Melbourne stoner/doom metal band Worms of the Earth has announced their final live appearance, for April 17th at The Arthouse in Melbourne, two months after the band announced their break up. The gig will be on the Melbourne leg of the Love Below Tour, which features Queensland band A Secret Death, along with Hopeless and Concrete Street.
About the break-up, the band commented:
"ANYWAYS, so, we’ve decided to call it quits. No biggie, some bands have a certain chemistry to them and rather than fucking around with replacing members and messing with that personality or whatever you wanna call it we just figured we’d call it a day. We have some shows coming up, including this one at The Arthouse on Saturday Feb 7th!
"Splits are still available (Split EP with The Surrogate). Get them through Pete at test subject’s myspace, there’s a link in our top friends on Myspace. Pete rules and it’s a bummer that this is the second band I’ve been in that’s broken up after he’s put out a record of ours.
"Also, from here on out, all our merch is ten bucks. Shirts are ten bucks, cheaper if you buy them with a record at the shows or something. I know it seems a bit rich bands selling stuff at all when they’re over, but we sort of want to pay someone back for some things they did for us, so, you’re not just lining our pockets if that helps. If you want one it’ll be a tenner plus whatever postage, get in contact with Cam here.
"If you’ve come seen us and stuff or are going to at this final show, thanks a fucking zillion and one times, seriously. This band’s been a totally new experience for me, I wasn’t really sure what I was getting into when I did it apart from playing music I dug with people who were rad, and yeah… it’s been a fucking blast. I’ve played so many new places and met so many new, cool people in this band, and we’ve all had so much fucking fun, so, thanks heaps. Hopefully we’ll catch you around at some shows and of course we’re all playing in other bands and shit. Cheers!”
