanks to Adam and his family for making it such a great way to end that touring cycle. We're hard at work on our E1 Music debut and look forward to unleashing these new tunes!

Darkest Hour Signs To E1 Records

Washington, D.C. based act Darkest Hour has signed with E1 Music in North America, joining artists such as Hatebreed, High On Fire, Overkill, among others. The band will enter the studio to record new material to be released early next year. "We couldn't be more excited to announce that Darkest Hour has found a new home with E1 Music," says founding guitarist Mike Schleibaum. Formed in 1995, the band has seen their share of experiences over the years. "When we started the band we were just a couple of rejects with one collective dream, rock the world with our bastard combination of punk and metal!"

Schleibaum continues, "It has truly been the ride of a lifetime. From playing our first punk shows in the basements of Washington DC to touring all over the world, the band has really grown up across generations of punk, metal, and hardcore kids."

After spending nearly a decade with Victory records, the band looks forward to the next chapter in their already full impact history. Schleibaum concludes, "It's time for the next metamorphosis: enter our new partners, the good people at E1 Music. We have been hard at work on our E1 debut for months now. More news will follow but rest assured we have found a new home with E1 and can't wait to open the next chapter!"

E1's VP of metal Scott Givens adds, "Adding Darkest Hour to the ever growing E1 Metal roster shows the company’s continued commitment to the genre. They are an amazing band with an amazing future."
